Review of the Alpha One Niner (A19) Evade 1.5 Full which is one of the most popular everyday bags on the market and won the Carryology EDC bag of the year a couple of years ago. It has a great organizational layout, comfortable harness, plenty of space and comes in at a pretty reasonable price. If you are unsure what bag to go with and you want something unique and versatile, this is a good place to start.

Thanks Danny, solid video as usual. I owned one of the Evade 1.5 Lite versions (without the laptop compartment). I did not care for the Lite version for a couple of reasons: One, the bag was extremely heavy for what it could carry. Two, without the laptop compartment it was just too small to be useful. Three, the Matroskya pouches that were designed for the d-rings were awful. There are standard buckles sewn in with straps the end of the pouches that has to forced and twisted through d-ring (what a pain in the butt). Quality was very good and looked great. If your looking to carry small gear and can utilize the abundant built in organization this pack in the FULL version might just work for you. I would steer everyone towards the FULL version.

Thank you for watching and for the support! I think this should work well on most airlines (it will likely be over the weight limit on many but if the bag isn’t overly packed it should fit under the seat fairly comfortably)

Just got the full in 420d, I'm glad I did, as it is still noticably heavy despite being the lightest fabric available. The harness system is good at least. I've taken out the lower compression straps, bottom straps and the Velcro organizer, its nice and customizable. Kinda heavy and big for my everyday commute, but will make a decent carry on with a check in roller as it has has a pass through. Laptop pocket is really padded and roomy, side water bottle pockets are beefy and with straps they take tripods no problem.

Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! Both bags are really solid overall and I think the mous backpack has better weather resistance and laptop protection but I like the aesthetic, layout and comfort of this one so it’s probably the one I would personally lean towards

Hey Danny. Great video. I recently picked this pack up after using a GR1 21L for a bit but can’t choose between the two. If using one 99% of the time for a dad bag, work, and general edc, which would you pick?

Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice! I think it really depends on your preference for the harness (I like the evade better) and if you want the extra organization (water bottle pockets / admin pockets / etc). I prefer the more minimal set up and slimmer form factor if the 21 gr1 for edc but for a dad bag I might lean towards the evade?

@@dannypacks thanks for the input. I’m still leaning more towards the GR1 21L, as I also prefer the size. Any experience with the 1000D wrecking clothes? That’s my only concern when using for work.

@@Kdub780 I’ve heard that from a few people but haven’t really noticed it with my bag just yet thankfully (one caveat is I haven’t really worn merino or other more delicate fabrics with the bag so that might have been a different experience). Another option might be to consider a 500d gr1 which is still really durable

Had the A19 Evade 1.5 for over 5 years now and absolutely love it. On the heavy side but it doesn't bother me, I see it as a "mans" bag because of its weight when fully packed. Traveled the world with this pack and never disappoints, the compartments make it so easy to organize and carry so many items. On a side note you definitely have to be a "strong" because of the weight lol

Hi ! Please I really need an answer.. I’m going for a world tour soon, and this will be my edc backpack (hiking, bushcraft, visiting, etc etc etc ). Do you think I should take the 500D or 1050 ? I’m looking to gain weight but I need something resistant too… THANKS A LOT 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Thank you for watching and definitely a tough choice! I’ve had good experience with 500d as far as durability and it helps with weight, but if you are going to be doing that much with it, might be worth the additional weight to have the additonal piece of mind?

Thank you for watching and good questions! I would say the size is pretty comparable, but this is an upgrade over the recon in almost every way imo, better build quality / more comfortable harness / more useful organization (The one potential con is the weight of the bag)

Thank you for watching! Both are really awesome bags, the 2day can hold a bit more and has a simpler layout and this one has a clamshell style opening and extra admin pockets. Either will be a reliable and comfortable bag it just comes down to organization, size, and aesthetic preference

@@anthonyrampino7734 yes I have done a full review on the 2 day assault if you want to see how much it can hold, I think both can work well for gym use but the 2 day assault might give you a little more flexibility to hold bulkier items (shoes, towel, boxing gloves for example)

Although they won’t be the same if you are in the market for something similar, the evergoods CTB26, Fjallraven raven 28, mystery ranch catalyst 26, osprey Proxima or filson Dryden might be some good alternatives to check out

Shame they are so heavy. I can't trust the warranty which makes it a pass. Five years isn't much when others have limited lifetime at the price and the owner has some concerning financial crimes in his closet. Case was dropped on technicalities but still, if I can't trust an owner then I can't trust a company.
