Don't fret. I live in Europe, it's not that hard :) Only tough thing is to build an American car as you want it, you're going to have to pay steep prices to USPS, FedEx, DHL and the like. Shipping costs are never less than the value of the items I buy, it's insane. Most insane purchace was a clock for the rear axle of a '49 Buick. Shipping cost me 2000 dollars...

there is indeed a middle ground. I had "jalopies" when i had neither the garage to work on in the icy winter, nor the house to store parts i found cheap to use at a later date. Someone else's money pit that i snared for cheap, turned into love-hate relationships--they were great when they worked, fearful when i didn't know if i was going to make it home. I did this before the hobby took off, so i know, solid 340/383 muscle cars got hacked apart to save a Hemi or a 440-Sixer. Those rich dudes are the reason we can now buy parts for everything--supply, meet demand. That said, i'd rather have a fleet of affordable muscle than one $100,000+ show winner i can't drive b/c it's fiscally irresponsible to risk the investment.

60s and 70s mopars are worth a fortune around here. This charger is an easy $10k car as it is. Hell around here 80s mustangs and camaros are $5k to as high as $15k.

@@CamaroAmx i live in the snow belt, so finding something with a rust hole you can't stick a fist thru, is expensive. Tony does mention his Charger is a flooded out Katrina car, so that honesty makes it more affordable. One of my kids (now 17) got the family minivan in drive, and drove it into the local animal shelter, nearly destroying their deck/wheelchair ramp... Wife desperately trying to open the door as it creeps along... Guess who was the only one laughing during/afterwards...???😂😂

I did the same thing with my Uncle's 68 Plymouth. Parked it on an incline in front of the house and left me in the car. Pulled it out of park and away I went. Engine wasn't running though.

That is a truly loving caring relationship. When you can pop the trunk, tell your wife to get in and she does it without a complained or even a single question. Mine just kept going with the questions. Why are you doing this? Can't we work this out? Is that a shovel? Do you think you're going to get away with this?

I love the fact that he's smoking a cig while gas is dripping from the car! Fuckit! I love that you rescued this Charger from the aftermath of Katrina. I wonder how many classic MOPARS didn't fare as well... 😥

A friend of mine lost a 53 Packard due to Katrina, i wanted to buy it from him flood or not, but his insurance company administratively “killed” the car by marking title “flood- total loss” it could not be re-titled in Louisiana but could have been brought back to life in a different state, however the insurance company had to physically have custody of the car to write the check. It was likely in the crusher before sundown. There were so many total loss vehicles from Katrina, it was difficult to rescue the collectibles if there was an insurance claim. It was horrible!

Great car !! One of my favorites since I was a teen and I’m in my fifties now ..... one of my teachers had one sitting next to his house for years but I was too young to do anything about it 😩😩

Ah Tony, finally a 440! I owned 3 of them (1970) back in the mid 70's. They were in the Police model Plymouth Fury bodies. Awesome engine...good power, easy to work on and, back then, the parts were cheap for them. That is a nice Charger for sure.

I love the first gen Chargers. I always thought the interiors were very expensive looking. The next gen is wildly popular but I think the interiors look cheap and plastic.

i bought a 67 charger with a 440 just about a year ago. i'm 98% finished replacing the floors, waiting for the block from the motor shop to build engine, and some incidentals. it's pretty ratty with a real rough plum crazy paintjob, but i'm in love with it. good floors, a fresh motor, new wiring and some spray paint in the interior and we're gonna be moving on down the road. so much of the hot rod world focuses on extremely expensive cars, but it's so fun to throw a couple bucks at something just for fun.

my mother used to lament, my father and i returned from the town dump with more items than we went there with. Now scrap prices are so high, I'll never again return with a waterlogged THM400. I've never had kids, but there's something about an older gearhead riding in his kid's "jalopy". It has to be as heartful as taking the kid to a baseball game.
