I used maple and curly maple veneer. Took 53 hours to make.
I originally wanted to make the outside curved, like a true ring, but I couldn't make the veneer compliant enough. That's why in a few shots, you can see the exterior is curved.
I'm also not super happy about my staining job. It was my first time using one.
Maybe one day I will make version two, with a more uniform grain and if possible no visible glue seems.

Before you write your comment saying the inscriptions are upside down, go rewatch the freaking films. Or do a simple google image search if you don't have 10 hours to spare. To the rest of you with your kind comments, I can't respond to everyone but THANK YOU. I appreciate it.

I still dont get why people say the writings are upside down, I've seen the films, and even if you don't have the free time to watch them, a simple search here on KZfaq can show you the scene with the ring on it and the engravings on this wonderful lamp are same when Sauron was wearing it and when Frodo was holding it up. Either way, love the design, love the dedication in making it, just love the whole thing.

As I am commenting, this video is already a year old. Yet, I am seeing it for the first time. Looking at the thumbnail it looked as though it might be just a straightforward piece. But, as I watched, I realized you had anything but straightforward in mind. This was such an amazing concept. I was trying to figure out your idea as you went. But that was impossible. You put a lot of careful and meticulous planning into this project. When you turned on the switch and the Elven inscription began glowing nearly identical to the video graphics of the movie, my jaw dropped. I literally said, "WOW! WOW!", as I watched the illumination. I'm completely and utterly blown away by this project. Such an amazing creation, from conception to completion.

Your work is so impressive. One thing I see is machines you made that I wish you could share on how you made them. You’re like that German guy or the Canadian guy but French! Amazing work. Deep respect!

As soon as you covered the elvish with the piece of veneer I knew where this was going. I wish I had one of these in my office. Incredible!
