Sabo really saw the final boss and said “LEEEEEROY JENKINS!!!”

The way Sabo just WENT for it. No hesitation and hiding, just went for it. Saw Imu but didn't stutter. Was ready to get away with Cobra. Mans a beast.

It is so nice seeing Wapol a character that has been relegated to jokes and cameos for over a decade just to literally come crashing in and save the day is what I love about one piece.

You know, when you know the Will of D is an inherited will, Sabo literally inherited three D’s Will now. Ace, by eating his fruit, Dragon, by being the revolutionary’s second in command, and now Cobra by delivering his message to Vivi and Luffy. Bro’s an honorary D for me.

I know this is only one panel from this chapter, but once again Fujitora proves that he is the best Admiral.

I just realized the picture that is of Sabo standing over Cobra in the news... That picture was taken in the same room as 5 transformed Gorosei and Imu. His Den Den Mushi was in the room the whole time Morgans knows, and he leaked that he knows to the Gorosei by putting that picture in the paper

I like how no one assumes that people who are strong with haki... might actually also know how to hide their presence.

Hats off to Sabo for going in fists blazing in this chapter. He might not have saveed Cobra but he understands what he's gotta do at least.

Clearly there is a connection between Roger stating that they were too early at laugh tale and that Imu mentioned that more D’s are popping up more recently. Which is also why Shanks is making his move now to find the One Piece because he knows this is the era Roger was too early for

God I wanna see nothing more than the faces of Imu and the Gorosei when they learn that Big News Morgans of all people has learned their secret.

I love how Sa D Bo is like an in world version of our Buggy D Clown and Down D Stairs! Also love how Caribou and Wapol are two hateable small villains who overhear something that drags them into the main plot

The reason Sabo wasn't noticed is because observation haki isn't as passive as some people believe, you have to be expecting a threat to forsee it like how Flampe got the drop on Luffy without him OR Katakuri noticing immediately, after they got dropped in on by Sabo they were much more tuned in on other potential invaders and so sensed Wapol.

Thank you for having a non-spoiler thumbnail + title. You strike a good balance between being clear without giving away surprises.

I kind of like how in the Viz translation that came out today, Wapol reaction to Cobra’s death is “I hated the guy… but I’m not so low that I’d celebrate [his death]!” Just feels like a great example of the “even evil has standards” trope.

I don't think they're awakened devil fruit users, I think it's like they're different beings entirely or else Sabo wouldn't say "I didn't think hell was located here at the top of the world".

I’d say the Gorosei and Imu weren’t expecting any threats in the literal core of the World Government’s capital, so they weren’t using Haki at all; but once Sabo put them on high alert, they sorted that issue and then noticed more folks nearby that also needed to be aggressively sorted 🤣

I like that this chapter kind of confirms that had Im not shown up Cobra may have lived. Which explains partly the Elders panic last chapter. They weren’t intending to kill Cobra. And Im showing up meant they had to.

The shadow that killed Cobra came from Imu. Then Imu unleashed literal hell from the Void he draws his power from. But Imu clearly has some kind of devil fruit and it's just bizzare that no one has realized that. Imu's angry eyes are huge over the top of all these shadow blobs the whole time. It's going to be a b*tch to fight. The True Sun God is literally the only person alive that even has a chance against it.

Maybe Lili had the paw paw fruit and used it to scatter the poneglyphs? Would make a nice connection to the Vivi gets Kuma's fruit theory

If Mu means nothingness/void then the Empty Throne becomes "Imu's Throne" and the Void Century becomes "Imu's Century" Goda being goda

Dude... The sad part about this chapter I feel is that it kind of throws a wrench at the whole "Cobra was prepared to die" thing... Poor man knew he would most likely not get any answers but here we can see that dying like this wasn't precisely in his plan... He was lucky Sabo was there. Otherwise his death would've 100% been in vain :/

I agree that there is a connection between the void century’s name and Imu. Instead of the void century inspiring Imu’s name though, I think it’s the other way around. The void century is really called that because it’s Imu’s century similar to how Blackbeard says at Marineford that this is his age now.

I think imu and gorosei never expected someone to be able to enter the room and since they do not engage in battle much thier observation haki was dormant and also add sabo's very good stealth to that it can be made sense of why they couldnt sense him and after short skirmish while killing cobra and chasing sabo thier haki got energized and wapol being wapol shaking with shock and fear and zero stealth was found out immediately.

I wonder if Lili had the Paw Paw fruit? There's no way she could move giant stone structures under Imu's nose. So I think teleportation from the Paw Paw makes the most sense. It could tie to the Kuma story and thematically to what he did to the Straw Hats in Sabaody.

I only have one wish, next chapter Sabo needs to give Vivi a piece of Luffy's Vivre card and the message to bring to him. There's no doubt in my mind anymore, she's coming back to the crew because no place in the world is safe for her until the WG is fully destroyed

I find it hilarious that Wapol is still a relevant character at this point in the story😂

So in this chapter we establish... - Fujitora continues to sabotage his fellow marines - We are getting ideas behind the D, and why Lily was erased from the history books - We establish that all the Gorosei have Devill Fruits, and were able to take Sabo's attack with no issue - Imu also may have a Zoan ability, considering he literally eats Sabo's fire Man Luffy and the Strawhats are in for the fight of their lives in this final arc, hell we may see Saturn fight when we return to Egghead.

Just a slight thing to add about Sabo's attack. Smothered Mate is a chess term in which the king is unable to move (due to being surrounded by other pieces on the board) and comes under attack resulting in checkmate. It happens very rarely in actual chess games but it's one of the neater checkmates. I'd love for Sabo to also have an en passant attack to go on the theme of chess attacks

Crazy thought, what if Imu and the Goresei are devils released from thier fruits taking up a humaniod form, so instead of being defined in thier original form they are shadowy instead.

This chapter was amazing, I never would have expected Wapol of all characters to do something heroic.

I always get the deep sense that since Sabo ate Aces fruit, Ace has been with him. He's fearless because he's never alone regardless the circumstance. The way he moves, he's presence. I feel Ace. I feel the fire within Sabos soul and Ace being there right beside him. I just feel it.

The way the Gorosei/Imu chased after Sabo and Cobra reminded me so much of the final chase scene from Spiderman 64 where you had to escape from Doc Ock fused with Carnage

After 1085 chapters, it finally feels like we’re actually getting to the end of the story. Questions are being answered, voids are being filed, characters are talking! I just like to imagine the empty throne actually being super covered in dust, layers upon layers of dust, never been cleaned. But there's 2 giant buttcheek marks on it, obviously left behind by Imu, but no one notices it.

The first thing that came to mind about Imu referring to themselves as mu was the kanji/radical 厶 which means I/myself and is the original form of 私 (watashi). 厶 is pretty much the same as the mu katakana ム. I feel like Oda's being punny by having Imu use mu since it's already part of Imu's name, but also an actual first person pronoun.

Flabbergasted can be traced back to 1772. But its origin is indeed unknown. One can theorise that it combines the act of being aghast and flabber being derived from to flab, to strike. Another popular theory is that it stems from the Scottish Flabrigastit which means “to be worn out without exertion”

I always assumed observation haki wasn't automatic, just like armament. You have to either actively use it or train yourself to keep it up constantly, like Katakuri. That would explain why Imu would sense Wapol but not Sabo. He was surprised by Sabo because he wasn't using obs. haki, but once they started to physically engage and started using haki, he could sense Wapol.

For me the true horror with sitting on the empty throne is that it symbolizes what many rulers in one piece probably knew deep in their hearts but never said it out loud, that their power and authority mean absolutely nothing! This council they have means nothing, the whole system has been one lie and that the world is ruled by the whims of someone they don’t know. In the words of Azula “I didn’t beat you at your own game because you were never even a player to begin with”

I bet Im ate the Void-Void Fruit, which robs the user of his or her physical form, leaving them nothing more than a Shadow that they can manipulate at will. In its awakened state, they can extend this ability to other people, places, and objects, and can even extend over to other Devil Fruit abilities. Using the full power of the Void-Void Fruit, Im is able to erase entire locations from existence. There's probably a lot more to it, but I think it makes sense for Im to hold the powers of the Void-Void Fruit.

Sabo mastered the art of moving so incredibly slow that he’s invisible to the eye.

I really loved that short conversation between Sabo and Cobra. And it really does show the similarities Sabo and Luffy have as brothers.

6:33 Imu speaks informally (verbs are in the short form, not in the ます (masu) form), but in a very old-fashioned way. They refer to themselves as ムー ("Mu" or "Muu"). They also use the sentence-ending particle "ぞ" (zo), which is a masculine and commanding way to speak. This is also shown in multiple other sentences, as they actually use the (rare and usually rude) command conjugation.

I knew the Lili is Imu theory was wrong from the start because according to the Japanese fans, the Japanese version of the previous chapter implied Imu said Lili's name with anger. Now in this chapter we see why Imu is angry with Lili.

By ‘the name of D has been popping up more recently’, Imu may have been referring to the significant people making waves with the name D (Luffy, Law, Blackbeard) recently, rather than the actual number of people with the name D out in the world

I've got a wild idea off this chapter. What if the shadowy silhouettes we see of the Gorosei transforming isn't just for dramatic secrecy, but is actually literally happening? And it's not their power, but Imu's power. I don't know what fruit it could be because we already have shadow, dark, ink, and soot; but what if Imu's power is to coat/change/control others.

At this point I'm starting to be convinced that Imu is not in silluete, they're just a shadow or a shadow-like being of some sort

It's been a long time since a chapter has left me this stunned, after I finished reading it I just had to take 5 to let it all wash over, it's just so bizarre to think how far we've come, we started with a bouncy kid leaving his tiny village in a dingy and over time watched as the story exploded to include Geopolitics, questions of mortality, preaching about what it means to aspire for freedom under oppression, and what a person is willing to do to achieve their ambitions, and yet it's also a story where the MC uses a dragon as a skipping rope, a wedding cake is used as a vital plot point, a guy who uses a sword by holding it between his teeth is one of the best characters, and one of the main characters is a talking skeleton with an afro that sings and tells dad jokes (and the reason he does it is absolutely heartbreaking), and it somehow manages to make me believe all of it, these elements should not work together, it should be a jumbled mess of too many plot points and too much comedy but Oda somehow pulls it off

I've always thought of the poneglyphs as being stone infused with Haki simular to a black blade they were regular stones but when they were carved, the kozukis imbued their haki/will into them turning then into the unbreakable black stones we see in the story. Then the rode/lode poneglyhs being the most important poneglyhs were carved with ryou or some advanced version of armament haki giving them their red appearance.

My buddy and I are currently on that brief window between Dressrosa and Zou while we're going through our first watch of the anime. I've been keeping up with the manga since the end of the raid on onigashima. The sheer wildness of seeing Jabara, Wapol, and Vivi being plot relevant and interacting in a scene together is a bizarre and wild experience. Absolutely incredible.

I think that the one shadow coming down the Empty Throne is Imu. He blocked Sabo's attack and started to come down.

I can't believe that Wapo did something heroic, even if it was an accident.

There are actually 6 silhouettes in that panel. Imu is the silhouette climbing down from the throne (I doubt the gorosei are even allowed to be anywhere near the empty throne). Sanji's uncle is slightly hidden behind Saturn and looks like he's just starting to emerge into his zoan form. You can see him more clearly in the next panel. By the way, if we assume Oda deliberately made how they are ordered left-to-right in the panels align with how the planets are ordered as tekking pointed out in his video, then we'd have: Saturn - Saturn Jupiter - Sanji's Uncle Mars - Ghandi Earth - Imu Venus - Gandalf Mercury - Gorbachev

What if people sacrificed themselves, using the Op Op Fruit to make the Poneglyphs immortal? Just came to my mind and it would explain why they are deemed as indistructable.

So in the panel where Sabo is running with Cobra and we see the 6 silhouettes. Five of those silhouettes are in the same position the gorosei were in around Cobra, so using that as a reference. Gorbachev seems to be a warthog Gandalf looks like a feathered serpent Saturn looks like a water buffalo Sanji's uncle looks like the guy from the painting the scream And Samurai Gandi is maybe a praying mantis.

Hey Tekking, amazing video as always If you look closely when the Gorosei transform, the 'Sanj's uncle guy' is not the awakened Zoan transformation, he is actually a bit hidden Look closely, you will find him on the left between Saturn and awakened zoan Gorosei(samurai Gandhi for sure). This is on the panel where Sabo is standing sand says 'I thought I could take them in one move' . The guy on the staircase is Imu sama. So, on the right of Sabo(in the same panel) is the god Mercury as you mentioned, then Venus, then Imu(earth) in the center, then awakened Zoan Mars(Gandhi), then Sanji's uncle(transfomed) and then Jay Garcia Saturn at last(sad). This is more clear in the next panel where you will see Sanji's uncle transformed between Gandhi and Saturn and yet Imu's eyes are in the center enraged. So, from right to left Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. If you know astrology, you can guess the characteristics of each Gorosei member. Let's see how Oda rolls this. But for sure, these are all Gods. Also, as per vedic astrology, Saturn is sad, cold and an enemy of the Sun. Also, Saturn is a god of justice. So, it makes sense that Saturn is coming to deliver justice to Dr. Vegapunk and he will probably clash with Sun god due to the natural animosity.

The way I interpreted Imu’s choice of words made me think that maybe the Gorosei really DONT have any info on Lili. She never went to Alabasta because she was planting the Poneglyphs in specific places that she may or may not have know that Imu could not fully reach. She was probably being searched for by the original World Government but maybe Sea transport wasn’t fully fletched out back then. She could’ve been the “Original Pirate” in the World Governments eyes and the letter was probably describing what she specifically did, where she hid the most important (or clues), or even spoke about what happened during Imu’s time which lead her to abandon her country

We've been saying we're in the last stretch for the past few chapters, but this Chapter REALLY takes the realization to a whole different level

"Chapter begins were it left off" that's honestly the thing that surprised me the most this chapter

I have a theory of what the D is, not what it means, but what it is. It's not new, I've seen people talk about it before, but i think this chapter might make it more possible. It's not a traditional last name, one that comes from your family, but it's a name that you give to yourself, I think the D clan might not be one family, but one crew united under the same flag and idea, JoyBoy's pirate crew, where every member decided to add the D on their names to symbolize they belong to it, and since it has an inherent meaning, they could pass it down through generations so the idea would remain. I think this chapter might give evidence to this, for example, how come IMU didn't know that Lili was a D? If they fought together to defeat Joyboy and his clan of the D. Why did she fight against them if she was one of them, unless she didn't know, and if she didn't know she was a D, then is the D something way more ancient than the void century? I have a different idea. If the D is the mark that you join JoyBoy's crew, that you sympathize with his objective, then could it be that after the 20 kings won and she realized they were wrong, she switched sides and added the D to her name? I think the little scene with Sabo, Ace and Luffy might be a hint to this, after all, it was likely Luffy who said it, a name it's just a name, if you want to have it, just add it to your name. If you sympathize with the D clan's dream, you can just add the D to your name and become one of them, you can fight for their cause. I think Lili might have done that, she might have passed with that name her inherited will to cobra and Vivi, and after that day, Sabo might actually have a D in his name that we don't know about. Also, this just kills the Lili = IMU theory that I didn't believe in, but it's very interesting, maybe Lili was the most trusted by IMU so her mission was to hide, destroy or take the poneglyphs to marijoa, but she released them to the world. We didn't get to read the full content of the letter, but maybe it said the poneglyphs must be resurrected, it kind of fits the cut of dialogue bubble.

this is literally the most insane chapter I've ever read in one piece. I have never been more excited or blown away by a chapter and i've been following the manga since enies lobby arc. Most hype I have ever been for one piece. Great chapter and great time to be alive

I don't think "Lily's Blunder" is just that she refused to swear fealty to Imu. They made it clear that the Blunder was directly responsible for the poneglyphs existence and relevance. So I have to assume she did something more detrimental to the World Government than just leaving. My guess is it was during her voyage home. I'm still in love with the theory that she founded Amazon Lily. So the order of events I'm thinking are: -Left the World Government -Blundered big time (though I bet she did it intentionally) -Founded Amazon Lily I'm guessing she didn't return home so that she wouldn't endanger her family with her presence

Luffy not having internal dialogue should really just mean that there's nothing going on in his head most of the time :/

Hey Tekking, something I noticed in this chapter is that Imu referred to themself in third person as 'mu'. I know this is Japanese but an interesting fact is that the Greek letter mu derived from an Egyptian hieroglyph for water which the phoneicans then simplified which developed into greek. Yes!, mu derived from the meaning of water, and from Egypt no less, of course the Alabasta connections to Egypt and the (water) sea/devil fruit connections are clicking immediately, anyway I'd love if you could maybe expand on this and you could make a cool video on this as I know just like me you love history. Anyway been a fan of yours for over 6years, great vid as always.

I think the gorosei's devil fruits are all mythical zoans and they've been hidden because oda will reveal them later. However, Im's in particular is quite interesting, it's a formless giant. I've seen someone say it's a umizoki, a japanese sea priest. It's a pretty cool theory

The giant shadow on the stairs on the Empty Throne is Imu after he swallowed the fire, the Gorosei are all under him. In the second panel you can see each one of them better. Saturn = Bull Horns Sanji Uncle = Big Head Gandhi = Humanoid with the sash Ganfall's Brother = Big Bird and Gorbatchov = Elephant.

I get the impression that cobra was killed in that moment out of fear. Once he confirmed the name. They killed him in case he was a part of her plan. Based on what she did in the past and how damaging it was to them.
