I have a Polaris Outlaw 90 with what I think is a bad one-way. When going down hill it will free wheel after a couple seconds. When you hit the throttle the clutch engages but it grabs pretty hard and I'm afraid I'll do damage to the clutch or gears or whatever. You think it's ok to operate like this?

I'm not familiar with the smaller atvs under 300cc. I know Polaris clutches are jerky though.

I don’t see any links on how to remove the one way bearing Do u have a link to that video or can you explain after the 2 clutches are removed what is next

You will need to get down to the wet clutch. So remove the outer clutch cover, primary & secondary clutches, then the inner clutch cover, and the wet clutch is behind that with the one way on it. You’ll have to drain the oil first.

Doesnt the one way bearing add extra support for the centrifugal clutch bell housing? Won't it wear out the inner case bearing s allot quicker. Or the bushing in the cover.

No, actually a lot of riders have had the one way bearing out and running their ATVs for years with no issue.

Just picked up a 2015 mudpro 700 with only 77km. The thing is mint condition but I noticed the rattle in the clutch area too. Are they known to rattle this early? Is it harmful to leave it in if its rattling? It's more of a nuisance sound right now. I just did an oil change so I don't really want to drain the oil again to remove it.

Could’ve happened with the previous owner. If it is the one way rattling it will wear on the wet clutch if left in and could potentially break apart. Have you checked the primary rollers for flat spots?

I just noticed it last night. I haven't had a chance to look into it more. I had siphoned out the old gas and put new stuff in (the atv hasn't been ridden in 4yrs...) I also added some fuel system cleaner. I fired it up and it had a rattle sound that I hadn't noticed before coming from the clutch area. It isn't super loud but louder than my 2015 Alterra 700 was.

@@claytonwalters8802 May just be normal noise. The older clutches are a bit noisier. The Alterras have more sound deadening components on the clutch.

So can the bearing look fine and just be bad? I took mine apart spins fine separate on the wet clutch shaft and inside the cover that comes off where its sits together when i spin it by hand it kind of makes a grinding noise

Yeah, the one I pulled out in this video was just like what you described. It can look fine but sound bad when you turn it by hand.

@@ArcticFrost OK mine sounds fine when the clutch is apart soon as i hold the clutch back together and spin the shaft by hand it does not sound happy

@@Brobro449 Nope, it is a gasket on both sides. Only RTV silicon is on the top end and crankcase halves I believe.

If your one way bearing is going bad you’ll want to replace it or remove it so it doesn’t cause more damage to the engine.

One way bearings could go bad on any machine. I’m not sure you can just take it out like Arctic Cat. It may need replaced if bad.

Grizzly 660. One way bearing went out and I cant get it started cause it just spins the shaft. I think I need a new one

Not positive on the 660 but on Arctic Cats you can run it without the one way. The bearing simply acts as the engine braking.

Dude thank you so much for this video. I was just about to buy $500 in new clutches… going to remove my one way bearing tomorrow and see if that’s what my issue-I’ll report back tomorrow but this definitely sounds like it’s my issue!!

Took my one way bearing off and noise went down a lil but my atv dies when I put it in gear-I think my secondary clutch is shot
