Liked your reactions to Taka's interviews. His English is better than most Japanese band members and he has gotten steadily better. The band really loved American rock so their goal from their beginning in 2005 was to go worldwide. Taka writes almost all of the music and lyrics and he has over 110 songs! He added English lyrics to even their very early songs.

Thank you for reacting to this amazing band. I do enjoy you pausing and have something to talk about regarding the video. Yeah they are the biggest/most popular japanese rock band of this generation. As for the video of Ed Sheeran and ONE OK ROCK on stage that you saw, it is from 'Eye of the Storm Japan Tour 2019/2020' in Yokohama Arena. Both of them sang Shape of You. I'll definitely look at reacting to that but something tells me with it being a newer one from OOR and an Ed Sheeran song it might get blocked pretty easily 😢 Thanks for the suggestion and glad you enjoy the reactions tho!!

@@dontknowdrew9027 It's Warner, not Amuse, who has the rights to it so I think you should be OK. There have been other people who've reacted to it and their videos are still up.

What makes me quite sad is that, even before they toured with Ed Sheehan, they were supposed to tour with Linkin Park in 2017... That would have been so freaking huge for them and amazing to see (mostly for me because they are my 2 favourites band ever), but before it happend Chester died and they (obviously) cancelled the tour... (Taka performed at the One More Light concert tho) About the evolution of their style, their early albums are more punk rock, then they did some awesome punk-pop-rock, and nowadays they're more pop rock, also the lives versions are usually more "rock" than the studio ones.

Awww man, thats so sad... Yeah them and Linkin Park would have been AMAZING to see. Rest in piece to Chester 🧡 Super interesting to hear their transitions between different styles. Those are all genres of music which I love so I guess One Ok Rock are pretty perfect for me 😂

Dude, you owe it to yourself to check out the sister band called MY STORY, (yes,it’s all caps) The lead vocals of them and ONE OK ROCK are brothers, and both share the same intensity and creativity for this awesome sound

Japan is very self sufficient when it comes to their music industry and infact are the second largest in the world after the US in overall revenue. They are also very traditional, as in, they still heavily rely on physical sales, dvds, CDs etc. So most of them are satisfied just being successful in Japan. Very few are as ambitious as OOR who targeted the international market since the start. Band Maid the one I mentioned previously is also another one who actually have a bigger fanbase outside Japan. Among the older bands, L’arc en ciel, Loudness and Dir en grey are probably the most successful internationally. L’arc en ciel sold out the Madison square garden in 2012, while loudness made it to international rock charts in the 80s or 90s. If i recall correctly they were the first to ever do so. Though things have finally started to change for the better, atleast for us international fans who always had to order their CDs for double the price due to several taxes and shipping charges all these years. With the undeniable growing popularity of digital platforms, many Japanese artists have started to put their music out officially in youtube and other platforms like spotify. Its unfortunate that many of us missed out on the massive Japanese rock/metal scene in our teens. But well, better late than never I guess.

Thats super interesting... bands like One Ok Rock do seem to be at the fore-front of breaking through on to the international stage which hopefully will allow lots of other Japanese artists to blow up too because there's clearly so much talent there. Will definitely have to do some Band Maid reactions, I think. Will probably record either tonight or tomorrow but if there aren't any on the channel soon then keep reminding me!! Got so much I wanna react to then I forget stuff so easily 😂

@@dontknowdrew9027 No problem :) They actually just dropped the live performance of a fan fav track so the fanbase is quite active now. So its a great time to get into them. You can just start with that as well. Its "Play", should be the highlighted release in their official channel.
