I'd drill holes through the support so the line comes up through then attaches to a hook which can be wound around like a guitar tuning peg.

Micro adjust by turning the screw hooks. Better would be, drill holes in top board and run string through holes with "cork/plug".

The screws hooks at the top wouldn’t change the length of that pendulum, but the screws into the balls would.
