Lol that is why he will go down as one of the greatest Antagonist in Manga history. He is as flawed as the MC, and your also witnessing his journey as well .

And that contrasts Luffy perfectly. His crew isn't filled with power house, but they all compliment each other. While blackbeards crew is purely about strength and no tactical advantage

Another thing I love about Blackbeard is how his plans aren't really "Necessary" for his over-arching goal. He does plan for things that would benefit him greatly, wild bets that could instantly make him a superpower... But he doesn't DEPEND on them. When he pulled the Marineford War plan, he did it assuming that it would ahve very little chance of actually working out... But he also wouldn't lose anything if it didn't work out. At most he would make more of an enemy of people that were already his enemies. And since he works like this, he can simply pull things up in the moment "Just in case". In this case, he basically saw that he had the Coby the Hero at his grasp, so he simply took him on the spur of the moment. He probably didn't even ahve a plan for him at the moment, but he's a Hero, so he would surely end being useful later on. And if not, then he could simply sold him to the Cross Guild. Using him as a Hostage to force the World Government to make him a King has 3 possible results: -1: It works out, and he's made King. -2: It doesn't work out, and he sells him to the Cross Guild. -3: It doesn't work out, and he kills Coby. Blackbeard has nothing to lose and a lot to win with his plans, letting him pull of crazy stuff that nobody on their sane mind would dare to try, which I find truly brilliant from him.

And Garp is doing this at 79 years old, damn near 80 years. Now, more than ever after this chapter, I want to see this crazy old coot in his prime, kicking ass and taking names like the true warrior that he is. And perhaps also see one of his many fights against Roger where they're going at each other seriously. Speaking of which, it spoke volumes to me when Roger himself stated that both he and Garp have tried to and almost killed each other many times during their fights, and then later, telling the marines to only bring either Garp or Sengoku (shout-out to Sengoku, btw). Oh, and when Garp was introduced, it was stated that he cornered Roger many times as well that I suppose lead to said fights. I simply say all this to put some respect on Garp the FIST, one of the greatest rivals of the Pirate King.

I dont know much about guns and stuff but isn't it easier to aim with an actual sniper than a slingshot? Also, I don't know how far away she was, but close enough that Koby could hear her.

@@Hpmanenz Distance is always a factor because you gotta consider the wind that will sway the projectile slightly You would expect using a gun to be much easier than a slingshot, but anime logic might put them on equal terms, who knows... But you gotta also consider the difference in diameter between the projectile and the target. Shooting someone's torso from farther away is a lot easier than getting your bullet right into the barrel of someone else's gun even if from a closer distance because it's supposed to be a tight fit, therefore allowing much less room for deviations

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the last panel too. Shanks, Garp and Dragon are probably the three most hyped up characters of whom we've barely seen any action/attacks from (Mihawk as well), in over 1000 chapters. Last chapter had Shanks showing his first named attack, now its Garp showing his first (real) named attack...it would be cool if next chapter is finally Dragon's turn.

I was thinking that too, but given Dragon's current location, I'm not sure what relevant character he could fight right now.

we don't know if Garp is a member of Sword, it told us of other members of Sword but it didn't say anything for Garp. He came after Coby because he's "my irreplaceable protege".
