What's your general location? In in Ontario, Canada and have found a few.

I found mine at Steins garden center here in Wisconsin. I was reading that they live under the canopy of other trees in their natural habitat (similar to epiphytic holiday/Christmas/thanksgiving/Easter cactus) …so bright INDIRECT light is probably best. Direct light can burn the leaves. The texture of the leaves IS really stunning which is what drew me to this plant in the first place, but the bright green coloring is just as beautiful and I love how it brightens up my home. I did not know they grow so large, now I’m even more excited. I used Sungro black gold standard potting mix, and I add perlite for extra drainage and I make sure the soil is never sopping wet and the container drains well. I never let it dry completely between waterings. All these comments before I’ve finished watching your video lol. And now I will watch the rest of your video.

I wish you could help me demystify my crocodile ferns. I bought them as one-leaf cuttings with the crown root or whatever that's called, and I've had them for over a year now. They're still just one leaf each! Based on what you said in this video, I'm doing all the right things. I dunno what the heck is wrong with these. Granted, the leaf on each has gotten bigger, but that's it. Wut the heck? LOL

Try to increase light and nutrients. Or maybe any fronds trying to grow out of it died? Do check the roots for pests too

@@onlyplants I did pull them out after a few months of frustration. I changed the media to include coco husks. Out of the three plants, only one grew a baby leaf that took about a month to get from a millimeter to an inch, then died off. Waaah! I tried putting one in direct sunlight and it burned it, the other one in full shade grew bigger but no new growth, and the one (control subject) that I left in the same spot that got bright indirect light, didn't budge. Most recent thing I did was cut off the leaf of the second one to see if it will grow a new frond like the other one did - I had to cut off 80% of the frond because of mechanical damage to the leaf. so far nothing. Nada. I've decided to just let it do what it wants for now. LOL

And do propagate lightly

@@Stoneylfm round brown bumps. On ferns it's sometimes mistaken for spores but it often attaches on the stem. There is also a sticky reside on the leaves if the scale attacks it, it's the dew they secrete, like aphids.

In 60-80% i would say

They are very slow at first… but when they reach a certain size their growth speed is unstoppable

@@onlyplants Okay. I switched it to a more epiphytic mixture. The original that it came with was nearly just pure potting mix which maybe constricted the roots a bit. I also got a bit of sea soil to add in small amounts periodically for instant fertilization.

It's been over a year now and the pictures I took from last february to this february is... Maybe a few mm taller? You can't tell any growth has happened honestly. Not even rhizome spreading.

They love more light than you think. A bit of morning direct if you can give it, otherwise bright indirect. Do fertilize lightly but often. Itll take about 1 year to get to this size 🥰

Nopeee you need to have part of the rhizome/root system. They are quite small

Saw so many here in Thailand where I am visiting now. Unfortunately I killed mine from overwatering… the new ones coming into the market are really hardy, I assume they are coming in from tissue culture.

Several times I’ve had to crack a terra cotta or ceramic pot with a rubber mallet to free the plant. I now have a collection of pots I have glued back together. The cracks make them look ancient, like they’re from an architectural dig site. 🤣 I use them for cover pots now so they don’t have to suffer such indignity again. ❤️😸✌️
