@@AnthonyHeadway Oompa Loompas aren't real, though. Yes they were played by little people in the original film, but that was more out of necessity than anything because they didn't have the special effects tech that they do now. If anything I'd think it might be kind of insulting for a little person to play an oompah loompa. It's not like they cast Hugh to play a character who is supposed to be a human with dwarfism because that WOULD be messed up. I'm all for appropriate casting but Oompa Loompas not being played by little people seems like such an odd hill to me. They're fictional creatures.

Personally, one tie-in movie/show I would like to see is one that covers what happened in that bridge of time between Slugworth flying off by the end of the prequel and him being Willy’s ally in the original movie, because I am quite confused about that.

As someone who grew up with the dapper and suave, version of Hugh Grant, I never EVER imagined I'd ever see him as an Oompa Loompa. Poorer I would've felt never giving it a chance. And I'm so glad I did because he was fantastic.

Because no one can call it a racist depiction if they’re white, can they? 😎

I just finished watching this movie and OMG. This was indeed one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie was an escape to all and everything that bad and horrible in this world. I was laughing and smiling throughout this film. I fell in love with all of the characters. The word I can describe this movie is MAGICAL. Timothee Chalamet needs to win some type of award for this masterpiece, and the movie itself too. I encourage everyone to see this movie. I hope you enjoy the best time the same that I did. 10/10❤

Hugh Grant's character is called Lofty. Lofty was a character in the British TV sries "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum" who sang in a wonderful tenor voice. Perhaps a tip of the hat to that character? Maybe.🧐

Ikr! It looks very true to Roald Dhal's style and, from what I can see, may very well capture the warm, magical, otherworldly feel of his books! I'm not gonna be like the other idiots online and jump to conclusions about a movie I haven't even seen yet!

I agree...it looks wonderful to me. My mom took me to see the Gene Wilder version when I was a girl (yes I am that old) Bravo to anyone who helped this film to be made!

Yes, you’re right- I admittedly was skeptical about it bc of my love for the original but this isn’t a reboot per se-I’m excited!!!! I used to dream as a kid of being in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! 😊

The director is Paul King. If he is the Paul King who directed the Boosh on telly then he should be ideal for this.

Really 🤔, it's based on the enslavement & exploration of tribes of African PIGMIES as it clearly states in the book as well as how they changed it so the ompa loompa didn't look like the Africans they were. Oh well I guess here's 1 more vote for the Missi state that wants to pass a bill to bring back the what??? Jim crow laws, I wonder who's the target, yet we All have human rights right? Well Some & only some, the same Some who deem this is Acceptable & FUN. Hmm 🤔 what I would return to all ya'll. But you find in fun, well I guess it's only those black folks after all. I guess you really enjoy watching the capturing of unsuspecting PEOPLES. Got your number rated R.
