I can't believe that people think that this song was about her new "image", it is, but her managers had this in their back pocket, just like when she came out, incase something happened. And something did, she created a show that passed on the abuse that Jojo had from dance moms and passed it on to other little girls(probably not on purpose, because that all she has known) to make sure she stayed relevent, but then she(or her producers) made a girl dance, who had scoliosis, risking her chance to walk. But think about it, shes all in the media, and her actions during her dance show are NOT, it's like this was stratigic.

Jojo’s mom told her to just put a sanitary pad over it and continue practicing. She was kicked from the group after her mom spoke up about it

to be fair to some of the initial moms, they thought it was a documentary style show about moms taking their kids to national dance competitions, when they realized how effed up the show was and tried to get out of their multiyear contracts they got threatened with insanely high fines for breaking said contracts. I am much less charitable for the moms who signed on in later seasons.

The reason it is called Dance Moms is because originally it was meant to be a documentary about the lives of Dance Moms at The Abby Lee Studio but after they saw the way that Abby would go off on the kids, Lifetime decided to ditch the documentary idea and instead made it into a proper reality tv show

Is being an 18-20 year old cringefest a crime? No. Is platforming child groomers and predators a crime? Unfortunately not. Is forcing your dance troupe to work under abusive conditions including making a member preform through a medical concern post surgery? Yeah, pretty sure that's gotta break a law or two. She's in that weird stage of legal adulthood, but we all know people that age are still kids to some degree. I wonder who she'll be in 10 years. Worse, better, the same? I feel like the only way she'll be less cringe is if she experiences a major life shift that takes real work to get through. But what do I know? Probably not much.

Personally, I want to create another show like this. It would be called 'Dancing Moms' or something similar to give people an idea that it is like Dance Moms. It would also be advertised as such (a toxic enviornment to get your kids to never trust you again). However, when they would arrive, they would be greeted by a very nice lady that would be nothing but supportive of the children. Then, every time one of the mothers said something rude, the lady's entire demeanor would shift. The instructor would begin to yell and demand that the mom that said something needed to try and do anything close to what the child had just been doing.

Think of all of the artists who have reinvented their images (e.g. Madonna or Elton John), or think of entertainers who went out of their way to pivot from the reputation as a child star (e.g. Miley Cyrus or Drew Barrymore). None of them did it simply by dressing up differently. No, they did it by bringing something to the table, something beyond the image. But she thinks she can just change her look, and it will make her re-famous. It makes sense, too - it's really all she has known in a decade-plus in the public eye.

I had the scariest Russian ballet instructor. She had the tightest grey bun & we were all petrified of her. She was never cruel though, just very strict / stern but if she complimented you, you KNEW you had done something really well. RIP Mrs. Grey

My fav Abby quote is when she calls Cathy "paint by numbers hair". Also, Dance moms was dumb but I grew up in competitive figure skating so I really appreciated the girls' talent. If nothing else, listen to her music choices.

That’s not how it went down or even how it works most of the time in the music industry it’s actually a profession for people to write songs for artists and this song was written for another artist who essentially didn’t want it and never ended up publishing the song or releasing it so got put in a metaphorical vault and she bought it

@hi.genevieve i didn't grow up in a supportive home, and I didnt have any friends growing up, but I have the mentality to know that there are resources for mentally damaged people. It's literally all over media and you're over here trying to convince me that therapy is only a thing that family and friends know?
