Ocean Ramsey and Juan Shark’s shared their passion for sharks by letting me experience them first hand. Yes, free diving with sharks and NO cage! It’s was amazing…I have a new outlook on sharks and how important they are to our planet.

Been in a cave full of white tips in the daytime. They usually sleep in the day and hunt at dusk.

I wonder if our Maui Galapagos are more aggressive in the channel... They were not as relaxed as in all of the tour videos I have been watching... (and I know that much of GoPro footage is slowed down.) A four foot or so shark brushed against my friend, today... We are all okay. They came up from the deep with no chum, just the noise of boat and swimmers. They were quite insistently Bold... coming right up to us. there were only 5 or 6, then more started to rise thru the slight haze from the depths. Was really COOL, though!! (mostly 4 to 5 foot range.) the quick 90 degree turns seemed aggressive. -would Love some of her tips for how to act in the water when they come up... This will happen again, when we swim the deep channels! -Cheers, Great video! -Scotty on Maui. p.s.- A fear of sharks is a good thing, when they think you might be food... act accordingly, We got into the boat!! p.p.s.- Ocean Ramsey's educational Shark Behavior video answered my questions.

This is amazing, I just learned about Ocean recently. Wanting to do this now when we go to Oahu later this year. How close to they let you swim to the sharks? Or do you just stay around the surface most of the time?

Dude its a great experience! You are in the water with the sharks but hanging on a rope attached the boat. Most people on tour are not used to being in the ocean and prefer this option. The boat acts as a larger object to deter the sharks. As you see in the video (as an option) Ocean will swim with you out further from the boat and even allow you to dive deeper closer to the sharks. She does this by one at a time with the tour group but the group sizes are small esp. with covid restrictions

Any advice or detail for dealing with the currents and being out in the open water?

They will provide top notch dive fins and snorkel/masks. This will help but most of the time you will be close enough to the boat that currents won’t be to bad. I’ve gone twice.. and conditions were considered rough but the group didn’t have any issues

So if there would be tiger sharks or great whites they would let dive all the 6 people in the water without cage? They need a good trust that people react how they should. I am thinking of doing this tour but seeing a tiger shark or great white would be even more awesome. I would go all the way from Germany. :D

You’re right! If one of the bigger sharks came around Ocean Ramsey would first have everyone get out to asses the bigger sharks behavior. There’s a good chance that the guide will let the swimmers that want to experience this back in the water!! I hope to have this experience as well! See you soon 🤙

Christopher Hsu there will be a photographer in the water shooting everyone. I think the photos were for purchase after the tour!

According to Hawaii DLNR, on September 18, 2019 three separate swimmers were bitten at the same location, approx 3 miles off shore of Hale'iwa, at the same time 10:10 AM. I am all for protecting the sharks, but people interacting with sharks is dangerous.

I am 100% for protecting sharks and the educating people about them. Although this was a different company that injured swimmers got hurt they all still recommend the experience and would do it again. It was a fluke incident but yeah it’s good to share
