I am 74, and went wfpb diet 6 months ago. I did because of high blood pressure. I have lost 14 lbs. My BMI is 22..... Just hope I can get off the medicine. I live in NC too. In Mebane, NC🙂 I love the food!

In my prayers I always tell God that I want to live to see all of his purposes and promises come true before my eyes and then I realized, I have to work in harmony with my prayers by my actions, so I do my best to eat in a way to Have the longevity and endurance I need to have that prayer answered for seeing all of God‘s promises and purposes come true before my eyes and if not, he has me either way. It’s just a fun thought that I’ve had over the years. 😊

They are so inspiring. I am 55 and had a heart attack last year due to elevated lpa which i inherited from my dad. The doctors told me its pre determined by age 5 and there isnt anything i can do about it. Well they dont know me and my stubbornness. I have lowered my lpa to normal. The cardiologist told me that there is no study out there for what i did. Fyi i was vegan non drinker non smoker and was running really fast when i had my heart attack. I consider my heart attack a bump in the road and not looking back. I feel fantastic being vegan❤❤

Thanks for sharing this older video with Chef AJ as I wasn’t aware that Fran had sought the advice of 12 Neurologists who all gave the same responses. It’s frightening to know this, as we are brought up to respect our doctors and believe their advice…. And these doctors enabled the country to become Oxy addicted…hmmm… it’s a sad state of affairs when we have to go out on our own to heal ourselves and those of us who do are viewed as the weirdos. Most of us are under traditional healthcare and wonder why functional lifestyle doctors aren’t more commonplace…..probably because prescribing healthy food doesn’t pay their bills…..

Living longer healthier. Great statement. It is great to see an "older" couple thriving into their 80's and doing so well physically and cognitively. I have family members who will not change their diets because they do not believe it works and think it is too late. But I think that the real reason is the fear that changing to a WFPB lifestyle will impact their choices, activities and friend groups. For example, one couple I know who are in their 80's, and on a myriad of medication, have developed a great social group that evolves around meeting their friends at the local bar and restaurant. Understandably, they do not want to give up this lifestyle up as this is their "life line" so to speak to their social life and happiness. Some may argue that they don't have to change their activities, but when their activities evolve around food and the food at the establishment doesn't offer WFPB options, it will be a huge adjustment for them (not to mention the reaction of their "friends"). Even with all of their health scares, I do not think they will make the change and sadly will just say that you were "lucky" and not credit your healthy lifestyle with your success.

I had to add oil to my diet because without some sort of fatty substance, I get terrible acid in my stomach. Every night in the middle of the night. For literally decades. Now I just add a little oil to my meal, and I sleep through the night without any issues.
