@@DylanOB I live in Bulgaria. The local dealer had a few ev corsas in stock. Basically they were sold in like 4 days. Those that came afterwards had a higher price tag because of the increased steel and nickel prices.

There's usually a buffer built in to the battery by the manufacturer. For example although the Corsa-e has a 50kWh battery, it's only 45kWh usable

PS. and move the stick back to B and get some charge back into the battery. Using the A/C takes a lot off the range.

Safe to say I've probably driven more electric cars than the average person, perhaps yourself included. The car wasn't in eco mode and I was using re-gen.

@@NobbyOnCars .You did the review and you chose to show the car in ECO and not mention the 3 modes. Chose not to mention the change in accelerator response or in the steering. You did talk about wheel spin and torque steer. Well there can be plenty of that with 'Traction Control off'. on Sport and using B on B roads and you can get a better range. Pity about the Michelin Primacy tyres fitted. 17" 205's on the Elite Nav and 16" 195's on the SE, that makes a difference to range.

Traction control wasn't off. You'll easily get front wheel spin from time to time in EVs, it's not unique to the Corsa at all. Driving an EV in sport mode kinda defeats the purpose of driving efficiently for me.

I don't like the fact there is a seperate gear for regen, it should always be in maximum regen mode.

@@Ancovg If you were always in high regen then when you were driving down the motorway/A roads regen would be pulling you back and you would lose speed massively whenever you relaxed the throttle. D mode still provides some regen, but allows the car to maintain most of your speed and therefore doesn't need so much input to get back to the speed you were at before slowing. That way it saves electricity. So, rather than gaining through regening you lose less by maintaining momentum.

@@manwithcorsae7738 that could also be beneficial, although other EVs do in fact always regen when letting go, it’s called one pedal driving.

Heavy regen might not always be a good idea on the motorway at 70mph though - sometimes you want less braking when you release the throttle on the motorway IMO, particularly when you don't have automatic cruise control and need to gently regulate your speed relative to the car in front? @@Ancovg

I wanted to demonstrate the difference motorway driving can have on the range. I cover the battery warranty in the video to be fair. It's important to know how much the charging slows down after 80% too. I have a home charger and that last stretch to 100% is very slow - I've an e208 outside on the driveway this week and it is the same. Check out Bjorn Nyland he did a review where he kept charging the car along a 1,000km drive to get it charging below 80% but to keep moving quickly. The 20%-80% from Opel are displayed on screen too so all in all, I think it's balanced. It gets us all chatting though about the car - that's exactly what I want :)

Nobby On Cars I agree it get us talking which is good thing but at the same time there are alot of people who do not know much about electrical cars if you get a chance there is a guy called EVM he does a price comparison on the price of fuel over 100k Miles I understand the price of fuel has now dropped but there is no guarantee it will stay this low if you do 40 mpg =£ 14.517 50 mpg =£11.614 ev real world Range 85% night charging 5% day charging and 10% public charging =£ 2.511 so against 40 mpg car 12 grand saving I have seen bjorn Nyland e-208 videos just hope he would review a Corsa but I think at the end of all this it is down to the driver if you need a car that is non-stop motorway driving electric cars maybe not what you need that for most people commuting back and forth to work going shopping running the kids around towns this car will handle quite well if you buy an electric car and you consider most of your charging will be done on rapid charges then electric cars are not for you as a far more costly way of charging rapid charging is a convenient way of charging when is needed but that would probably be a small amount of time for most of the ev users what we really need is a greater available of 7 kW charges in workplaces in shopping carparks so people can trickle charge their car throughout the today but this is just my personal opinion

It can do 50kW is the point, it was 96% full so no, it wouldn't be charging at that speed. Demonstration purposes more than anything!

@@NobbyOnCars The difference on a PCP per month isn't going to be all that much, especially with dealer incentives, if you match specs. My old Zoe cost me £30 a month more than an equivalent spec Clio, for example. My current Zoe, only £20 a month. Factor in fuel savings and tax exemptions and I'm in profit every month, even on a car that stickers for £30k.

Battery degradation is overblown. There's a Zoe in Estonia (I think) that's done 402336km (it's used as a taxi) and it's still at 95% battery health. Most cars will take years to hit that. Most people will have sold it on long before hitting it. Forget degradation.

Well it is Ireland so it’s probably handy to know the real world.

I have these cars for a week and a charger at home so not as long as an owner but you do get to experience the pros and cons.

Quite a few years since this video was made. Charging at home is vastly cheaper than €1.76 a litre (and rising)…

Yes, colder temp affects range. You could take it easy on the motorway (won't get any re-gen) and you might get 200kms from a full battery.

The problem may be the GOM assumed the car was going to be continued to be driven slowly. So when you drive at 120 it needs to readjust. It will be worse in the winter and in the rain it could be you'd only get 190k on the motorway

@@NobbyOnCars Yes they do because they have done the maths. If you go 100 miles every a charge then 1000 charges is 100,000 miles. Average 12000 miles a year 8 years 96000 miles. You charge your phone every day and in 3.5 years the battery is toast and is the same fundamental tech. They hide it a bit with reserve cells to replace bad ones as the pack wears but they can't beat the laws of physics and chemistry. I know there are million km Teslas .... but they must have a very long wire ....

@@MiniEggs1999 80% after 5 years is nonsense, though - no offence. There are 40kw Zoes that have done 250,000 miles (423000km) that are still on 95% state of charge - and a Zoe doesn't have a liquid-controlled battery management system like the Corsa. EV battery degradation is overblown and over-hyped. Most - and we're talking 90% or so - cars are on the road for a maximum of 12 years. If you got one of these below 85% by that time you'll have been treating it poorly. Battery degradation with LiIon cells is NOT linear. "is the same fundamental tech" - but it isn't. At all. The chemistries are wildly different and most phones have no management systems for their batteries (unless you get a Sony). EVs heat, cool and buffer their batteries to prolong life in a way phone batteries simply don't do. It's an extremely poor comparrison.

Why would you stop every 75 miles? Car can do double that before requiring charging.

@@gn6912 yeh 150miles in milder seasons but in middle of winter it gets less range. My thinking is most people don't drive the full range before rapid charging. From owning an eV for a few years now i tend to look for a rapid charge around the 30% charge mark. So u have back up range incase of a faulty or busy charger. That's why I was referring to traveling around 75 mile mark on the motorway at high speeds before thinking about looking for your next charge. Of course as you mention the average combined range is higher than this but from doing a lot of motorway driving I find that in most cases I start around the 80%, I'm a huge supporter of EV's and the tech but i fear most poeple won't jump on EV's untill u can truly travel around 200 miles at 70mph in winter. Some of us have and do put up with a lot less and some don't do a lot of motorway driving so I can still understand the choices taken on the shared EV platform they used. Not so much a negitive comment just more of an observation. Although saying this I find that I can maximise motorway range by sticking at 60mph, it can be a little frustrating at times but you can back 25percent of your cars capacity. A few years from now when the second hand market starts to populate these cars and similar will be a bargain. At the moment, the people that have the cash to buy new are the folk that help pioneer the tech and move the industry forward.
