Another reason why Bonney's powers might not work on Saturn is because he is immortal. He might be so damn old that Bonney cannot age him up or down enough to change anything about him.

You know what's chiling? What we learn in this chapter is only what Saturn has done to a few people over a relatively short time. The dude had at least 800 years. I bet he has done stuff that would make Orochi go "Wow." and to make it worse, he is only 1 of 5.

When Saturn called ginny "wife no. 8" i just assumed she was his 8th concurrent wife. Like he had 7 others at the Time and just added her to his collection.

Remember at the beginning of the arc, when Lilith mentioned that the Mecha Shark was difficult to control because the instinct of living things is hard to suppress? Anyway, wonder what drew Kuma to Egghead?

About who gave Luffy food.. If you look closely, in the panel where Luffy is shoving all the food into himself, there's a ramen bowl right next to him. In Chapter 1089, Kizaru is seen eating ramen from a bowl with the exact same pattern.

Just remembered, during Luffy's fight with Kizaru (Chapter 1092). The 'Iron Giant' was awaken but it still hasn't made an appance.

Have to love Oda's timing on this chapter as we get to ring in the New Year with Kuma ringing Saturn's bell, and if Saturn is a Ushi-Oni as we expect Kuma will literally be ringing an Ox Bell, just like Luffy did at Marineford just over 500 chapters ago. Ox Llyod would be proud.

Taking this from the bloopers of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, paraphrasing a bit but it was just too on point: Oda: "This is what you desperately wanted isn't it?" Fandom: "Please don't die, Kuma!" Also the Fandom: "FUCK HIM UP, KUMA!"

One thing we didn't consider, Kizaru was doing the Sun God dance in the flashback. What if even the Admirals don't know the Nika truth? But now Kizaru has fought him and like Bonny he only had a vague description, but Saturn has sort of spilled the beans even if by implication. Bonny hasn't put it together, but Kizaru might have and now its an oh shit moment...for him. Not just because the god is real, but maybe he actually used to worship him as well.

Even though I was absolutely expecting it to happen, Kuma showing up and blocking Saturn's deathblow on Bonney after she broke down and lost the will to live and then decking Saturn in the face like Luffy did to Saint Charlos back in Sabaody might be my new favorite scene in all of One Piece. Also, if Kizaru refuses to turncoat after hearing Saturn admit to being the one who did that to Bonney's mother, ruining the life of his own daughter, and trying to destroy the humanity of the man who stepped up to become that little girl's true father (all just to conduct super messed up science experiments) then I will be unbelievably disappointed in him and he might become my 2nd most disliked character after Saturn himself.

I think that it would be funny if after this Kizaru goes back to Sakazuki and goes like "Man we need to do something about the Marines because it it is currently being run by god damn demons!"

Worth remembering as well that Kizaru's justice is "Unclear/uncertain justice" he doesn't know what he wants, considers himself a "cog in the machine" and prefers to take orders rather then lead, the one thing we know he believes in is that he "won't ignore a man determined to fight for his duty."

Kizaru being vague with his idea of justice is very relevant to the properties of light. Light is both a particle and a wave and is affected by gravity despite having no mass. Light is weird man

I think the Bonney not being able to age Saturn might be because of the eternal youth surgery considering he looked the same at God Valley he would assumedly look the same 100 years ago or 100 years into the future.

I'm like 99% positive that Caribou was the one to give Luffy his food. I think a lot of people forget, but Caribou is in fact on Egghead Island right now!...

Kizaru's unclear justice is slowly turning into clear justice

I dont think any punishment or karma can soothe even a grain of vindication the fandom requires that Saturn suffer, after this chapter.

One thing to note, that a lot of people seem to have missed - when Kuma lands he immediatelly says "30...". I believe he probably has already activated self-destruct mode and has less than 30 seconds left. Plus I do believe it's Caribou who delivered food to Luffy (again) and Kizaru just saw everything, but chose to ignore him and that's the reason for "..." near Kizaru.

Saturn is a monster in every sense of the word. I hope Kuma teams up with Nika Luffy so they can take turns laying him out.

I cried. I had not cried when last chapter came out. I had cried not when ginny died. But 12 year old wanting to die because she loves her father, her knowing everything he had gone through... it broke me.

I just thinking since Saturn explained how the devil fruit of Bonnie works that this is going to lead to an interesting scenario for the bastard. Up till now, when Bonnie was doing the Distorted Future Nika form, she only been copying the rubbery body portion because that's how she perceives Nika. But if she realizes that Luffy is Nika, the next time she takes on that form, she basically goes gear 5. Saturn basically put himself in a position where he's not getting his ass kicked by one sun god nika but two sun god nikas. And possibly getting blown up with th bomb he had put in kuma. Karma's come to bite him in the ass super hard and it's gonna be glorious.

Saturn seems like a more mess up version of Vinsmoke Judge I didn't think that was possible.

idk who said it but someone said no matter how much they experimented on the robotic sharks they always somehow keep their true nature or urges. I think the same thing is happening to Kuma where no matter if they removed his humanity of thinking power, his true nature or urge to protect bonney is helping him push forward and keep that part of humanity within himself even if he is 100% a robot.

I always seriously appreciate when you go into depth on your thoughts on one piece character situations (in reference to the kizaru section), I watch you a ton specifically because you are so synced up with this story and its characters just like you were with bleach. And as such I always find it to be a treat to hear your perspectives each chapter and In between aswell.

The last chapter had that page of Kuma running, he kept running even after death to protect his daughter.

I believe that "Wife number 8" was referring to the number of alive wives he had at the time. He had 7 and she was eighth. Then she ended up being a failure, and he released her, thus freeing no. 7 spot for next one.

Bonney was her whole childhood inside where she couldn't imagine that much. If Kizaru was not directly the one giving food for Luffy it was somebody he could've stopped and he didn't

I don't think vegapunk did anything to kuma,because vegapunk is confused as well when kuma arrived on egghead. I think its just kuma's instinct to protect bonney that made kuma to egghead. Like what lilith said in the beginning of the arc,the instinct of living things can't be completely erased

I think bonney not being able to turn saturn into a baby is simply because she might be de-aging him 50 or 60 years, and he looked exactly the same back then, so she thinks it's not working.

Reading the Japanese, it does seem to be that Ginny is Saturn's wife, because he uses the possessive pronoun to refer to her as the 8th wife. But it seems like it's in a way where it's not "my wife" just "the wife" because he doesn't consider her worth owning as she's just an ant to him. Also, "wife" isn't technically correct, it's more like it's the 8th "woman", but I guess they've had to translate it as wife to make it slightly more palatable lol.

If Saturn was Bonney's biological father, it would create interesting dichotomy with Kuma, the adopted father.

You know what would be neat? If kuma asked vegapunk to implement some sort of A.I. of himself into the necklace for Bonney’s birthday present. By doing so, Kuma would be able to somewhat fulfill his promise to his daughter to travel the world together. Idk just a theory 🤷🏾‍♂️

It makes sense that Kuma is still somewhat in there. No matter how the worked on the robot sharks, their true nature would still be present

I think the fact that kizaru just got rocked by the sun god so hard his head warped is actually going to make him want to side with luffy more now that he has seen his strength first hand. He knows backing him isn’t a lost cause.

I just wanna think that maybe Caribou give Luffy all those food.. Remember Caribou stuck in the barrel at Sunny when Luffy and crews arrive at egghead.. Then he finally free when Kizaru blasted off Vegaforce-01 and Sunny thrown away.. After he free, he realize the only way he can escape from Egghead are stick with Straw hat pirate.. Thats why he give Luffy food so that Luffy can recover again just like at Wano before..

The excitement for the next chapter never disappoints me when reading One Piece.

On my first reading of the Chapter, I thought Saturn meant He gave the Age Age Fruit extraction to Ginny, but she didn't get the power and they passed to Bonney. I see now he said a baby received the extraction. So this begs the question: What did Ginny receive in those drugs? Maybe a different Devil Fruit Extraction?

It's interesting Luffy can still move while everyone else is paralyzed

When was the last time you seen Gorosi had an absolute victory. - They lost the Nika Fruit and had a hand in its Awakening. - Sabo, Vivi, and Waffle saw their King and escape. - Having some of their best Marines fall one by one and the ones that are replacing them they cannot and will not be controlled by them. - And then there's Kuma even when they enslaved him at a young age. killed his father. put on an island to be ended. took his girl gave her a disease that took her life. Taking away his personality and memories. Turning him into a cyborg and putting a bomb in him. Making him completely subservient to them. And I still ended up losing control over him. They take a short Victory while everyone else around them who opposes them get a long-term or a permanent victory. What do you guys think?

As far as Kuma suddenly taking off to egghead, I thought maybe Kuma, even in his current state, could sense that Bonney interacted with his memory bubble, and it jarred him into action.

33:15 We've known they discard them since Sabaody with Charlos. Let's say Saturn has around 10 wives at any given time, but if he's truly lived for 800 years (that sounds more and more likely every day) he might already be around 1500 total (10 wives every 5 years would be 1600)

If Saturn has a fruit and dies I think Blackbeard will get it or Kumas fruit, people keep forgetting the BB pirates are on the way.

Both OP and JJK's last chapter of the year ends with a good guy mid way through a very important attack against one of the main BBEGs. Can't wait to start new year with two failed attacks.

Feels like this chapter has vastly different translations. I've seen the one where it called Ginny a 'wife', but another one called her 'the 8th lady of Mari Goise'. Which still might imply that she was Saturn's wife (read as slave). Also the way I read it, Ginny was the one who was supposed to get the power, but Bonney inherited it along with Blue Scale which is unlike the Devil Fruits we known previously. Also about those powers of Bonney, people seem to think that once Bonney learns that Luffy ate the Nika Nika fruit, she will be able to take the form again. I feel the opposite. The way Saturn put it, it feels as if when Bonney finds out that Nika is a DF, she won't be able to take on the form at all. Because if she knows that people cannot eat two DFs, she won't be able to replicate that form. It is not a mythological warrior, it's a Devil Fruit and she wasn't the one who ate. However that knowledge might inspire Bonney and she might unlock another form, even stronger than Nikaish Future. And of course KIZARU FOR NAKAMA!!!! (and Carrot is on Sunny).

Just to add 2 cents: the sun shape of the necklace mirrors the sun shape in the middle of the cross in Kuma’s church, a cross not so coincidentally made of whale bones. Those 2 elements - the sun with circular dots for rays and the crossed whale tails/bones - are 2 elements of the kozuki crest and are tied to the poneglyphs and all that good Nika lore
