Driving in the rain with fulltime 4wd adds additional safety and security. I have a lexus gx460 and the fulltime 4wd makes me confident driving in all conditions. This is not an awd truck, where it only goes awd when it detects slip like most crossovers. The 4 wheels are all spinning all the time with a center diff.

Listen....if the new tacomas had the power rear window like the tundra, I'd buy this in a heartbeat

I understand that this full-time system is mechanically superior to the Auto-4wd systems the domestics offer. But the domestics offer them on just about every trim. Here in the Snow/Rust belt, conditions can go from deep snow to wet pavement and back in just moments. Running around in (center locked) 4H is just not ideal. I thought it was ridiculous when the 5th gen lost the full-time mode (except for the Limited). Hopefully this Limited availability is a response to the outcry that the feature is severely lacking in the Sequoia (and Tundra). More so, hopefully the feature will trickle down to at least the the TRD-Sport and SR5 trims as well.

Had to circle back and watch this. I typically watch all your videos, but hadn't been considering the Limited until now. Pricing for the Limited versus the Off Road with the Premium package, the Limited is like $500 more and has the auto running boards. I won't be off road much, so it's starting to seem like the much better option for me. Thanks for the content and sorry I didn't watch this sooner!

Kinda makes sense they approach the model lineup like this. I think the current 4R is the same way. I may not agree with it, but kinda see their potential thought process on how the full time system is a potential luxury feature.

Limited looks very nice, as for full time all wheel drive, I'm not a fan of it (personally), I have a 4runner that is AWD and it would have been nice to have that choice between 2WD and 4WD when needed, you take a hit in gas mileage and more maintenance, other than that, I'm very happy with it overall. Hoping a few model trims will be at the auto show near me in January. My brother wants to check them out. He has a Limited 2018. It’s a love / hate relationship. He hates the transmission and the interior materials have just not held up.

I don't mind it, the AWD is a bit different in a Truck Based Vehicle, but one that will be more popular as time goes on, I think it will appeal to more "City" Truck Buyers, than Country Boys like me lol

Is that something that will be possible in this gen and if so would it still come with full-time 4x4? Thanks

Would be nice if Toyota would offer the 3.4-389hp/479lbft , and retain max towing and rear under seat storage. They would have best in class torque hybrid and gas only engine. Also, they should offer 2wd function with 4A transfer case like competitors.

Other than the full time AWD, how is this all that different from just an SR5 premium with leather? I want all the gadgets like heated seats and backup assist etc, but not a huge fan of the chrome. Wonder if I could just get sr5 with the leather seats upgrade.

it kills me that no one offers screens that can swivel slightly towards the driver. If it could even swivel 5 degrees towards me i would love it.

I could be wrong, but I don’t see this limited trim as being a big seller in the Tacoma lineup . I think people that have the money to spend and want luxury, will just opt for a full-size half ton . They have more room and a better ride and just have more luxury. I think the Tacoma is, and always I’ll be the truck for people that want a rugged little truck for light work and mostly play for younger people , or older people that want a more affordable solution to a truck .

So goofy with the double cab and short bed.. I hate it. Also, still seeking clarification on the hybrid powertrain. That battery powered torque can’t be available 100% of the time. So does it kick on automatically when you floor it? Towing up a hill? And if so, how long does it stay on for? 10 mins run time before battery is depleted? Or maybe it get powered by the gasoline and can run as long as needed but then why have it at all because your fuel consumption shits the bed?

How do the various trims match up with interior dimensions? Is the trailhunter and or pro bigger in the interior than the limited or trd off road? Curious how the full time 4wd handles on dry pavement.

The only reason he says he could care less about 4 auto is because you can't get it in any Tundra. By the way the Colorado he was unhappy with is a less expensive option it's a lower trimmed truck. If he looked at GMC Canyon AT4 it's alot different. The new Tacoma interior is shit
