I have just changed my wife's 8 year old Corsa for a new Mazda 3. We had the Corsa for the last 7 years and it never let us down. That's what we wanted from a low cost small car. I fitted brake disks before I traded it in and noticed the lack of corrosion was extremely impressive. I think people need to get a grip with their expectations.

> "The glovebox is comically small..." Only on the right-hand-drive models. On the noes with the steering wheel on the right side (pun intended), you have a rather humongous glovebox! You could even fit submachineguns in there... LOL P.S.: I have one of these Corsa-e`s for the good half of a year and have driven it for almost 5,000 miles now. It wasn't my first choice, to be honest. But since I (unintentionally) wrecked my 13-year-old petrol-car last year I had to get what was available. But meanwhile (aside from some minor quirks) I really love this car to bits!

I've had my Corsa-e since november, and love it. You're spot on with range, I can't do a 260km round trip with out a 10kwh top-up. What you didn't mention is the matrix auto high beam lights (excellent), the adaptive cruise control and lane assist (especially on dual carrageways, and in traffic ) is pretty good. I'm in France, I got it for quite a lot less than the e208, with more options. Thanks for the review, through I had asked you to do one before I bought it 😉

We've had this car around a year now and put just over 6000 miles on it. We bought it because it seemed to satisfy the majority of our criteria for an electric car without being too expensive. I had my eye on an ID.3 for the longest time, but had an unspeakably poor experience with VW, with problems at every hurdle. Contrast that to the Corsa-e buying experience where we were kept updated at every step of the way, and availability between ordering and delivery was 2 weeks, not >1 year like many other vehicles at the time (we had a pre-order on a Kona for a year too before cancelling). You're bang on with the real world range. We get 150 miles at motorway speeds. The biggest issue I have with the vehicle, and I'm sure other owners have too, is that the GoM is borderline broken. It updates too slowly. It would be better to see a battery percent instead. The app provides this figure and you can infer it from counting the bars, but why not just give a percentage? Come on Vauxhall, get it done!

I might be remembering this incrorrectly regarding the styling, but I seem to recall, on another such car review video, the presenter explaining that Vauxhall had actually penned an entirely different-looking design for the new Corsa... but then got sold to the PSA Group, who basically gave the design team the following brief... "Hey guys... now you're part of PSA Group, we REALLY need you to use our Group platform... so, we're giving you about 18 months to totally redesign & re-engineer the Corsa..." A task that ordinarily happens over multiple YEARS, not months...!! :-0

I may be in the minority but I prefer the Corsa over the 208. The deal breaker on the 208 is the horrible steering wheel and its ergonomics, black head lining, heater controls in the infotainment screen. The Corsa beats it hands down for that. Looks wise the Corsa is boring compared to the 208 but overall, if I had to choose I'd take the Corsa.

The e208 looks fantastic in all black, though. That's inside and out. The GT Premium was my weapon of choice. All the extras. Pan Roof and heated seats. 3 tone charcoal leather seats with neon stitching. There's a reason the Peugeot won design awards! I test drove the top spec Corsa-e too. Thought its body style and interior were bland. It was just lacking. It put me to sleep. Underneath, they are exactly the same Stellantis platform car, but Peugeot built the prettier car on top with way more little touches that just set the two cars apart. Examples are the touch sensitive interior lights, the adjustable mood lighting, and the 3D display. The whole interior reaches out and hugs you. Makes you feel special. Outside, the full LED lion claws make the vehicle look positively evill. All the bumps are in the right places. The Corsa is just too safe looking and set in a past era. Made for those that are slow to adopt change. The e208 got my purchase. 2½ years later and still love it. EV man is correct. When you are following a Corsa you don't notice it all. It has no character or individuality at all.

I had a Corsa-e test drive for a week. I was really impressed with it. Compared with my 40kWh LEAF all I really missed was a heated steering wheel and heated seats (might have just been the trim level). What seemed crazy is that you can start a charge at a set time but you can't stop it after a certain time, or % of battery state. So not so good if you are trying to make the most of a tariff such as Octopos GO.
@MrAdopado
@MrAdopado 3 жыл бұрын
So does it just continue charging up to 100%? That would be very odd since it is not advisable to do that on a routine basis. (Curiously the Tesla Model 3 doesn't have a charge stop time either but you can set the max percentage so it's actually quite easy to take advantage of Octopus Go.)

I own one of these, not the electric one though, and I would pick this over the Peugeot 208 any day, not because I’m a Vauxhall enthusiast but because I feel it has a lot of personality and style that the old corsas did not have. The interior, basic, however still much nicer than the extremely busy Peugeot interior. Dashboard is much nicer in the petrol/diesel than the electric I must say. Not saying the Peugeot 208 isn’t a beautiful car, they are essentially the exact same thing.. but I fall in love with this corsa every time I see one which I do not the 208 sadly :)

Two tone cars became popular in Sydney Australia in the early 70s due to a massive Hailstone storm that wreaked most of the car roofs and so they covered them with vinyl to cover the dents, too expensive to repair. I tried the Corsa banged my head getting in and I'm only 5’10” that killed it for me.

I have just ordered one of these based partially on this review. Styling wise I prefer the Peugeot for sure - but the dealer I ordered from sold the new updated 2022 Elite premium Nav version, ordered from the factory, for the equivalent of £25,777 with various discounts and deposit contributions and things. The EV Elite Premium is closer in spec to the petrol ultimate than the elite - and the only ultimates on autotrader are on sale for £26,990. Same dealer is selling the SE Premium for £22k or so. I traded in from a mid spec C3 automatic and worked out that even with slightly higher finance cost I’m saving £500-£1000 a year in running cost for a much nicer car. Long journeys, which I do every now and then, will be interesting as I understand charging can be a challenge - but I live in South east so benefit from the relative abundance down here. Very much looking forward. Hoping it’s a good day to day companion!

@Bolt electric⚡️ I have some experience as my folks have a Mokka and previously had a Corsa-e (I know, madness to change so soon but there you are!). The infotainment system's energy readout is pretty simplistic. Mostly a graph that I don't fully understand yet. There is an energy display in the driver's dashboard showing what energy is going where but its not sophisticated enough to give you individual kw readouts etc. I knew that - really doesn't bother me truth be told. The app is a bit patchy but generally restarting it works alright. It's significantly better on iOS it seems compared to android... Gotta remember the Leaf is an amazing car but also old - with a smaller battery, lower nominal efficiency (according to EVDB) and cost more. Round here the only Leaf's that are near on price are the basic Acentas with 40kw batteries. You have to ad nearly £3k to get an N-Connecta. Similarly the Leaf doesn't have any active thermal management of its battery - no water cooling to help manage the battery pack's longevity. Finally it doesn't have a heat pump on the 40kw which is a real shame. Ultimately it's a pays your money takes your choice. Outside of maybe the new 500 the Corsa-e is the cheapest normal size EV you can get - with almost all the luxuries in it and all the thermal management and heating kit other brands treat as luxuries if they are offered at all. I think its worth some slightly weaker regen and app infidelity haha!

Mine is hot red with a black roof which is much better than that orange. The dealer gave me a good deal and delivery was due in late March last year, then there was Covid-19. This time before driving an e-Corsa did you bother to check and set the tyre pressures or did you leave the terrible Michelin Primacy 4 205/45r 17's at the pressure set when the car was handed to you? Then same as last time you tested one, the glove compartment is quite deep if you put the manuals in the space nearer the passenger door.
@ElectricVehicleMan
@ElectricVehicleMan 3 жыл бұрын
No, the glove box isn’t deep just by removing things from it. It’s less than half the size of LHD. Other marques don’t have that issue. That’s like saying a bedroom is way bigger if you remove the bed.

@@ElectricVehicleMan deep enough on my e-Corsa for what I have in it which is quite a lot. Extra Smart phone, torch. Pens, paper, sat nav, sweets etc. That weighs enough as it is.

@@ElectricVehicleMan Can i ask how tall you are? It is just that when you put the drivers seat back where a 6 foot driver might have it, you could not have had the seat lowered where a 6 foot tall driver might. There is no room behind me for adult feet maybe more than size 5 and someone with legs. Maybe go stick your hand in the glove box and see how deep it actually is, i assume you have pretty normal sized hands.

Funny you prefer the 208, it was your review that tipped me against it. The massive grille, black wheel arches and cluttered interior with the screen bolted on as an afterthought. Although on paper the Corsa is smaller than the Zoe, I thought was bigger inside. 208 is a smaller car and felt cramped in comparison.

As of today 7/3/21 there are new models advertised on auto trader: Corsa E £21,444 and E208. £23,860. Prereg a bit cheaper again. The prices are starting to get there. Not list, but reality. But I'd be more inclined to take a new Zoe for £21,473!

I would go for the Corsa over the 208 in terms of looks... Purely because I don't think Peugeot's new grill works well on the smaller cars.

You have to be of a certain age to be a Ford or Vauxhall person 😅. I grew up in a Vauxhall household, but having owned both Vauxhall’s and Ford’s I moved away from both brands. I think I’d consider a Corsa e or e208 as a daily driver though. PSA have been good for Vauxhall-Opel, GM didn’t have a clue. Look what they did to SAAB 🙄 Another useful video by the way 👍🏾

I like the look of the car and the fact that it's very basic inside, not too much technology, but price and lack of range is a bit of an off-putting option. I prefer the look of the Vauxhall over the Peugeot. It's probably one of the best looking vehicles on the road

nice bland jelly mould motor, with the range being well under 200 miles I would expect to pay about £200.00pm on a 2 year lease, any more and it wouldn't be a goer for me, the Renault Zoe ZE50 is returning well over 200 miles in our winter runs, I believe that range is the sweet spot for a short range small commuter car.

Localy there is one of these in a mustard yellow and it looks so much better than in other colours. My son had an older Corse and I hated it. It replaced a Grande Punto and the build was very poor in comparison to the Fiat, who'd have thought it. I do like the interior on the Corsa, and the buttons, some good deals too. Turns out the car locally is the Peugeot 208, that's why it looks better.

Personally I prefer the look of the Corsa on the inside, and outside the Pug front maybe better but overall I still prefer the Corsa. I find the idea that Pug have improved Vauxhall build quality rather bizarre, I have generally found Vauxhall fit and finish to be reasonably good, as for Pug the only car I have had this century where the paint was starting to peel at 2 years old was a Pug. Anyway despite it being based on a Pug I am liking the new Corsa electric am considering buying one.

I had a Mokka as a rental. It was so unresponsive driving off at junctions that it was positively dangerous. I have great memories of my 2litre GTE many years ago and do not readily join the current fashion for knocking the brand but the Mokka was dreadful ... and the Corsa E looks better than the Peugeot in my view.

When the e-Corsa was first shown by Vauxhall the boss of Vauxhall said that Vauxhall had determined that people didn't want an electric car that was dramatically different to a standard traditional car design. As a result they have done an electric car with a basic upgrade of the Corsa - same buttons, same switches. I have drive Vauxhalls for over 20 years and would notice very little difference inside. A bit of a disappointment, I want something different.
