Inspired in part by the open source movement, public spaces are emerging where people congregate to share ideas, make cool projects, teach, and brainstorm with collaborators on everything from coding to cooking. With no leaders, they have one rule: "Be excellent to each other." Take a tour of the hackerspace Noisebridge, located in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District, with co-founder Mitch Altman.

find something, anything. take it apart. look inside. now figure out how it works. look everything up. start getting ideas. take other stuff apart. now you're beyond getting started, you will go from no ideas, to having too many ideas, and trying to decide which to do first. Keep in mind, almost all information that exists, is on the internet. Just start looking, and you will learn as you go! I think that's what most people do, who end up hacking things apart and whatnot. learn every day.

i don't know anything about hacking. Except for some simple java programming and html But i want to learn. Is this a good place for people to learn. Or is this only for those who are experienced? Thanks

@busybuzzbuzz Well, that's sort of the idea here. We're learning and building our own things so that we control the technology, and the knowledge. We make it open (and as financially free as possible) to others, anyone can come and learn at places like this. While noisebridge as an org isn't about direct political action, there are all types of political views voiced there everyday, and many interesting projects are birthed through interactions there.

Not ONE founder, co- founder or President was available, and it was our only outlet. Outdoor. Yeah, we know.
