onew crying is not only because of the song but also he just recovered from vocal cord injury wherein he restrain it hard to bleed it. but after the surgery he never talk for quite a while. he also knows that there is no assurance that his voice will be back. God loves him so much because his voice back as if that he didnt injured his vocal box. and also the original singer of the Rainy Blue experience the same vocal injury but sadly his voice never came back to its original timbre... love you my dear logi!!!! you really makes my day brighter even though its gloomy yhere in taipei :-)

Also the person wrote that song and had the same surgery did not get his vocals back. So it was very bittersweet. He sang it not just for him, but for the person who wrote this song who can never sing it. I LOVE ONEW!!!

Onew's voice is such a gift. He is my bias wrecker for a reason. When you said please hug him. I automatically thought of Minho cuz he is always the first to hug the members when they are emotional. Onew is the group leader, so it is very special to see Minho comforting him. I guess that is why I ship Minew (Minho x Onew).

And if you like ballads, then SHINee are real kings of ballads, because the harmony of voices is something magical. ahh.. you just need to look at so many things (Moon river waltz, 1000 years always by your side, The reason, Romantic, Life, If you love her, Color if the season...) maybe not for the video reactions, but just for yourself. ^^ Thanks for the love that you give them, it makes me smile 🖤

This song always gets me. Onew's voice is so incredible, he holds so many raw emotions when he's singing, this man is a blessing. Also I'm always mesmerized by Taemin's piano performance, is there something this kid can't do ? And I see people have already requested Onew "Nessun Dorma" performance so get ready because it's going to snatch your wig !

Jinki is known for his beautiful and very unique voice so I'm not surprised you liked it so much. Even though all of SHINee are amazing singers, I gotta say that Onew is by far my favorite voice in Korean pop. He has such a beautiful gift.

ALSO HERE'S A VERY IMPORTANT FACT !!!! A lot of people believe Onew cried at the end, not only because this song is effing beautiful and emotional, but also because that performance was at Tokyo Dome, and it was SHINee's dream to perform there, but also, and most importantly because of Onew's condition See, back in 2014, Onew had to go under throat surgery.... and he then spent 3 full months recovering, he wasn't even able to talk, can you imagine how he might have feel ? But he worked hard, and his recovery went well. The story isn't over tho... “Rainy Blue” was originally composed by Hideaki Tokunaga, a japanese singer who had a similar surgery, and the first song he sang after his recovery was "Rainy Blue". Now picture this, Onew, after an important surgery, after months without being able to talk, after struggling so much, standing there at Tokyo Dome in front of all those fans, finally able to sing his heart out... Even I am getting teary writing this, I just can't imagine everything he felt during this song.

Ahh I knew this was a good one to recommend.. so glad you felt about it as strongly as I did! Some context just to twist your heart more: this was actually onew’s first solo stage after his vocal cord surgery and he had spent so so long not talking at all and even longer not singing. He spent so long worrying about if his voice would be affected and that’s the reason he got so emotional at the end there.. He chose this song because the original Japanese singer went through the same thing. It was an emotional time both for onew and the fandom.. I remember how much we missed him and longed to hear his voice just once.. There is actually a video with English lyrics so you can definitely check it out! Edit: that was absolutely taemin playing the piano ;)

Yes, I was about to add this comment as well! To add though, the original singer of Rainy Blue did not recover successfully like Onew did and his career ended after vocal damage. I think Onew was feeling emotional during this performance because he was thinking of what could've happened if he ended up like Hideaki Tokunaga.

Wantana T. Oh I didn’t know he didn’t recover.. The singer actually saw this performance and tweeted about how he loved how onew sang his song like this (focusing on the emotions and voice with minimal instruments in the background) and how he wanted to sing it like that once

If you think Onew was amazing in this song. You have to check him out singing "Nessun Dorma." Its a famous song from an Italian Opera. SHINee really are bilingual kings. Onew can even sing in Italian and he sounds like he has been speaking the language his whole life. If you think you have goosebumps now you better prepare yourself for "Nessun Dorma." Onew and Key are stage actors so they have amazing Broadway voices. Really it doesn't matter what language they speak they can pronounce words very crisp and clearly without hardly any accent. It just goes to show you what amazing singers they are because the way they speak makes you think they all must have almost perfect pitch because they can hear every tone and note and inflection and pronounce it perfectly. As you know, all the members are fluent in Japanese and Key is also fluent in English.

My favorite Shinee MV and favorite Shinee live performance is 1000 Years By Your Side. Check out the MCountdown live version! The interweaving of their voices kills me! And then the MV is beautiful and a tearjerker. If you want an Onew vocal treat, definitely check out Onew singing opera! See Onew, Nessun Dorma -Tokyo Dome (he's wearing a white bow tie, from a year ago).

Not sure if you know this yet or not, but this song was so meaningful to Onew because it was his first solo performance since having vocal surgery. He literally spent several weeks where he couldn't speak in order to let his voice heal after surgery. And this was a scary surgery because he wasn't even sure he would ever be able to sing again let alone at the same quality as he did before. Rainy Blue is so meaningful because the original song writer who wrote this song actually had the same surgery as Onew had and he was never able to sing again. The song writer wrote this song after the surgery and it was super emotional because it talks about his feelings after going through such a life altering thing. Thank goodness everything turned out great for Onew and nothing seems to be diminished because of the surgery. I love how Taemin supported his brother by accompanying him on the piano during this song.

@@Lupita311 I'm not sure what you are talking about me editing my comment, but I did not change what I said from my original comment. I don't know why you are so hostile. I am also a Shawol since debut days and i have been following SHINee's career religiously. I have been a Kpop fan since 2006. My comments are based on fact as I Know them and have personally experienced things. Of course my comment would be slightly different from a year ago. Within a year I have gained more information and knowledge and have refined my understanding of the story to make it more clear as to the point I was trying to convey. As I said, I have heard this story from Onew's point of view and that is what I base all my comments on. Just because you were able to bully someone else into deleting their comment because you think your opinion is the only right one, does not mean you will get the same response from me. You are entitled to your opinion and truth, as am I. You're more than welcome to write your own comment and make your opinion known, maybe more people will follow you and listen to you than I, but that is up to them.

There's a heartbreaking story behind Onew's tears, actually. This was his first performance after a throat surgery where it took him over three months (if I remember right) to recover. He couldn't speak, let alone sing, at first. Also the original singer of this song, Hideaki Tokunaga, had the exact same surgery and went through everything Onew did. You should definitely check out Onew's performance of Nessun Dorma at Tokyo Dome (aka. the same concert as Key's Born to Shine) Also, Taemin played the piano, and he looks damn good.

I know it's late to comment this, but as someone who knows Japanese (I'm a Vietnamese but I also learn Japanese), this song's lyrics get me every time, also due to Onew's recovering success this gets more and more emotional whenever I hear it. And I strongly recommend you listen to 1000 years always by your side and Fire, those are the Japanese releases of SHINee I like the most and they are beautiful

Onew cried because this song is so meaningful for him,he just undergone a vocal surgery before he sung this and the original singer of Rainy Blue gone thru the same surgery as Onew but sadly its not as successful as Onew's operation because he cannot sing now or had difficulty singing now...so its full of emotions on Onew's part... ...anyways,thank you for finally reacting on this,we really love it.And please do react on Onew's "NESSUN DORMA" ...i promise you will be amaze on his performance there...thank you soo much...love and support from Shawols ♥♥♥

BTW my dear logi if your gonna watvh SHINEE in JAPANESE MV please do something like make it a little way faster than the original o do some voice change like make it higher or lower. If the japanese Mv is on SM ent channel you can do nothing on lto it but ifvit is under in a japanese label like universal record or sony they will make a hit on your channel or tge worst they can sholut it down. Just a reminder. I dont want that thibgs will happen to your channel....
