Great to see you picked this up Rough as I reckon you'll love it (I recommended it to you in one of your other videos!). If you enjoy it make sure you pick up volume 2 as it turns a great game into an absolute classic with the RPG and campaign elements.

I think you are going to enjoy this game. I had a blast playing it. I especially like not knowing who or where the enemies are for sure.

Second thoughts: miniature games are fun because of the miniatures and simpler rules. This seems like Rangers of Shadowdeep ww2 with more complex rules. Maybe not the best alternative to mini gameplay. Still looks great.

I don’t play any/many solo games on VASSAL but this game is actually better on VASSAL than on the table. The sheer number of counters and the way the VASSAL module has been written makes the most of VASSAL and, most importantly, the game. I really enjoy this game and is one of my most played solo games.

I've found Compass always has high quality components. A mounted map would have been nice, but hey - price.

The game looks interesting, but at £139 a pop (and another £139 for the 'add-on' module) here in the UK it's way out of my price range. For that price I'd expect mounted maps at the very least.

This is very tempting. Nice unboxing, thanks for sharing. Have you got a handle on replayability yet? At the price I'd want to be able to play scenarios more than once.

Hi Chris, from what I understand this has high replayability due to the randomness of the cards (unlike 'Ambush').

Not really. Whereas Ambush had programmed outcomes and as such replayability was limited, this game uses the randomness of card draw and unit placement to make each playthrough different. (Albeit you use the same map and I believe, the same hex spaces for the units.)

@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Oh ok thank you for the response. I remember playing a lot of Ambush! years ago, but my foggy brain forgot the details. I wish I had kept my game box, I have no clue where it went. I was looking at buying an old Ambush! on ebay, but I'll instead take a look at buying Combat! retail.
