The anime clubs I was excluded from 20 years ago because I like OP more than DBZ....

It's also bad if something gets too popular in the west, especially in USA. Because USA will start to lecture about political correctness and try to change anime with respect to their politics. Especially when One piece has a very political story. You'll see endless complaints about the anime. Sanji will be labeled as Transphobic for not finding them attractive or treating them as he treat other women. Nami's clothing choice will be labelled as "too revealing". The will say that the show is "less diverse". etc.. They already ruined their own media and now when people moved to other media, they are starting to attack those also.

On Disney+ if you watch certain films that were made during a different time period, they put up a disclaimer saying they were sorry for creating characters that may offend people in this time period. What a joke 😂😂😂 From a fan point of view all I Know is… Sanji without the cigarette and womanising won’t work. Nami clothing shouldn’t be an issue when half the USA population are practically naked. The unfunny joke is One piece covers everything we go through in the real world so realistically not only was Oda ahead of his time but he has catered to everyone, which in my opinion is the most politically correct thing to do in this snowflake society. Race, sexuality, gender, aging, disabilities, mental health, domestic abuse, child abuse, war, starvation, slavery, religion, animal cruelty, power struggles etc, EVERYONE is covered. I only watch in sub anyway and as far as I know I don’t think western politics will affect the Japanese version of the show.

One piece has become horrible , totally over rated , watched and following it for 10 years or more not religiously ofcourse there is nothing worth 1000 episodes , please if anyone could tell me what would be worth waiting 20 years for in an anime... please il wait

Stacking up on books, subscribing to japanese language channels and podcasts, making notes, and trying to use it everyday (but it's difficult since I can't just go to and from japan to interact with native speakers who alresdy don't talk much to eachother and generally hate foreigners )The main reason I'm learning it is because I don't trust the self righteous localizers in the west. Edit: as of currently I have only talked to 1 japanese native and that was an official godzilla artist at a convention.

Dragonball ended 2 decades ago and Akira Toriyama has been dead for months now .. One Piece was most profitable intellectual property in the world for the past 2 years....the Vegas done costs MILLIONS to run an ad on. And make no mistakes, this is a tribute, but it's also an ad. Dragonball has no ongoing franchise currently. Toei would benefit exactly zero percent by putting Dragonball on that dome. And Toriyama himself never would have had interest or given his time up for that lol. The people's passion was Dragonball. His passion were the Dragon quest games. He worked on every single one. And all of his close personal friends were in the jrpg industry. He said multiple times that his favorite project was Chrono Trigger. Nothing Dragonball related. He grew to dislike the series. They forced him to keep it going after Frieza . They did it again after cell. And that's why we have the monstrosity that is GT. Bottom line, Dragonball would have only gotten this if the show was popular when it was airing in Japan. Which it was not.
