I'm extremely optimistic. Arlong Park is one of my favorite arcs. Gotta appreciate the effort to adapt up until that point.

I really want this to be successful. One piece is one of the greatest works of modern fiction and it's an incredible work of criticism and analysis of today's, tackling some extremely serious and dark real life problems and issues of our world through it's unique goofy style without ever being preachy. This is what makes this story a work of peak fiction.

I love how we can now re-theorize about one piece's early time since we are fairly certain they're changing some plot points. I'm personally of the opinion that they are coming to Baratie to retrieve nami, and Luffy gets his stuff knocked and does his whole "SHE"S THE ONLY NAVIGATOR FOR OUR CREW" and we go get her.

Man, I am so excited! And my theory is that Arlong will turn up at the Baratie along with his crew (perhaps after Luffy has sent Don Krieg packing) and Nami will "betray" Luffy and the crew by revealing herself as a member of the Arlong Pirates and will "willingly" (though not really) go with them to Arlong Park and so, the straw hats go after her and the Arlong pirates.

I like luffys actor 10 times more now then I did after the first trailer, in the first trailer his delivery felt off, now it feels good

You know what I like the most?? Apart from the strawhats, the rest of the veteran pirates actually look like pirates. Rugged, tanned, a little grimy from the sun and sea and salt

I think the big difference between this and other Live Actions, is there is a notoriously high difficulty in translating the source (way higher than the norm, but a massive amount). Bebop had zero excuse imo, it was arguably one of the easier anime to translate into Western Media. The talk about how improbable it is to translate this is far more akin to the speculation around Lord of the Rings when those movies came out.

The thing about shanks that feels off is that the straw hat is too small and has a strap which it did not have until much much later in the series. I think he'll look better without it.

Bro, there's Ruronin Kenshin, Gintama, Alice in Borderland, and quite other few live actions that ain't bad. Even Death Note 2006 (Japanese) one, was not bad. It's just that those bad live actions seem to be more impactful as they're really ridiculously bad.

regarding the reshoots, this is true. primary fiing wrapped in september-october 2022. craig fairbrass (zeff) went back to capetown in april 2023 to reshoot scenes. the kid actor for sanji was apparently replaced and now the kid who’s playing him is apparently the kid actor from sweet tooth!

All the clothes come from the manga color spreads and they look epic in live action and if they get more seasons we'll probably get to see them wear some crazy outfits

Speaking of Lord of the Rings, that had been the book series nobody believed anyone could adapt into movies. And it turned out to be one of, if not THE best, movie trilogies of all time ^^ So fingers crossed for One Piece.

I feel that they try to find a balance of showing enough for fans who know the story already that there's not much deviation yet not spoiling for those who doesn't know anything. Like Kuroneko sneak peeks looking awesome yet not spoiling the reveal.

WHAT!? Netflix Anime Adaptation is being good for once!? If One Piece manage to done it right. Maybe I have some high Hopes on Netflix Gundam. Why? Because Gundam is a bit easier to pull it off because you have more freedom interms of Robot designs. And Western Movies loves to do a War Movie to death. And Gundam is about War. IDK if One Piece can do it. I don’t see any issue on the Gundam. Because the Gundam LA Director is a huge Gundam Fan so I can see that executes well enough.

Hey man, random "non-one piece watcher" here. I've been watching a lot of these trailer reactions to the one piece LA even though I've never seen the anime or read the manga, I don't really comment on them much but since you talked about things related to non-OP fans converting etc I thought you might find my side of view interesting I guess? So, I've never really gotten into One piece mainly due to 2 reasons. 1 being that there are too many episodes, it feels like a massive never ending staircase where you cannot even see the end, so it's just really difficult to take those first steps. 2nd of all the early start of the anime is so old at this point that I find it hard to look at the "worse graphics from back then" if that makes sense. Either way - I am highly considering to go start watching it now, only because of this LA trailer. I've seen SO many reactions from die hard fans, and I have to say it's very infectious. It makes me want to find out why they love it as much as they do, it's just so fun to see people love something they're so passionate about. I'll definitely be watching the LA once it comes out, hope it's good to get multiple seasons ofcourse, and then soon start watching the anime as well. Hopefully I can get over the gripes I had originally and just binge through it :D

I have watched a lot of Manga live action and only few of them are my favorite which are AOT 1&2 (Titan Fight looks badass, Titans potrayed really well, ODM Gear looks good, Armin's actor is perfect), Bleach (Ichigo's actor looks great), Death Note JP (Ryuk's design is awesome) & One Piece (i love everything i see here so far, except Arlong should be taller)

People assuming scenes are ripped straight from the manga and look cheesy, when they're literally new for the show (arlong kicking luffy out of Baratie[Trope that's been around since wild west movies], Zoro stuck in a well ect..) Or "Gold Roger never actually said the wealth, fame, power, that was the narrator, they fucked up, he only said the part about his treasure" Or "Luffy didn't name the straw hats, Smoker did, this is going to be trash" Or "Garp couldn't have been at Rogers Execution, he was fighting Shiki with Sengoku far away" Like people, if you want the manga's story, just read it again, or watch the anime. Try and think of this as an alternate universe, the Live Action Universe

17:15 The thing that looks off is the hair, and to a smaller degree the hat. The hair should be a bit thicker but above all longer - you can see the bangs reaching nose or even lip height regardless of it being pre-ts or post-ts design. The hat has a slightly too short rim; probably for lighting reasons (we wouldn't want the hat to actually cat a shadow on the actors face even though that is its exact purpose!) and maybe also the way it looks in some other shots, but on the one we see there it just looks too little. The face and expression are spot on, though.

I think that Garp, Helmeppo, and Koby will be replacing Smoker and Tashigi in the story and getting all of their scenes and roles. From a cast economy standpoint, this would make a lot of sense. Luffy DOES have have MULTIPLE "frenemy" Marines to show up and fight by his side and then chase him because of "orders," and Smoker hasn't done anything in the story that you couldn't have Garp do instead, which would then make Luffy's grandad a bigger part of the story. Plus, then the scene in Loguetown is Dragon saving Luffy from GARP, which punches harder. The only real problem with that is that Smoker loses some fights that Garp would definitely win, but then you can just give him a little arc about being an over the hill fighter trying to get back in shape, which can be fun. In fact, you could give Garp Smoker's sea prism stone baton thing, something he started using as he got older, kind of like a cane but for fighting. Then, later on, if you give him that little arc I mentioned, you could have him intentionally go into a fight without the baton to show growth. As for Tashigi, they might just be dropping that bit with her and Zoro entirely. This time it'll be Koby and Helmeppo nerding out about swords while Zoro is shopping for a new one. And that goes for further down the line; It'll be Garp stuck in a cell with the Strawhats in Crocodile's lair, and it'll be Garp and Koby and Helmeppo on Punk Hazard, if we ever get that far. That's my guess, anyway.

I really hope they don’t cut Smoker out of the whole show. If they do though I get their reasoning. Regardless I’ve been reading the manga since 4th grade. I’m almost 30 lol. It’s amazing seeing the world of One Piece in “real” life. I really hope this show takes off. I think it has real potential to be a hit. Netflix knows they could have a goldmine with this. If it does well they’ll go all in. They have 10 plus years of content. Add in there’s already millions who will tune in to watch it. This could take One Piece to a whole new level. Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Game of thrones level. Whether excited or not, people will watch a few episodes to see how it turned out. I really want it to prove doubters wrong so they can enjoy it. It’s like a whole new series, and I’m that 4th grader reading the manga in shonen jump for the first time again. I’m beyond excited.

They will probably just skip all non-manga content in the anime and some stuff that’s in the manga, and also all narration becomes exposition, and lines altered without a change on meaning, lines added for deeper characterization. No way is Oda going to allow the plot to change too much without a very good reason.

One piece manga is, silly, ridiculous in looks, physics, powers, and super memorable, and that's exactly what I expect from the live action series, I have no idea what dudes who expect realism are thinking, they wanna see a one piece without everything that makes it great, one piece doesn't take place on planet earth, stop wishing for realism please.

I think I figured it out; they removed Johnny and Yosaku because they are pretty much useless characters, let's be honest. So instead of Nami having to steal the Merry at the Baratie and the rest of the crew then sailing with J&Y to get her, some fishmen just take her from Baratie, and the rest of the crew gets to continue using the Merry. That's what I'm guessing since I've heard absolutely nothing about casting for J&Y, so they're probably non-existent. So Kurobi the fishman is moved to Baratie to get Nami.

Sorry to kill the groove but I really hate what they are trying to do here. The camera work is garbage, the characters are poorly represented (especially the villains) Please Netflix, stop making live action from manga or anime, the original work was already a master piece. Stop desperatly trying to milk the fan out of their money.
