Just read on Wiki that the developers: "advertised a competition in which anyone who could complete level 5 of Ooze would be entered into a prize drawing to win $104,000 ($52,000 cash, and a scholarship of the same value). The game was reported to crash on level 2, making this prize impossible to win[6] without the use of an emulator or an in-game exploit, rendering the contest a failure."

just did some reading, turns out (no surprise) that the devs were super shady overall and the history of the company is VERY hidden. one guy tried contacting them and any questions about the history were met with pretty much the same "why do you want to know this" interesting stuff

Fun fact: There is a project on the internet rn that aims to remaster and remake the games from Action 52 to make them more playable and appealing. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any updates recently.

@@Mr_Fancypants Creating a good game takes time, remaking a shitty mini-game doesn't. I'm pretty shit when it comes to programming but I could recreate almost any of these (better) in a day. The problem is most likely that all these games suck ass and the devs got bored and made their own, worthwhile projects.

Fun Fact: Action 52 was inspired by the founder seeing his son try a shitty bootleg NES game from Taiwan and he wanted to do exactly that but make it “legal”.

Fun fact: the game Project X zone 2 has a reference to action 52! The character xiaomu picks up the phone and jokingly says “Hello! Welcome to cheetahburger, home of the action fifty-tuna melt!”

This game is just a series of Zach hypotheticals. "Hey Tomar, what if... what would you do if... you're driving a tank in Iraq and a giant Saddam Hussein ran at you?" "Hey Tomar, what would you do if... you woke up in another dimension as a- as a... giant hand. And there are these whacky creatures running around and when you hit them they go "Time?"... what would you do then?"

When this was released it would have been cheaper to buy a Sega Genesis console with Sonic 1 than to buy Action 52. By quite a lot.

@Guy Dude Sonic 1 was a revolutionary video game that made SEGA and it’s Genesis a success, and spurred them to make many sequels, which were even better than the original game. Action 52 was a compilation of 52 failures, and a good portion of them may not even qualify as video games due to being so glitchy and strange. You would get more bang for your buck from multiple playthroughs of Sonic 1 than trying to play all of Action 52’s games to completion.

Chris could actually be drafted for the US army. If you're a resident in the US, even if you're not a citizen, you are legible. Found that out when I studied in California and got a letter from the army.

I feel like Cheetahmen was meant to be its own stand alone game but somehow failed so hard at marketing itself that it ended up on Action 52. It just looks the most developed to me.

It was supposed to be the main game with mascot characters and featuring enimies from the other games within the game. I recall an excellent youtube documentary on Action 52 that i recommend as itd help put more sense into how this thing came out the way it is. I cant say the same for the madman behind it all though.
