A job for an estate agent saw me come across a Chubb lock, thankfully I have the tool to open these troublesome locks non-destructively

Enjoy your videos. Makes me want to be a locksmith but in Ireland nobody wants to hire you easily. My only choice is to move to the states or the UK if I wanted that career. Pain in the arse.

Any 3g is a great victory, a lock in use, under pressure, brilliant💪💪💪🤣❤️If it was me, I would have confirmed the heights and cut a set of new keys, with one or two levers switched round, originality is a tough mistress, hate changing things🤣🤣🤣❤️

Dyfrig james you definitely need one of these, especially if you aren’t fully proficient at picking mortice locks cause like I said in the video the 3G114s are very difficult for beginners

Really a safe Door
@MaxAmmoNeeded
@MaxAmmoNeeded 3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, use a plug spinner on the first door so it doesn’t lock when you turn it to the 6 o’clock position, on the mortice if you’re on the inside just use an angle grinder to cut the bolt in half. The lock is useless if there is no key. It’s quicker so you can get to the next job. The gap between the door and the frame was massive so 10 inch angle grinder blade would open it in 30 seconds. Hope that helps.

Too much can go wrong getting an angle grinder on it 😳 once I knew it was a Chubb, if you can pick it why not pick it like a boss 😉😎

Enjoyed your video! very nice...just a couple of questions...why didnt you replace the 3g114 with like for like, or 3g114E..I am assuming to keep the cost down...second question, why not use the Assec or Legge value 5 lever lock instead of the Era fortress as body wise, they are the same physical size as the 3g114, its just the keyhole that is further back, like the Era. its saves cutting out more wood for the lock case and the bolt of the ASSEC fits in the chubb staple..just a thought...

Like you said , job for an estate agent so the costs always have to be kept down if possible, I stock Fortress and Strongbolt so always go with what Is easiest to be honest there wasn’t that much that needed taking out , but good question 👍🏻🔑

Don't Chubb have different back sets to era and union , Yale etc can't you use measure it? To get a better idea?
@FortressLocksmiths
@FortressLocksmiths 2 жыл бұрын
They do indeed pal, in this instance I didn’t need to as I could see down the side and make out the Chubb markings. But if you’re on the outside it’s hard to make out the different backsets as it’s only 4mm different

The 114 is a 5 lever lock not 7, also, why did you relock the cylinder on the first door if you needed to change the cylinder? now you have to pick it again to remove it.

GxAxV that’s brilliant pal, I think I’ve seen another video somewhere where a locksmith had one made with a 3D printer and it really is needed to be honest , I really do love this tool but that is the one downside (and could do with the plastercine being a different colour than white!) I’m on my way to work now mate, but I’ll look you up when I get back, cheers 👍🏻🔑
