Zoro could cut things from range pre-timeskip so it's safe to say that Mihawk can do it even better and Garp can punch Battleships with his bare hands without what you're hinting at too.

Haha your son is kinda like me 10 years ago lol, when I was 17 I watched Naruto and when I tried watching a few eps of the One Piece anime I just couldn't stick with it cause of how old it looked and it turned me away from that one until this year. After this show came out I binge-watched the anime in about a month or 2 and I'm so glad I actually did, the show gets even better after where it ends here! Can't wait to see how they bring in some of the characters that will show up next season!

There are a couple minor characters who were left out for runtime reasons, and they actually physically stop the villagers from getting involved in the fight at Arlong park because no one in the village is strong enough to survive against a fishman. In the live-action, they kinda rush it a bit but the Straw Hats do talk them out of joining the fight at Arlong Park instead.

32:31 Shanks didn't come back to meet luffy because of the promise they made at the end of ep2. Their promise was that luffy has to return the hat to shanks but ONLY AFTER luffy becomes a great world renowned pirate. They can't meet till then or they will break their promise.

No Spoiler answers, Zoro's sword is one of special swords that can cut things better than normal swords. Barrel thing is a Cast off ceremony and it was also in the Anime, it is a moment for recalling their goals going forward for us. The Villagers were stopped by the Strawhats. People in this universe can get strong based on training, just like Naruto's universe, you can train learn new methods of powering up yourself. Luffy in this Live-action didn't wore plot armor whatsoever, cuz when you move forward in the series or if you watch anime or read manga you will learn about his powers and abilities more.

The bounty wasn't commissioned by Garp, it was actually Nezumi (the mouse looking marine). In the live action Koby says "Nezumi's final act of revenge"

In the anime the villagers tried fighting the Arlong pirates twice. When the straw hats where going to Arlong park they convinced the villagers to stay out of it. They probably had to cut in the live action 🤷‍♂️

They weren't needed like they were in the Manga/Anime, because Luffy doesn't get stuck in concrete and thrown into that pool/ocean thing.

Japanese currency is measured in small fractions, like our pennies. 1000 yen ~= $10 USD (or whatever the current exchange rate is). Given that, I think there's a good chance that One Piece "berries" follows that same sort of division, where 1 berry is closer in value to 1 penny rather than 1 dollar.

Yes in this world, you can pretty much train to the point where it's like you have superpowers like Sanji or Zoro. I'm not gonna say Garp does or does not have a devil fruit but those punches like Sanji was just his strength.

I love that you forgot Buggy’s name, because Luffy constantly getting Buggy’s name wrong is one of the great running gags of the show. Hell, even in the live action, he’s already called him “Binky” and “Burpy”😆

Luffy calls only Shanks, Ace, Sabo, Gold Roger and his crew mates right. All other characters get a special name from Luffy like Tra Guy, Old Man, Pineapple Head, Monster Granny, Crab Chan, Momo and so on

The importance and power of "Dreams" is a major theme of One Piece. The barrel ceremony is way for each character to get a season wrap-up, revisit what they've gone through, and of course Nami establishes that she's finally going to be pursuing a dream that is her own (eg: "Not everyone gets to follow their dreams.") with her first real crew of friends.

A common Japanese ceremony at the beginning of a big event is key participants using mallets to break open a barrel of sake, kind of similar to a ribbon cutting. I always saw the One Piece barrel scene as just a variation on that tradition.

Mihawk and Shanks are basically rivals and very much respect each other, thats why mihawk said he likes luffys hat. He noticed its shanks old hat, so thats an additional reason he wouldn’t capture luffy. Also that Mihawk found out that luffy is Garps grandson isn’t a surprise and everybody should have connected that because luffy always introduces himself with his full name and everybody in the world knows Monkey D. Garp, but since the life action did the whole garp thing earlier and different they just didn’t mention his full name.

the barrel ceremony was done later in the manga/anime right before heading into the grand line, the first big step of the journey. in the source, they have one more town before heading there.

The fishmans skin is hard to pierce that was why the villagers attacking would have done nothing but have the straw hat crew have to stop fighting and come to their defense Zorros sword and skill could cut many of them . But if you rewatch the fight not even Zorro could slice the huge fishman Karoobi in their battle. It was up to Sanji . The Fishmen who Zorro couldn't kill but could cut enough to be taken out of the fight ran off and were the ones the Marines were sent to go search for by Garp.

Devil fruit eaters will say/show their powers in the show. Garp does not possess a devil fruit power, he is just very strong. Most new viewers think he has a fruit power but unless he says otherwise then he does not. Devil fruits will pretty much be super natural abilities and will be called out by the characters. New viewers/reactors often confuse super strength or super speed as Devil fruit powers but that is because the show is going by anime logic/physics, if you plan to stick to live action then try to remember that super strength/speed/defense does not mean the character ate a Devil fruit.

Nami told the Villagers it was her fight, and Luffy corrected her and said it was their fight (staw hats) they new the towns people would get hurt. Buggy sees himself as only for himself, he has his reasons, but it will take a lot more for him to grow and change.

They mentioned that Garp turned down being an admiral. All the admirals are extremely overpowered (much stronger than Luffy), so that is the level he is at. Shanks is one of the most powerful characters in One Piece

Don't worry, Luffy is unbeatable in East Blue because he is one of the great players there, but in Grandline he will have a lot of difficulties, a display of power was with hawk eyes almost killing Zoro easily

i only started watching the anime after the live action, and tbh i skipped most of the stuff that was already shown in the live action, just noted down the diferences and continued with the next arc after arlong. I didn't really like the older art style and animation 😅

Why would there be a 1:1 ratio to Dollars from a fictional currency invented by a Japanese man? I know, this is for some weird reason hard to imagine for Americans, but other countries deal in different currencies. Woudn't it be much more likely that he imagined it similar to the Japanese Yen in value? You know, the currency that first introduced the concept of money to him on his side of the world, which is, and I cannot stress this enough, not in the US of A. Anyways, the Yen has been of relativeley stable value between 100 and 150 Yen for a Dollar since One Piece's inception. So if you want a somwhat wonky sense of the Berry-value, your best bet would probably be dividing it by 100.
