the spouse question is one that should be addressed before someone goes into the pipeline...it seems harsh but if your spouse isn't prepared to run their world perhaps a person should re-think AFSPECWAR...It's not mean or cruel to have the conversation before any decisions are made...it takes a strong, confident, spouse to decide the military life is a path to walk...This is not ever meant as any kind of slam to any one...Being the spouse that has to run the home life while the other spouse is out is sometimes hard & demanding, requiring sometimes the resilience that seems impossible..

I was born with bilateral clubfoot. Had 3 surgeries as a child to correct my ankles. I can walk and run just fine, was able to play football and baseball throughout high school and baseball in college. All good as far as running and mobility, However, my ankles flexibility is lacking substantially. In regards to swimming and A&S, is it reasonable to think I can make it through with stiff ankles making me not the fastest swimmer. I’ve tried ways to stretch them out but they just done have the range of motion to do so. Thanks for the help and the great videos guys.

Also do y’all have any suggestions for workouts, exercises, equipment I can do to stretch ankles and maybe improve flutter kicks in water. Having fins on helps for sure but when I take them off, the ankles just don’t cooperate. Thanks again
@rexw2203
@rexw2203 2 жыл бұрын
@@morganladner7037 For the pipeline I'd say that if you can still fin-swim without much problem you SHOULD be ok. Be up-front with the recruiter about physical issues at all times. Some issues can be waivered and the only thing I would caution you would be to "make them say no" and even then don't just TAKE that answer. Talk to other contacts about the feasibility of getting a waiver if you REALLY have a fire in the belly for the career field. There's lots of exercises to stretch the ligaments and tendons in the lower leg out there on the internet. Swimming free-style isn't that big an issue once you're done with the PAST. It's almost ALL fin swimming after that.

If you can DO THE JOB and you're not 'suddenly gone' when I turn around to try and find you...I REALY don't care whether or not your male or female (or any of the other differences that people come in). If you're not an "empty uniform" and show up and can DO THE JOB...I really couldn't care less if you're frikkin' BLUE! Honestly, if I could've changed something I'd done when I was in high-school, it would be to have done cross-country and swim team in order to get ready for a career in the military. Looking back, that would be the only things I'd change.

I just want to know, if I enlist with a basic job, can I enter SWOE or possibly cross train into special warfare when I plan on re-enlisting? I’m going to MEPS next week and I didn’t even know that I had to go through SWOE to enlist as special warfare. And I believe the deadline is getting really close. I don’t want to swear in for another job if I don’t have the possibility to enter special warfare later on.

From my understanding I talked to the Squadron Commander of the 306th RQS Reserve PJ Unit and the entire Department of the Air Force Active, Guard, & Reserve are not accepting any Concientious/Religious Exemptions to the Vaccine. They are currently in process of discharging Airmen that refuse. I have also talked to an Army National Guard Special Forces Recruiter who said soldiers refusing the vaccine can currently still enlist, it has not been mandated for the Army Guard side (depends by state) but they are being "red flagged". Which could mean a harder time getting rank, schools, time away, etc. Also! Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Special Warfare units are currently not hiring due to a high influx of Spec-War Airman switching from Active, the Covid-19 pandemic stopping Tryouts, and the Afghanistan situation has also stopped Tryouts.

How do you feel now about your remarks on the vaccine? If you are a data guy then it should be pretty clear to you that it is a real danger to the specific population that comprises your unit. You are accepting a cardiac risk that only increases with each event and which is a complete unknown across career term.

@@OnesReady1. I believe it's Aaron, the one on the right (PJ). 2. Starting around 1:24:30. I agree your personal opinion about personal freedoms and everyone making their own choice. The problem is it's a bit at odds with the following train of thought concerning a person's view on "getting a shot" versus their desire to save people and serve a greater good. That's a bit on the simplistic side considering you are by proxy applying pressure on your peers saying their resolve isn't equal to yours because they are pushing back on a thing that has born out to be most detrimental to your exact population. Great leaders would accept the unknown risk of pushing back collectively as they would know that's the only way to achieve the right of choice for the young men under their command. They will boot out 10-15% of a force if necessary, but they cant afford to lose a sizable portion of an elite force without being unit ineffective, which becomes a strategic problem. If experienced and ranked guys unified and pushed back, like a large group of SEAL's did, they would have to amend their position because they can't afford to lose strategic assets. Maybe you were able to side step the risks with religious exemptions or other means, the point is that a unit centered around adaptive medicine should be the ones tracking risk to the force most, and taking every measure to prevent it.
@OnesReady
@OnesReady Жыл бұрын
1, it was me (Aaron), so I will respond. Bottom line up front, I stand by what I said a year ago, in this context and in its time. We have all learned a lot since then, and you're applying today's context and information to something I said a year ago with the information I had at that time. I also want to make sure you understand- I openly reject what you think my intent was. I said the truth, clearly, at the moment without reservation. Until proven otherwise, you're a person on the internet without the experience necessary to be included in the conversation. E.g., your opinion on what "great leaders would do" (while you have zero experience in the issue until proven otherwise), I never said that anyone's resolve to do the job was in any way related to me; you made that up to support your point. So don't put words in my mouth, and don't inject malice in my intent where it doesn't belong. Unfortunately, the "simplistic" view you mentioned could also be called "just the facts of the matter". Do you want to be a PJ? Do you want to deploy? Go on TDY? Well, even now, a year later, you're not allowed to fully experience that without the shot. I actually do the job and live the life you're telling me about, so I can tell you in real-time- the facts remain. While your overall read of the issue in the here and now isn't far off, I'm going to assume you're a random dude not in AFSPECWAR, who didn't live through this thing the way we did and is now sniping from the sidelines. I am happy to be proven wrong- I am not hard to find, and I am the first person to say when I am wrong. Shoot me a private message, let's talk it out. 2, it starts at 1:01:00, the time stamp you used was a typo, and this episode wasn't 1:24:30 long. For all those that want to play the home game. 3- Since this video, the mandate has been repealed, and you can enter the military without a shot. However, you can't deploy, go TDY, or go to certain schools without it. So, if you want to get in, go through 2 years of training, then get to a team to sit at home station and never deploy? That's your choice. My personal feelings on the dangers of the shot and the moral/ethical/legal concerns surrounding all these things are well known in all my circles. I have been one of the most vocal people against what I feel has been a dark time for all of us actually serving. Thanks for engaging; hopefully, I provided the clarity you were clearly lacking. To close- thank you for allowing me to flesh out my intent and words.
@abefrohammer3105

@@OnesReady you know what Aaron, I read your thorough response and have to say, I'll take the L. The statement, or more accurately sentence, in question had to do with you saying a person's view on the shot must be weighed against their desire to do your job, save lives and put others over yourself (paraphrasing as I'm writing on a phone). I will admit I probably brought a lot of my own bias into that read and I shouldn't ascribe that to your intentions. I'm particular hot about it considering what my wife went through as a nurse, and so many others like her, when the facts were on her side. I have tremendous respect for your community having shared blood, sweat and tears with many. You and your compatriots put out great info that energizes a new group of young people to undertake a tough road that's increasingly harder to motivate people for. I applaud that and thank you for those efforts. Pardon my old saltiness as most pj's I've worked with, and trained, were exceptional, even if over equipped;) It was in bad form to snipe at one statement amidst a sea of great info you guys put extra effort in putting out. I wish you the best and keep fighting the good fight. I'm man enough to admit when I'm like a football bat. Cheers D.O.L.

Do they not recognize the magnitude of the commitment? Had a man-in-the-mirror about really why they want it? With the whole attributes-based consideration in the pipeline, they've already hit themselves in their own throats. SERIOUSLY, IF YOU WANT IN, TAKE THE INITIATIVE, MAKE THE EFFORT, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, COMMIT 110%. Recognize that some of us would kill for the slot you're taking.
