It's an electro-magnetic pulse, basically a strong magnetic field expanding and collapsing quickly, in such a way that it causes power surges in almost any piece of electronics, enough to damage them. The video is more about the effects of an EMP, and if you know only one thing about an EMP, then you should know the effects, it's the most relevant thing to a person's life and decision-making.

Yes, just turning something off will not protect it. The simplistic way to put it is that it'll destroy the function and source of the electronic device completely.

really its hard to say what will and wont fry? also people dont plan for unseen events they barely plan for weather storms coming yearly. i have doubles of power generating equipment " inverters & a generator" put in faraday cages along with a tv radios sd cards medical equipment solar controller ect.. i cant see many put away stuff you wont ever use in the event of a maybe EMP? but i feel personally having 4 unfriendly countries iran north korea china russia able ready willing to hit us plus other terrorist.. on top of a weak outdated antiquated grid that fails on a regular basis when a squirrel breaks a tree limb in ohio? well i feel strongly its a plan people should have and knowledge needed. 75% to 90% death rate in the US the first year after an EMP SHOULD be #1 priority. i see nothing more important.

@@kylehill3643 i dont know. really its one of those things the best i do is put away doubles or more of each thing in faraday cages which should protect. but no i cant say if all would be fine or fry. but if all did fry the cost to life would be as said 90% in the 1st year after an emp. saturated main transformers with no replacements and we are quickly running out of parts & new stuff. its a what if im not taking a chance on.

lightning against a nuke.. ? cant say i want to be that test dummy. really an EMP event its hard to say what will work what will be interrupted and what will fry? how close how large depends. but really few have interest or knowledge thats the scary thing. having electronics power and supplies after and more important security to keep it while not letting others know you have matters. if your town is dark but your home is glowing good luck with that... lol. canadian prepper has good videos.

Its the electrical grid that is the problem. It will get fried. It has happened before. Gas stations won't be able to pump gas. No gas means no trucks delivering food. No food means riots. People freezing to death in the winter. Looting etc.

if its old.. yes. mine is new but kept in a faraday cage along with a 3000 watt 6000 surge pure sine wave inverter. if you have a newer one it needs to be kept in a sealed faraday cage. theres videos online how to make one.

Yes, but it's not a Chemical, it's called Fallout. Particles of Radiation drifting with the air masses that shift in the atmosphere, radiating in to whatever those air masses become. For example, if a Nuclear Explosion went off in the upper coastal sides of the atmosphere, it's impact would greatly effect the Jet Stream, also irradiating it, and the Jet Steam is one of the core pathways of Cold Air flowing around the world, responsible for creating Cold Fronts, High Winds, Thunderstorms, or Fog which would also become irradiated.

Yep not an answer. So here's B,S an emp occurs because a large amount of energy slaps the surface bounces back only to Be treated to a slap back from the magnetosphere causing dense vibrated energy to flood, all pathways under the dome. The damage then presents itself through the vacuum/magnetics we use to manipulate electricity. Kinda like a water hammering in an old house. So if that BS hold tru. A high altitude detonation, would B the hardest way to cause an EMP. Not impossible you just need to triangulate from above. The damage to life on earth after, unforgivable. Got ya thinking tho

Prepare for the worse now. Gather up a bunch of woods for preparation, hunt and store all your meats in the freezers, learn how to can foods to preserve it, and build a well.

This is completely inaccurate. Such blasts were done in nuclear tests, and many electronics and electrical systems on the ground will survive undamaged. Electronics will generally continue to work, especially if they are protected against a power surge. most electronics are shielded, or immune by design. There are just two major vulnerabilities: Sattelites get hit hard, a percentage of sattelites will go dark, and the transformers at either end of a long above-ground power line will get a punch. My prediction is that it would destroy some sattelites and some transformers in the electricity grid, and 99.9% of all other stuff will be undamaged. The rest is fear mongering.

need to store away an extra charge controller in a faraday cage and extra diodes. also a good idea to have fuse links thru the system. this is what i did anyways... honestly i cant say if the panels would be damaged? but controller yes and i blew up diodes before so its not a part you can do without and good luck finding some later.

north korea iran china russia and rouge terroist. this should be a #1 priority. looking at estimates between 75% to 90% deaths in the US in the first year after an EMP event whats worse? but i see nothing being done? planning education action needed now. personally im ready. im concidering starting a channel to show others how to plan. but really its hard to tell people to plan and put away things they wont use unless this happens? we are living in a society that lives for today. a disposable society. sadly also if you plan and have after you need to hide it and protect from the many who will come to take.

honestly to make electricity is not hard. when i was 9 years old i used to make power inverters. theres videos online. as for medical equipment... i doubt it will work. doctors would need to go old school operations.
