I remember, back in 2019, when I started looking for a professional saw, ProHo recommended a MS 461. I bought 1, and a month later, bought a backup, because ProHo definitely believes 2 is 1, and 1 is none. I hope you have a good Easter Sunday, Wranglerstar family. God bless.

I just picked up a new ms462 Thursday afternoon. First thing I did the follow day was dump fuel on my boot. Then unfortunately I proceeded to run it over with my skidsteer. I'm still in hopes that it can be repaired. Dropped it back at the shop I got it from and purchased another just like it. With a little luck the first one can be repaired and I'll have a backup also

Hi Cody, as a stihl chainsaw mechanic at my local shop i saw a lot of the oil/fuel filter caps go wrong, mainly the locking ring system jumping past its place and being very hard to resite it if at all. The other thing of most of them are not interchangeable from model to model. Stock up on them as it can mess up a completely usable saw in the coming dark ages.
@richardlilligton8003
@richardlilligton8003 2 ай бұрын
My best advice would be to make sure that when you undo it whilst still in the tank that the lift flap is precisely aligned and as you take it out that the tabs are in the right place, it normally goes wrong when you reinsert and try to tighten and it then pushes the lock ring back on itself. Slowly Slowly catchy monkey

My Stihl dealer taught me a trick with the caps. Mark the off dot with a red sharpie and the on dot with a black sharpie. This way you know the off location and the on location and no more guessing. Works for both fuel and bar oil. Apparently the caps are different in Europe so that there is no confusion.

I don't really have a problem with Stihl caps. The very first couple times I fueled and oiled a Stihl saw I didn't get the cap on right and I had to fix it, but after that I kind of just automatically memorized exactly which position the cap needs to be in to put on correctly. The two tone black and white on the cap really helps. You want the little flip up latch open with the left side facing 8 o'clock and the right side of it facing 2 o'clock if I'm thinking right. That will line up the 3 different size pegs with the appropriate sized notch, then all you gotta do is give it a quarter turn and flip the latch down. I would say that Mr. ProHo here must not run his chainsaws very often anymore if he's having trouble with these caps.

But, if I get them from Walmart or any other grocery store, the cucumbers are mushy within 3 days. My friend's cucumbers could be in the refrigerator for a week or two and still hard as the day, I got them. I love to have a garden, but my yard is full of English ivy. I would have to use a Bobcat and rototiller it up. My Dad used to put them in vinegar and onions. Everything in the store has gotten expensive, so I want to grow my own.

I think using chainsaws is a lot like most else, routine is good. When my saws go to sleep at night, they are ready to go in the morning. Sharp, full, choke on, brake on, chain guard on. When I need a saw, I pull off the guard and pull the cord. When my caps are not seated tightly, they pop up when the cam is engaged. That is my clue to retighten.

Up until recently, I would think the whole cap issue was nonsense, but the cap is actually two pieces and sometimes it can get some wiggle in it and it can make it extremely difficult to get the cap on properly at times

The stihl caps are just fine when you take the time to understand it. Theres litterally a diagram on most new saws.

That’s a damn well tuned saw. Any chance we can get an in depth, step by step, H L & Throttle adjustment guide from you? I’d love to see how you take a saw - set everything to stock - then dial them each in. A lot of videos focus on the H & L jet but disregard the throttle, and throttles aren’t always set correctly, so seeing your methodology for all 3 from start to finish would be phenominal. Thanks in advance!!

I’ve had the same thing with the fuel/oil caps so many times… when a guy burns several gallons of fuel a day it happens more often than you think. And of course it typically happens when I’m near someone’s nice asphalt or concrete driveway that I after filling have to walk across hence dragging the fuel/oil all over nice pavement. I wish there was a solution, but without running the older saws there isn’t.

Stihl has some of the best saws out there but those caps tend to get you every once in awhile

I would suspect the carb diaphragm if it's older than 5 years and everything else is ok.

Definitely not a fan of the Stihl oil and gas caps. Went back to Husqvarna as of today. Here on the East cost of Canada we don’t need the real long chainsaw bars…thankfully….😂

Most people don’t have the nice machinery you have. We used horses to pull are brush in the day and various chores. Just a different horse power. Nice video. Jack will have a nice place to raise his family. Great gift you are leaving your kids!
