And I would recommend The Winery Dogs song Elevate. Don’t know the singers name? But eerily sounds just like Mr. Cornell. The other 2 guys are Mike Portnoy Drummer from Dream Theater and Billy Sheehan Bassist from Mr. Big. Great song nonetheless!

The "no one sings like you anymore" is about a woman who is singing in her house that he overheard. She doesn't want to be a performer, but she was a really good singer. She would HAVE to be in order to get a nod like this from Chris. Tidbit fact for ya!

I've always thought the meaning of the video and song was that under the glossy, smiley surface of society there's something sick and distorted, and they wished something would come to wash it all away. That's pretty much how I felt about society at the time -- the decay and sickness underlaying the toothpaste smiles of ads and sitcoms felt so evident, and the video captured the feeling for me rather well.

Also, Soundgarden was one of the many "Grunge" bands to come out of Seattle in the 90s that started with Nirvana and included Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, The Melvins, Temple of the Dog. They wore alot of flannel shirts which started a fad with grunge fans, but when asked about the fashion, I can't remember who replied, but one of the band members explained that it rains a lot in Seattle, that's why they always wore the flannel shirts. It had nothing to do with any kind of fashion statement.

Anything U2 from Joshua Tree backwards would be great. Success ruined them in my opinion. Their songs lost their sense of urgency once the money started rolling in. One of my favorite songs of all time. In the 80s and 90s, a ton of music videos were wild. Sometimes, you needed to listen to the music separately from the videos, then watch the videos for their creativity.

“Fell On Black Days”, “Burden In My Hand”, “Outshined”, “Rusty Cage” are all far superior to this track, IMO. This track was SO overhyped and over played back in the day that I believe it painted Soundgarden as more mellow than they really were. I also got to see them at Lollapalooza back in 1992 and they were killer live!

There have been many stellar voices in music history. Chris Cornell was one of them. Few deaths hit me harder than his (including Kurt Cobain). He had so many incredible vocal performances it's tough to narrow it down, but "Burden in My Hand" is a must-listen. I also highly recommend songs he did with his other group, Audioslave - "Like a Stone", "I Am the Highway", and "Show Me How to Live".

I have every album Chris ever sang on, he is always brilliant! You all heard him on Temple of the Dog too, if you remember, the Hunger Strike song. Black Hole Sun was very popular but not my favorite because it was kinda hard to penetrate lyrically. I absolutely love songs like Fell On Black Days or Down on the Upside. His other band Audioslave you should check out too. Such an amazing voice, love him so much!!

Chris has such an incredible voice. I'd highly recommend anything by Soundgarden, Audioslave, or his solo stuff. In particular: Like a Stone and Cochise are great songs by Audioslave. Solo stuff: You Know My Name is a great song that almost never gets reacted to. Also his acoustic covers: everyone will say Nothing Compares to You, which is incredible for sure, but his cover of Billie Jean is next level and you HAVE to check that out. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I think the video works well with the song, as they both are open to interpretation, but both also evoke strong feelings. I think one can assign one's own meaning to it, and even if it's a different meaning than everyone else has, it's just as valid, and just as "correct". Amazing song.

R.I.P. Chris, amazing vocals, beautiful man...Crazy vid, stunning music, Love it. The band is named after a sculpture in Seattle called "Soundgarden," and longtime speculation was that this song got its name from another Seattle sculpture called "Black Sun" by the artist Isamu Noguchi. (The piece is located in Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. It looks kind of like a huge, black doughnut and is aimed so you can see the Space Needle through the middle of it.) Cornell, however, was simply expressing some dark thoughts in song, Thanks so much guys, Blessings.

It's hard to not think that Chris wrote about his impending death quite often. This song, Like a Stone, The Day I Tried to Live, Fell on Black Days, Blow Up the Outside World, Live to Rise, etc etc. Dark, but beautiful. Chris was one of a kind.

This is one of my faves! It's about looking forward to an apocalyptic force to wipe out the fakes and sinners of the world. Love some of the suggestions for other music, Nothing Compares 2U, Say Hello to heaven, all good! Also Patience, Pretty Noose, Billie Jean. All amazing! Also look up Blow Up the Outside. It's hypnotic and cathartic, if you lose yourself in the song you can almost cry for Chris Cornell's thoughts. I did this at my lowest point and it pulled me from making bad decisions.

I was working in a remote northern town. They had an arcade in the mall (that was also the hotel, the bar, the RCMP station, the curling rink and arena, public library and grocery store), and that arcade had a pool table and a juke box. There were only two rock songs on the juke box. This was one of them. We poured a pocketful of quarters into it and selected it to play like, 30 times in a row. We stopped shooting pool for a while and went for dinner at the restaurant (also part of the mall building). When we came back, the juke box was unplugged. We plugged it back in and Black Hole Sunned for another hour.i
