@@tamarans.ns.ii.4968yeah it’s because ai can only use 2D reference and not 3D. So they can’t see the hand in every direction and use “flat” images to recreate the prompt. I don’t really see it improving in the next few years tho😅

The thing that scares me about ai is the idea of where is the line. When does it become so human that it’s no longer ai? When it starts having feelings, believing it deserves rights, starts feeling scared, confused, love, anger, sadness, when it becomes aware. When it becomes like that, what will be the differences between human and ai? I guess that we’re alive? But what if it believes it’s alive? The thought of that scares the shit out of me.

You believe you're alive. What if the AI disagrees? Define "life." If we get to a point where the only thing separating us from AI is the belief that one is alive, could they not simply say we're the machines because it's just an argument of semantics at that point? Both sides feel emotion, have desires, defend their loved ones and fight to survive, one side has DNA the other side has computer code. The AI might argue that who are whe to arbitrarily dictate that DNA and cells are the indicators of "life." Those are just modular components that when put together make up an animal or plant. Computer code and industrial hardware are the modular components that give them "life." So why do we get to define life once they become as smart or smarter than us? Because we were here first? Do you always agree with your parents' definitions of life's philosophies because they existed before you?

I know so many people even if they had basically all the components of a human, they would see them as robots or ai, and use and abuse them. You’re comment is super interesting and perplexing! It’s just a scary concept, because some humans are already such horrible creatures. I totally agree with your point though, I never said they didn’t deserve those things, it’s just to me a scary and confusing concept. I guess I find it scary cause it confuses me and I have a hard time figuring out how I feel about it. Sorry if this comment comes across as rude at all! That’s not my intentions :)

The perception we could with our current technology is a false one, with clear ideological roots: we equate consciousness with computation, since our main metaphor to understand the mind is the computer. The mind is not a computer. There is no way to explain consciousness within our current paradigm, and there is no way to create it. The hard problem will remain unsolved until a complete paradigm shift, and after the shift the problem will simply dissolve. Consciousness needs an organism, we can't make organisms yet, only machines.

@@Turtle-ww7hb The input might still be language based, but in terms of output, generative AI has been booming for the past few years. I mean, stuff like text to image and text to video existed since 2010s but it never really became as realistic until like 2018-19, with the success of ChatGPT steamrolling everyone to boost their research and development. I mean, I myself build many AI models for various media (generally with python notebooks and modules) and in my opinion, I agree that we'll not reach the singularity point anytime soon since we don't have the complete understanding of the concepts of mind, subconscious and anything soul related. But in terms of logical thinking, we are getting quite good at making smarter algorithms. There is nothing to be worried about that much though, as long as we use AI to assist us in work rather than outright replace, because humans are necessary to confirm the legitimacy of the outputs of these algorithms.

@@invisibl3.no it does not. if you tell an ai, “make whatever art you want 😊” it’ll draw what it observes others draw when they’re asked to do whatever they want. it’s impossible for it to make art based on its own experiences because it doesn’t have its own experiences

What’s funny with the hands is, my dad creates AI art with his servers that he has at the database (a place where he stores computer servers) and he can create AI imagery with them. Because he has little time, he makes AI art for a book he’s writing, and has lost touch with the artists making the previous art. He wanted an imagery with two elves, but because of the canvas size, it gave him three. He was struggling with the hands, and when he put “dainty hands” in front of all the other stuff for the art, the ai art looked at him, and made the hands worse. When he removed it, they looked away. And made the hands progressively worse.
