Excellent video it has answered some of the mystery I had as to why they have screen and also cool tip to see if the partial freezing or low freon flowing can be checked by warming the bulb or adjusting the spring pressure to control the superheat.

very good explanation of the theory behind the txv. I am no fan of txv to be honest I run into more head scratchers dealing with txv's than with pistons, mainly run into starving evap coils on 5-6 year old units eventually a txv gets stuck and turns into what I see as a fixed oriphas end up having to charge these systems with subcool making sure I am getting liquid and by superheat, due to faulty txv's surviving poor r22 to 410a change outs 5-6 years ago. Its getting easier for me now to identify that crap out here in the field. Its educational to watch your video and see how a txv is suppose to work, but out in the field I find hardly working txv's allot and they are a headache, client cannot afford major repair etc. I like pistons i wish the manufacturers could make pistons work txv's really bug me when I have starving evap coils with high super heat and good sub cools, especially on heat pumps!!! Thanks for the video sir. Oh and the rookie trying to figure out how to make a hole for the equalizer tube, use your torches.... Your welcome, say a prayer for me out here please..

Ron- thanks for the video. I'm going through them one by one. Questions: Why does the refrigerant not simply flash cool when it exits the metering device? Is it just pressure differentials that move the refrigerant along? Should all older metering devices be retrofitted with TXV's? what's the advantage? (Video) Why not have an heat exchanger between the compressor and the condensor coil? I'm guessing thats what a de-superheater is. Only time I've heard of them is for ground source heat pumps. Why? With the much superior transfer properties of water, and the need for heat, why discard it to air? Put the condensor fan on an temperature differential controller, controlled by a sensor on the exchanger. If the hydronic/gas exchanger takes the heat and transfers it to the Domestic hot water tank, the condenser fan never runs, saving energy, wear, and noise. And gives free hot water, for the price of running a circulator. Seems a basic addition to any southern climate condenser. What am I missing?

I recently was hired as an adjunct Instructor for a local technical college teaching HVAC. Since then I have begun my search for applicable and detailed training aids to help illustrate the details of how the process of heat transfer works. However, other than KZfaq videos like yours, I have not been able to find specifically what I am looking for. That being said I was hoping to find some open source flash animations or power point animations that I could use without license in my class. I do not have the time or resources to be developing or purchase my own at this time. Do you have any suggestions as to where I could find any useful visual aids to help me teach my courses? Thanks.

It should be 14 deg F not 14 psig if temp is what we are after because 91psig-67psig is 24psig thus 91psig is equal to 54deg and 67psig is 40degF. I hope my understanding is right.

In Uk studying RAC certificate level 1.Our wrkshop tutor is quite faster and he's done couple of demos that I ddnt know what was going on and at least why we were doing it.I need to pass my course but I thnk I have limited resources such as xtra help on wrkshop demos plus at least notes prior to demos so u know what u on about etc....So plz The great RON help me with a an ideal plan to pass and fully understand my wrkshop tasks.Currently;we've done two tasks...i.e gauge fitting +system pumping dwn then setting low pressure control. Whereas i fully understood gauge fitting plus pump dwn but Lp switch setting is a bit tricky and dnt understand the whole concept with task questions like how to repair Leaks from Lp controls..jesus! Plz help sir.

Help me please!! lol I condemned a fairly new txv on a call.. Gas A/C 2heat 2cool single compressor with an unloader on a trane system. Installed mid summer last year..Bottom of evap frozen back to compressor, split gas A/C..Thawed system for a day, came back next day, running to specs with a 19 degree delta t.. freezes back up the next day under heavy load. cycling on low pressure, but head pressure rising. Filters clean, fan motor running every time I laid eyes on it.. txv will go in Monday, I hope it works
@jpbogle2
@jpbogle2 10 жыл бұрын
Ive challenged the contactor, thot maybe it might be sticking, cycled and recycled the variable speed fan motor, the drier is clear, no temp drop, and on a gas A/C the only thing left in the way is the txv .. When the system shuts down on low pressure, very little equalization of pressures.. Coil is trapped in the attic, but I get very little migration back to compressor

Sounds like someone didn't pull a proper vacuum and there was a trace amount of moisture that would freeze in the TXV orifice. When the system is shut down the ice melts and the problem goes away but returns after start-up. Solution is to replace the filter/drier and draw a deep vacuum for at least half an hour before recharging.
@jpbogle2
@jpbogle2 10 жыл бұрын
It was a failed TXV.. We replaced it.. pulled it down to 500 microns.. went back with virgin 410.. no issues since then..
