Hi I'm a builder from Russia, Vladivostok. Many thanks to the author for giving the opportunity to look at how buildings are built in America and compare it with how they are built in Russia, it is very interesting. The first thing I want to note is that the construction site and around is very clean, all construction debris is immediately removed, and the second is that all workers are always and everywhere equipped with personal protective equipment.

Safety is the number 1 thing in America. Still not sure if it's because of actual employee safety or because companies don't want to pay out workers comp or settlement claims

@WrongDrn
@WrongDrn 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. I did not know that in America workers use pliers to tie reinforcing bars together. In Russia, a worker uses a special hook with a rotating handle to perform this operation. They need 1.5-3 seconds per connection. A coil of wire is pre-cut with an angle grinder to get short pieces of wire. A hook is cheaper than a pair of pliers and faster than any electric binder. It's amazing that you do not have such thing. If you want a photo, you may use "крюк для вязки арматуры" to make a request :)

Please tell whether there are cases when any employee works without a construction helmet or a signal vest, whether there is any penalty for this or dismissal ? What responsibility does the employer face if the Builder is injured at work ? I'm just wondering how it was possible to convince or teach American workers to follow safety regulations so responsibly. In Russia, some construction sites have problems with this, and some workers do not want to wear personal protective equipment, they say that "the construction helmet prevents them from working, it constantly slides over their eyes." I don't know how to deal with this, maybe American colleagues will advise me something?
@PieterHansma77
@PieterHansma77 4 жыл бұрын
in the netherlands the rules are simple: no helmet, no access to the worksite. When you get caught not wearing it on the site, you will be sent home with a warning. the second time you will be sent home and are not welcome on site again. Regarding the fit of the helmets, the cheap ones indeed slide easily over your eyes, invest in good helmets which have a foam or leather coating on the straps.

The black pipes are drains. Sanitary sewer and probably roof drains. Those pipes are coated inside and out to reduce corrosion. If the concrete cracks and the pipe breaks and leaks, they can be relined with an epoxy impregnated sock to stop the leak or the concrete and rebar can be chiseled away to replace the pipe segment.
