When I get praised, I don't seem to care lol. I said something like, "Ah, enggak. Emangnya kenapa?" Which means: Ah, no, no. Why? Well, it doesn't translate well but.

@kinarast

@@Onomappu iya 😂 tapi biasanya gini kan? "Kamu orang Indonesia kan?" Gak tau sih, bahasa Indonesia banyak dialeknya jadi bisa aja kedengerannya normal Kalo nggak tuh biasanya dipake kayak gini, "Kamu mau ikan nggak?" "Suka sama Pokémon nggak?" "Kalo makan makanan yang penuh sama lemak bikin gendut gak sih?" Tapi, tiap orang tuh beda cara ngomongnya. Di bahasa Indonesia yang gak kaku mah terserah gimana aja cara ngomongnya yang penting gampang dimengerti Google Translate: yes 😂 but usually like this right? "You're Indonesian right?" I don't know, Indonesian has a lot of dialects so it can sound normal If not, it is usually used like this, "Do you want fish?" "Do you like Pokémon?" "Is eating food full of fat makes you fat or not?" However, each person has a different way of speaking. In Indonesian, if it's not in bahasa kaku[0], it's up to you how to say it, the important thing is easy to understand [0] people usually call the right way to write in Indonesian as "bahasa kaku", usually used in formal situations. Kaku=stiff

@@Onomappu addition the previous explanation, what you wrote equals to "you are indonesian, don't you?" which has a small grammar mistake but we would still understand what you're trying to say. The inferred formal form of your sentence is "Kamu (adalah) orang indonesia, tidak?" where "adalah" should be paired with "bukan". So, the correct formal sentence would be "Kamu adalah orang indonesia, bukan?". And the casual form is "Kamu orang indonesia, (bu)kan?" Basically, "bukan" is for negating nouns where "tidak/nga/ga/enggak/nggak" are for negating verbs. For example, "Aku TIDAK SUKA ayam" or "Aku ENGGAK MAKAN di kamar tadi". But you're really kakkoi you know so many languages, I was shocked when I see your Indonesian comment

There are 3 kinds of responses I get whenever I say "you're pretty/good looking" to someone, and it's either; * "no, I don't think so 😅" (the one who rejects what you say or is just shy to admit it) * "you too 😉" (the one who compliments you back) * "yeah, I know right? 💁‍♀️" (the confident ones) And I often get the 3rd response 🤣🤣

My boyfriend always tells me 「今日もきれいだよ」, now I finally know how to respond, thanks! Also, about the sexual harassment: maybe it's now considered as such because Japanese (girls) aren't used to being complimented, instead of the other way around? Plus I don't think it's too strict. The workplace is for work and being valued for your professional output, not for compliments on how you look from people not in your personal circle. It has made me feel very uncomfortable in the past, and I am very happy now to have a Japanese woman as my boss. Finally, thanks for another awesome vid, ひときくんはすごくて、かっこいいですよ!
@xXDESTINYMBXx
@xXDESTINYMBXx 3 жыл бұрын
I think the sexual harassment thing is very situational. If you have a new haircut, I would say it's alright to compliment it. But If you wear sexy clothing then rather not. It probably also depends on how and when you convey the message. Please note that I'm not from Japan so saying きれいい doesn't have the same meaning to me.

Awwww! I could really feel your embarrassment and your friend's embarrassment over the phone when you called him! But I'm glad you have a good friend like that. Complimenting others is really difficult. I think it's not just being able to say it, but also choosing the right compliment for the situation and your relationship with the person. Like you say, if you're close with someone, choosing one of the low-ranking compliments can sound superficial. But if you're not close, then choosing one of the high-ranking compliments can backfire, because it assumes a level of familiarity or attraction that can make the situation uncomfortable...! A few years ago I decided that I wanted to put more positive energy into the world, so I made it a personal goal to compliment other people more. I try to find one good thing to say to someone every day. It was really hard at first! It's embarrassing! But I think with practice you get used to it and it becomes easier. I think the best thing to remember is that the lower ranking compliments aren't necessarily bad. Especially if it's with someone you want to be closer to but you're not close to them yet, and you don't want to scare/embarrass them or give the wrong impression. It's easier to give these "less serious" compliments to practice becoming better at them and become closer to other people without scaring them! At the end of the day, giving a good compliment is a difficult art form, isn't it...

I've read that expressing gratitude or praise can be very rewarding for both parties. Usually, the one giving the compliment assumes that it might come out wrong and will appear disingenuous to the person receiving it, but that is usually never the case, and they are just thankful. I feel like I'm pretty bad at making compliments myself, so this video was a good reminder! Thank you for being so open in your videos, it must be hard to object yourself to a vulnerable situation like this, but it makes for a very heart-felt experience. You seem like a pleasant person to be around!

Wow! You are amazing. And bu the way I commonly compliment other because I think people need to hear a lot more good stuff. I only compliment when I genuinely admire other person or something about them.

You're videos are so great!! I only recently discovered this channel and I love that you add the Japanese and English subtitles. I don't know why, but I can understand your Japanese so good without reading the subtitles! I was searching for such a long time to find good videos that I could use for my listening practice, because i nearly understand nothing when I watch anime and I don't know any sites where I could watch J-Dramas. or something similar. And your videos are informative and really fun to watch too :D Thank you so much and please keep on going

I love you channel so much💞👍 I just started learning Japanese 3 months ago and I still have to read the subtitle to understand but you speak very clearly and it is very easy to understand. Onomappu は私の一番好きなyoutubeチャンネルです!🤩🌟(sorry for grammar mistakes I tried 😅)
