​@@JustAnotherLokiStan im not sure its in the book, but i have consumed a lot of bridgerton content in a tiny amount of time and so i am absolutely sure that the queen will deem penelope the emerald. i thought about this when watching a queen charlotte interview way before season 3 was announced, where Golda says something suggesting something will change with the diamond but everyone seemed to look over it. i guessed that penelope will be named the emerald because the queen likes emeralds, and lo and behold when the season 3 trailer drops, penelope introduces her glow up with an emerald green dress. not only that, but there has now been a clip released of lady danbury and the queen talking about how everyone is anxious because the queen hasnt yet named a diamond (at the same ball where penelope introduces her glow up, this conversation also starts with them talking about penelope and lady danbury says to the queen to focus on the newer debutantes rather than penelope, who has been in the scene for 3 years already), and the queen is all like "well i've only thrown one diamond ball, why are they expecting anything". then after that, lady danbury points out that lady whistledown was the first to announce a diamond. with all of this, it just makes sense for the queen to announce francessca to be the diamond (following lady danbury's advice, looking at the new debutantes), but then to switch it up and catch everyone by surprise, and to make a move against lady whistledown, she will announce penelope to be the emerald. emeralds are also much rarer than diamonds, as wallflowers are rare too. but thats just a long tangent and flow of thoughts, everyones going to freak out when the queen names penelope the emerald, and i'll be like i told you so 😋
