X-Men definitely deserves another animated series, one that will follow the source material from the beginning. Starting out with the original line-up (with Cyclops leading) and will later be expanded to feature well known characters.

My dream would be an anime style adaptation. What i mean by that is an animated series with hundreds of episodes. That way they could adapt a lot of story lines and give a lot of characters spotlight episodes

@@joshmason1460 i heard they were rebooting the 1995 series'. Regardless, most X-Men animated series have been pretty good. Even X-Men evolution has been getting some love.

I think if the MCU does an X-Men movie series, the first one should be just the original team with Cyclops being one of the main focus.

The issue with the OG team is the real lack of diversity there. The 2nd group has that. Really the key is having Wolverine but don't make the series about him first and foremost. X-men evolution did a great thing to me by making Wolverine and Storm the adults initially in charge of the X-men which showed their leadership and why Scott could be a great leader. It also nixed any Wolverine/Jean romance. At this point we don't need an OG team. It's not like the greatest stories revolved around that team formation. We need a team where everyone is the MVP and not around to fill the roster. If Angel is in the movie then he's in the movie. He's not some random mook or only in the first 5 minutes of the film.

‘Wolverine and the X-Men’ despite making Scott compelling it also disrespected him and Jean for the most part who are meant to be the most important X-Men So this episode that focused on Scott’s origin and the origin of the X-Men was truly amazing until they showed Magneto defeated and Wolverine showed up I wish we had a first class series

SUPER FRAME yeah like it’s understandable that Scott is upset in this series as the two people he loves the most are gone these being the love of his life and his father figure However it’s rather disrespectful how he is treated by other characters on this show and the show itself Ps best version of Sinister voiced perfectly by Clancy Brown

JONOVO 1551 Yeah that is pretty much my major turnoff with Wolverine and the X-Men. Which is a shame as this episode is something I want out of an X-Men series.

@@BigK13372 The Real Shame with Wolverine and the X-Men, Frankly is right there in the name of the series, it's Called "WOLVERINE, And the X-Men", like He's the Only important one, and all the other X-Men Are basically his Sidekicks, And this despite the fact that the List of X-Men that are Weaker than Him is MUCH shorter than the ones that could Curbstomp him. His Level of Self-Control and Leadership leaves a Lot to be desired too, You do NOT Put the Berserker in charge of a team, it's just a BAD Idea(Especially if there's Teens involved)! What makes this such a shame is that the series had a Good production value and Good story Ideas, but they Lessened all of it by Framing it as though Wolverine was the only really important one (and yes I say this Knowing full well that the Central character is actually Jean, but she Acts more like a McGuffin/Tactical Nuke in this so she's not REALLY a central CHARACTER)

@@kgmotte2363 while Wolverine was in the spotlight for many episodes,I think they put the focus on Cyclops in quite a few. He had a character arc,which,if the series continued,could have been even greater(at the end he is seen in the future with Mr Sinister and Apocalypse). And i think Wolverine was the main character mostly because of the movies,in which he was also the protagonist,and it worked great there.

I love the part in this show when Scott is depressed and drinking and Logan is like get off your ass and help so cyclops lazers him into the building across the street and walks out of the apartment

This scene should have been in The Last Stand. It shows Scott at a low point and is done with Logan’s attitude.

Yeah! We know it is not The End of Wolverine and the X-Men series. They should make Season 2 and bring all characters we know and love like Cable, Deadpool, Emma Frost return, the X-Men visiting Russia to meet up Colossus, Magneto and Pietro return, Gambit and Psylocke joined the X-Men(I don't know?) and War of Apocalypse Part 1 to 4 as the final episodes.

I think you absolutely nailed it with how they pushed Cyclops to the side. Even if he wasn't my favorite one of the X-Men growing up, they did an excellent job of making him a leader in the animated series.

Cyclops is the perfect deconstruction of the boy scout arquetype, and one that truly stuck, at least comics wise, having such a great and interesting character being so disrespected in the other forms of media has taken the X-men so many essential dynamics of the property even Wolverine as a character has lost so much because of it, so f... the misrepresentation of the Fox movies and that stupid Looper video.

@@l0sts0ul89 Superman isn't a deconstruction of the boy scout, but rather the representative of the arquetype I love the character precisely for that, If you mean him in Injustice that's a good storyline or concept but it is not the main thing that I associate with the character, he is really human because he chooses to, but he express that through boy scout mentality and that's why he is such a good character, even if he has all the power in the world his hopeful heart drives everyone towards those values not the power he possess, Cyke on the other hand changes those values while maintaining boy scout persona, let's call it the anti boy scout, he drives everyone towards the hope of equality in the world but even if has that mindset, his actions go in the lines of "the means justify the ends" they are quite different. So that's why I think Cyke really is a deconstruction of the boy scout.

@@l0sts0ul89 Nice to see a man of culture haha, but yeah it is very narrow minded to play just the op card, and not really trying to understand the character, both Cyke and Supes suffer this from this misunderstanding, and with Cyke is more that he was the boy scout but a lot of suffering broke him, so then he proceeded to use the same kind of leadership but for "broken things" (So I can understand why the Supes comparison) , actually for a time he was pretty much the modern Magneto.

@12th House Psychic It's quite an old video now, but it's one that had some buzz and was spreading information on Cyclops completely out of context, and pretty much disrespected the storylines the creators made, so like if it wasn't enough with the popular opinion on him from the movies they distorted the information from the comics where he is a well written character.

This was one of my favorite episodes of the show. Cyclops was given a bad rep in mainstream media but this episode showed he was a tortured cool character.

Cyclops is my favorite X-Men of them all and I just feel the movies it’s such a disservice to him in favor of promoting wolverine. It doesn’t even scratch the surface of the burden that he carries with that power or his complex origin in general. Even the reboot movies barely got to the heart of it.

I think it's fair to say that when it comes to X-Men adaptions outside the comics, Cyclops, Storm, and Jean tend to get shafted the most; which is a damn shame because I feel like they're the three most compelling and ripe with such untapped potential. But sadly they get left to the side due to the crime of not being Wolverine.

Scott and Jean I feel have only ever been adapted to their potential in Evolution. That show does an amazing job at portraying their characters and especially their relationship. I think Storm has generally been shafted in most things that aren’t written by Claremont. She’s just so much more interesting under him in comparison to anyone else.

Alas, I never really got into this show. Still, I can look back at "Blind Alley" from X-Men: Evolution to see a great encapsulization of Cyclops. He gets stranded alone in a desert, with neither glasses nor visor...and he doesn't break down. He manages to not only survive, but kick some ass by the end.

I also absolutely love the emphasis that episode (and really the entire series) has on Scott and Jean. After nearly 3 seasons of “will they, won’t they” we finally see them together and it was beautiful. Evolution is really the one show that has ever done both their characters and their relationship the justice it deserves. It’s a large part of why it’s my favorite show and the best X-Men adaptation

@@ChrisLamia Same, friend. I love the show. Since Cyke is my most favourite X-Men, I feel more than contented with the show's adaptation of him. TAS version was good, but I think he was, again, overshadowed there.

@@sigurd-333 Scott’s also my favorite character and Evo is the only time he was ever adapted properly (could say that about a few characters). Hopefully if inspiration is going to be taken from any adaptation when it comes to the MCU they take it from Evo rather than the abomination that was the FoX-Men

I would give up the MCU for this show, Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Spectacular Spider-Man to not only have gotten their planned endings but to have also have a crossover. Imagine these three shows facing off Dr. Doom.

Isaiah Stoy to be fair not many of the great marvel show are talked about like yes Spectacular Spider-Man was amazing but it’s not the only Marvel series honestly the X-Men have best animated series and at least this series is talked about more than X-Men Evolution which is my favourite Marvel animated series

Cyclops always has such a high potential for sorry telling, he is for me top 5 mutants for all the reasons you talked about. He's basically a man but with incredible discipline. You honestly only see that in characters like batman, superman, and not even Cap because he was gifted that way.

I love how Young Scott looks like Cyclops from “X-Men: Evolution”, where I think the character is at his best, and Charles’ brown coat/black turtleneck outfit is right out of that show too

I remember Cyclops being one of the most interesting characters in this show, and pro the most emotional, which makes sense as he’s lost someone dear to him, but I wish he’d get some help!

I loved this show and I loved the nods to more modern comics (at the time) and I think the scene with Scott wearing the bandages was a nod to Astonishing X-Men when Emma Frost was being manipulated by Cassandra Nova through her survivors guilt and she takes Scott into his head, particularly the black bug room and Scott see's himself at what he feels to be his weakest point, where he is all alone, no one is there. I think what this show did well is showcasing that Scott doesn't work well on his own, he needs people because it gives him purpose aswell as comfort, and to me he works better with Emma Frost then he does Jean. Jean and Scott Love each other there's no question, and they do work well, but Scott (especially at the time) needed Emma, in his own words "she gave me everything I needed" but the reason he is always caught up with Jean is because he wants her rather than need her and his relationship is really one of the only places he as a character is selfish and you can't really fault him for that. Personally I prefer him with Emma Frost (as Emma is my favourite X-Men and I really liked them together) but at the same time I understand why he chooses Jean (when he can, obviously he could when she was dead) and Emma can also work well on her own as long as she has allies, even if they aren't working with her.

Oh. Hell. Yes! I didn't appreciate Summers getting pushed to the side, but I did appreciate the role-reversal of Scott and Logan on this cartoon. Now, Cyclops gets to be the moody badass. His episodes ("Sinisterrrr!") were the best on Wolverine and the X-Men. And that was like 10 years ago. Man, we need another animated X-Men show... Great pick, and good job :)

Despite his skills as a fighter/leader and his destructive mutant powers, Scott has been greatly disrespected in media since his portrayal in the 2000 Fox X-Men movies, sidelined and treated like trash on several occasions. We need some respect back on his name! Fortunately, he's starting to shine once again in the comics, but we need an accurate portrayal and a solid character arc on the films.

Great vídeo. While I really enjoyed this episode (until Wolverine shows up) I kind wish it had showed Cyclops acting as the leader of the original X-Men, showcasing how great of leader before the events of the series. Also I found weird that Iceman is one of the original X-Men in this episode flashback but in the present he still a teenager. By logic he should be close to the age of scott

Alexandre Frauches Bobby is 18 in this series so my thoughts were perhaps Iceman got his powers a little early at age 12 (totally possible) and perhaps due to Scott’s injuries he acquired his powers at an older age like 18 so if this show is set 5 years later then the flashback Bobby would be 18 and Cyclops could be 23 which is possible however this would be weird since it mean that the X-Men wouldn’t have been around for very long

When I was eight or nine me and some friends found a book about the X-Men in our school "library" (a couple of shelves in the corner of a classroom). We read it fanatically for the whole day and all fell in love with the artwork and characters, and then when tI was watching TV that night after school the first episode of this show came on. Looking back on it it's pretty mental, I'd never even really heard of the X-Men before, but that was my first proper experience with comic book characters and probably the biggest reason I love comics now. I'm really glad it's getting some praise here :)

0:25 : Oh, well that explains why it was so damned good, and gives us an idea of what to expect when the Mutants (well, not the New ones) finally make their appearance in the MCU ^_^ I'm also one of the ones who hates what was done to Scott in the comics. All in the name of making more money, they brought Jean back from the dead and had her run back to him, leaving his Wife and Child behind (before the 'revelation' that she was a evil clone). Scott was the 'Captain America' of the team, and he would have never done something like that, but that began his slow slide into 'anti-hero' and probably outright villain.

This show was brilliant as a kid and even better as an adult when I rewatched last year. Imo, it’s the best superhero tv show ever. Sadly, it’s only one season long :/

Just watched it a few weeks ago. Totally agree it is brilliant. Not my absolute favorite superhero TV show (Avenger's Earth's Mightiest Heroes has that title) but I absolutely loved watching it.

This series was my childhood I remember as a child buying the full complete series of the local supermarket watching it all and being disappointed that there was no season 2 of what I still believe to be the greatest series based of the X-Men period.

I really enjoy wolverine and the x-men and I like that it's getting x-posure in this video which by the way was perfectly x-ecuted. I love how the film they subtitled 'first class' is so widely considered their best- imagine how arrogantly presumptuous they'd seem if it bombed

Time and again I've seen the review of Scott being the best "X-Man", then the writers have to reduce the overbearing role of Wolverine in order for Scott's leadership qualities to shine through minus the overshadowing Wolverine in "beast mode" as it pertains to character heigharchy and the lineage of Scott's resume. Great Scott

Don’t get me wrong, they totally got Scott wrong in this series minus a few episodes, they switched the dynamic of Wolverine and cyclops, Wolverine being the leader and Scott being the snarky one

@@thesuperframe It’s an interesting take on a depressed and angry Scott over losing the love of his life. I think it’d work if they didn’t just do it to make Wolverine the leader who can do no wrong even though he was a massive hypocrite. He gets on Scott about running off and says if he does it he’ll kick him out and then he literally runs off on his own and does whatever he wants all the fucking time

This was amazing! It's been a while since I saw the series. I think Scott's motivations and journey in the series shows with his connection with Jean. I wish we got to see more but yes it is very character driven. Can't wait to see more from Feige.

Elizar Garrett personally I don’t think enough people talk about Jean’s character mistreatments I honestly feel like X-Men Evolution has had the best interpretation of her character even better than the comics and X-Men Evolution had my favourite version of Cyclops especially, but also Rogue, Mystique and Professor X

@@JOVONO I see what you're saying but I disagree. I don't think evolution was a great series for a xmen adaptation. It of course had more seasons/time to build things. But overall I just felt it was extremely silly and didnt show case the xmen the right way in society. Every was way powered down and they were accepted more to the point of the brotherhood in the same school. Idk. I think wolverine and the xmen did the unexpected while keeping things intact. Jean's presence is huge to the point the show referenced how powerful she was. I think they could've utilized her more but probably would've lost out on the a lot of characters. We dont know what season 2 would've looked like so for a one season show people really overlook how good this show was. Admittedly I did too from the title and bc I grew up with xmen the animated.

I want cyclops to shoot short beams out of his eyes that would be similar to a storm troopers blaster rifle but be super devastating like a grenade. Making his power super dangerous and OP. He can eventually learn how to use a long continuous beam but it should be way to destructive and have him focus more on hand to hand combat and only using his beam as a last resort

i remember cyclops from the 90s X-men cartoon he had a superman physique but Bryan singers x-men set that tone and turning cyclops into a clark kent looking character

1. "Cyclops is secretly awesome" is not much of a secret. Even the crap movie versions had their fanbase. 2. It seems visually that the blindfold scene was your One X-cellent Scene, but you never made that clear. It seems to me that the letterjacket scene fit your narrative's ending better. 3. Keep up the great work! I've watched several of your videos now because of this one, and subscribed.

If Wolverine and the X-Men had two more seasons, the second season would focus on the Apocalypse arc. and the Third Season would focus on the Deadly Genesis Arc where Scott meets his third Brother Gabriel Summers AKA Vulcan who's taken over the Shi'ar Empire. Nolan North would reprise the voice of Cyclops, Matt Lanter can be the voice of Alex Summers AKA Havok and Sam Witwer as Vulcan.

With X-Men finally being brought back into the Disney's-Marvel fold I really hope this is the path any new X-Men franchise goes. Though I feel you probably couldn't put them in the MCU if you did that, rather an Alternate MCU where the X-Men are the primary heroes instead of the Avengers and this nightmare of a future outcome being it's Endgame

If I did I would want to hire a storyboard artist and do it properly, have animations and making 40min+, or alternatively I could make a video on a 6 movie plan for the x-men, the villains, the characters arc etc

The way Wolverine’s always pushed to the forefront and shoved down our throats makes him more annoying than anything. The X-Men are much better off when he isn’t the focus and is a side character instead or simply not even all that involved in mainline X-Men stuff
