What do I do if I hit a forehand already with a raised heel in the loading phase of the stroke, would planting the right foot onto the ground to load be better for me?
@oneminutetennis
@oneminutetennis Жыл бұрын
Definitely. But I think we have some confusion.. I'm the loading phase of the stroke, you sometimes raise the front of your foot. But not the rear of the foot. Do you see what I mean?

@@oneminutetennis I’m not understanding which foot we are discussing. The left or right foot as a righty? Load right foot flat to the ground, during stroke the heel of right foot can come up. The left foot heel can be raised in loading phase of stroke but not the right foot. During the forward swing phase the left foot heel drops causing a flat foot planted to the ground while right foot is allowed to have the heel raised. Is this what you mean?

Doesn’t the “stop” have something to do with the energy transfer throughout the kinetic chain? I mean, with all the unit moving together, “pausing” the torso will transfer the energy to the arm and ultimately to the racquet, right?

Yes, thats very correct, the physics is coefficient of restitution (COR) is a measure of how much energy is conserved during the collision. A perfectly elastic collision would have a COR of 1, meaning no energy is lost during the collision. In tennis, the COR is usually slightly less than 1 due to energy dissipation as heat and sound. A higher COR means more energy is transferred to the ball, resulting in a livelier shot. Great ball strikers always have a COR much closer to 1 than normal players. Does that make sense and thanks for a very informed question

@@oneminutetennis So... in theory (I do not have any idea how to perform this) we would need to slow down the legs, hips, torso, shoulder, elbow and hand on this order to transfer max energy to the racquet?

I think I'll make a video on this subject. But essentially, yes. But this is better. Let your momentum take you to a position where your square to the net. Gently slow down and the momentum of your swing will now speed you up and there you have the rotation, stillness and rotation of the FOREHAND. Does that make sense?
