I think especially today in this day and age with social-media, binge watching, and instant gratification, most people couldn't begin to comprehend it. Also official translated manga is accessible nowdays like mangaplus, If you want free pirated version also so wide spread in internet. As one piece fan it's quite long time that i don't watch the anime, because i am already catch up with the manga, so i already know the plot, nowdays i am only watch the anime if biggest plot unfold or animated.

​@@NarendraTheComicJust search onepace on google. It's the first entry. Onepace is a fan project to edit out the extra stuff and filler the anime added. It tries to perfectly align with the manga (Comic). The project hasn't finished all 1060 eps so far but it has done the majority of the episodes. So you can watch the oncepace version and when its not available, you can switch back to the slower paced regular anime.

Even though the scope and story change so much over time I think it's safe to say if you're not into it after 52 episodes then it's probably not your cup of tea. And the original Japanese voice actors are doing the Japanese dub of the Netflix live action too which is just great. They add a lot of emotion to the anime.

Getting the original actors is such a great play; they're the voices people love and recognise as these characters. I will definitely be watching the anime in the japanese with subs; dubs have never really done it for me - nonsensei

@NarendraTheComic Narratively, I put it up there with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Avatar etc. You dont think it at first, you start One Piece thinking, "Oh this is just a nice little pirate adventure story." No. It goes waaay deeper than that. Theres incredible world building (The best Ive ever seen), plot, loveable and hateable characters, amazing but subtle character development, creative elements and unbelievable foreshadowing. The author, Eiichiro Oda, really put some deep thought into this series. You can learn something interesting about the story at the beginning only to realize that it becomes a major plot point later. If you do start the series, here is my recommendation on how to consume it. Depending on how patient you are, if youre okay with pacing issues, watch the anime (in original Japanese of course. English dub is fine, but the voice acting is far more emotional during the times it has to be). But if you want to consume the raw material quicker, personally I recommend reading the manga because the anime likes to censor some more darker tone plots that take place in the series and while the changes are fine, it can still make the series that much heavier. These are just my thoughts about One Piece. Theres more I could say but I think thats good enough and Im sure most people who have seen the series would agree lol

I am the sort of person who doesn't really enjoy binging content, so I don't mind a slower pace, I am however looking into the manga because it is held I such high regard. I understand that Oda is meticulous with his storytelling, and I do want to experience that properly - nonsensei

@@NarendraTheComic Oh yeah, I would definitely say read the manga first and foremost but maybe see how they did some of the things in the anime compared to the manga. One example here would be the walk to Along park. There is others, but I don't remember all of them. And there is actually one filler arc/anime only arc that most fans recommend which is called the G8 arc.

Some other commenters have mentioned the differences in the manga; I suppose they altered somethings for the anime. Despite that, it's very well loved, and the manga is heavily recommended. I might read the manga if I enjoy the series - nonsensei

@NarendraTheComic honestly I stopped watching at least 3 times due to the raw emotions this anime will throw at you but I just kept going. Sure it looks like a goofy weird dumb stretchy wannabe pirate boy doing dumb things; with some....interesting character designs but mygod the Rollercoaster of emotions and subject matter in this far surpasses even attack on titan sometimes.

It can be one of the best fictions without being one of the best animes. Lots of people have said that the manga is top tier - the GOAT. But the anime is a little more contested as the GOAT in comparison. More than anything, I am looking forward to the story - through the live action, the anime, the manga, I don't mind which - in all likelihood I'll sample them all to find out the medium I like the best for the story.

I understand what you're saying, but I imagine the story doesn't absolutely need 1000 episodes, but the creator has decided to give it more time, maybe because the side characters are well-loved, maybe because the story is ever growing. In the previous teaser reaction, people commented that we should watch up until episode 52, and see if we like it. I will be giving it that, but I do 100% see where you are coming from; the whole series is a very large undertaking! - nonsensei

If you watched it, you would 100% be on board with its length, and understand why it's so long. It's about the journey, not the destination. Each story arc takes place on a different island, and each island is vastly different, tonally, aesthetically, and has a different plot that could be its own awesome self-contained anime. One Piece is basically made up of several awesome back to back 26 to 52 or more episodes anime series that would each be phenomenal on their own as self-contained stories, but have the bonus of massive foreshadowing, set-ups that pay off in the next arc or several arcs later, and incredible worldbuilding the likes I haven't seen outside of Tolkien or Brandon Sanderson. I consider Oda to be on their level, if not beyond them, personally, and I'm someone who adores their works. Trust me, before you start, you think there are too many episodes, but once you inevitably catch up in just a few weeks, you realize there aren't enough.

@@NarendraTheComic It is always a difficult point to discuss. If you take the sheer scale of the lore, it is understandable why it takes 1000+ chapters. If you go by the fandom, they say 1000+ chapters is not even close to being enough for the story. One can always remove certain arcs and still write the story. But this can be said for any other story, such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. Does it reduce the quality of the story? It depends on the reader. I for one am glad it has 1000+ chapters since it is a whole lot of fun to read and the most recent chapters are some of the best in the series. Overall, I would miss any of the story arcs that OP contains if they removed it. Does the manga drag? Nowhere nears the anime but some stories move slowly at times. But the story and it's impactful points makes it more than worth the journey. This is a story that makes you cheer at 4 dudes just walking down the street, it makes you cry for a ship, it makes you rage watching a bunch of innocent people smiling, it makes you fall over in astonishment when nothing is happening, and it makes you amazed at the world's goofiest rubber boy. This is a story that goes headlong into themes such as government conspiracies, war, murder, theft, extortion, human trafficking, torture, drug abuse, child abuse, genocide, racism, human experiments, betrayals, just to name a few. And it does it in a story that for the most part, people who glance at it call "fun". To me, there is no other literature that has such a story writing and it makes the 1000 chapters of reading feel absolutely fun to ride. This is just my opinion though and others may feel different.
