It used to be farm land around here now we grow houses in these bedroom communities . A farmer friend on one of the last remaining farms is a busy man with running the farm and a hardware store , greenhouse and other things he has many irons in the fire . One day i was watching him talk on 2 phones and still able to help me i say Art you be a busy man and he say yes and that he will still be working 30 years after he dies .

Hi Wesley. My Gehl 600 14 wheel v rake is getting tired. After watching your videos for awhile I notice your carted rakes do a very good job for you. We dont have many of that style around here so all I can do is watch videos on my phone. Two dealers told me I'd have to slow down in cornstalks. That was an h and s and nh pro cart 14 wheel which I think is a sitrex. I only do about 2000 bales worth of stalks a year and saw in a video you were going to do some next year. Just wanted to know your opinion on it being you guys cover so many acres. Thank you.

wich machines windrow dryed better? just purchased a sitrex 10 wheel.has indivual tension for each wheel like the peckway.
@ih12067 жыл бұрын
That Pequa might be a pretty good machine once you get it dialed in. If I remember correctly, the frame is a lot heavier than the H&S. Both seem like plenty good enough rakes for what we do.
@glenkoopman73477 жыл бұрын
it seems to me that it is leaving quite a bit behind left on the ground I reckon a normal rotary rake would do a much better job, why don't you try one of them? Also would one of these style rakes work on silage like very green heavy stuff?

When you box a piece of tubing with a plate, they call it a torque tube. Makes everything 30% stronger but somewhere something else will deteriorate. I box everything I build with a plate.

Out of curiosity why don't you use the much larger European style 4 rotor rakes like the class liner 3000 is it something to do with not being built heavy enough for the type of grass you do etc. would actually make a good topic for a video
@ndrocks99017 жыл бұрын
Anthony Horton I think he talked about that in an earlier video. Im pretty sure he doesn't use them because their slower and they cost a lot more. They also take more hp than these smaller v rakes. A lot more moving parts to which means more breakdowns/maintenance.
@janvandenbos70857 жыл бұрын

Do you run the rake on high or low speed PTO?
@heyhey19567 жыл бұрын
Wes why don't you get a Krone rotary rake demo from Messisks I don't understand why you don't seem to like rotary rakes? In Europe where they have very heavy hay and silage crops majority of the people are using rotary rakes in preference over wheel rakes!
@heyhey19567 жыл бұрын
OK but why don't the Europeans use them a lot more then because they're no different to American farmers surely they want to save $$$$ as well? I'm an Aussie and we do huge amount of hay and silage on very big acreage just like Americans do and even out here wheel rakes are not that popular, one of the very popular rakes out here is the award winning Berima Rake Range! www.berrimahayrakes.com.au/
@chevyon37s7 жыл бұрын
heyhey1956 Speed is number one, we can run 12mph raking with a wheel/ V-rake if the ground is smooth. Plus a ground driven rake is not only cheaper to buy, but cheaper to run. Also terrain, a rotary rake wouldn't hold up or do a good job on the hills and terraces we have. Our 14 wheel Kuhn does a great job of contouring the terrain.
@f0rumrr7 жыл бұрын
Hes explained why he does not use a rotary rake many times. Too expensive and easy to break, durability is the most important thing to him.
@odluma7 жыл бұрын
you will only break a rotary rake if you hit something just don't hit anything, simple.
@ndrocks99017 жыл бұрын
heyhey1956 rotary rakes = more hp, more fuel, higher maintenance, and overall more expenses!

Phillip Saunders plus there are way too many moving parts on a pto driven rake. The guys that run them seem to trade them off pretty regularly. Those cam followers have to be a huge pain to maintain all the time.

Yea, it would be fun. We've talked about it, the problem is its far too expensive of an effort for something Wes is really not interested in doing. It may not seem like it, but a demo of that machine would cost us several thousand dollars to do.
