not to mention that first chokepoint was much better because every unit has to go thru for the full circle compared to the second one where some units only go thru a quarter of it

It doesn't help that he has both good and bad advice coming in from chat. No idea who gave him the idea that obelisk/particle cannon/radar were good. The person at the end saying fire and poison are bad is just plain wrong. I haven't played it since the patches and beat it just fine on launch putting teslas, fire, poison and frost at every choke point. You definitely need to spend a lot more on upgrades than he's doing, and split between the tower's affinity and health. On teslas you need some armor too. He also needs to be unlocking towers early on. You don't need a bonus +1 base damage in the early game, you can upgrade your 3 shredders with +1 base damage in a single wave.

@@lllllllllllillllllll I beat it just fine as well but for me Frost Keep is a waste of money, just get poison slow. For me upgrades are exclusively to bring new towers up to speed, and for Universities. For me it makes no sense to upgrade damage outside each tower's affinity, especially health since Shredders are so strong. For same reason I didn't even unlock the upgrade paths for non-affinity damage because I don't want the dead card draw. I think Ryan (or anyone really) can do fine in this game despite completely ignoring what you're saying they _need_ to do. There's more than one winning strat. That being said, those Teslas were pretty bad. And why would he place Mortars on +3 between two paths? That's perfect Shredder territory.

Even a mine dropper on the last few squares could have saved him easily. Those are essentially like mortars, but they hardly ever miss, and if there's no target, they just wait until one comes and sets them off.

Winning with Ballista only and Ballista + 1 tower are actually achievements in the game, they aren't strategies. It is easier to use all (most) towers to win the game, although the game is easy enough to be won with any strat as long as you take advantage of the OP mechanics of the game.

What do lookouts do?

@@LINKedup101 they "target" one enemy at a time, and then everything that hits that target gets the lookouts damage and crit chance added to it. They're brilliant, especially in combination with the upgrade that gives -1 base damage for +level% crit chance. They also synergise really well with universities, since they add their damage to the lookout too, basically letting you double up (and more with crits) on the bonusss from universities Of all the ballista + 1 other type of tower achievements, ballista + lookout is probably the easiest imo.

Tfw I won with Poison sprayer Flame thrower Shredder (These 3 always clustered with the relevant DOT perks. E.g. +50% burn damage and increase burn damage per second to 50/80/etc., Also poison slowing) Radar (mostly HP damage leveling with mild anti-armor buffing) Particle cannon highly upgraded shield damage A maze of slightly upgraded ballistae and encampments near the tower to catch survivors and speedsters Mana banks out the ass

Zombie Oogie lets out like 5 fast little guys when he's at low health. Those shot toward his tower and obliterated it in like a second.

@@MajorasWrath1 Lol. What a response. He's probably racist enough. He's free to be who he wants to be I just can't watch anymore. I prefer to watch people who are more innocuous or I agree with on more things. It's sort of like trying to watch a movie that's too illogical or inconsistent or gets the science wrong too much. It breaks my immersion. I'd say I'm the one that changed probably, not NL. It's just sad because I used to watch all of his Isaac content. The Ricky Gervais comment is probably a perfect example. I'm just trying to watch him play a nice tower defense game and then he drops one of the most NPC, corporate, blue-pilled takes about Ricky Gervais. Basically, "I liked him until he started being too concerned about censorship." Someone like Retromation I find more appealing because he doesn't drop random takes like that. I just check in on NL occasionally now to see if I still feel the same way.
