Glad they mentioned Westworld and Daredevil. The best opening credits can be watched and appreciated at the beginning of every episode without getting boring. Netflix always gives the option to skip the opening credits, and I'm all like "WHAT? NO!"

An observation: James Bond title sequences have always been pretty innovative for their respective eras, while Star Wars has chosen to retain its basic "original format". Definitely a strategic choice, as the Star Wars movies seeks to convey a unified & continuous story-universe; while the Bond films often re-set their story anytime a new Bond actor takes the Mantle (I.e. look no further than re-starting the Spectre organization under Daniel Craig's Bond.)
@PictureProductStudio

James Bond title sequences are always something interesting, but as much as I appreciate them, inspiration behind them was probably Hitchcock's movies. An ex-title designer himself Hitchcock had some of the greatest and symbolical titles and jump-started some of the most prominent careers in the industry...

A show title that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned was Dexter. That show opening was... amazing. It found a way of making the most mundane activities of a morning routine look like the acts of a serial killer and just plain made you feel uncomfortable watching it. I am glad to see Carnivale andTrue Blood used in this as examples though.

great video. I'd just like to mention one show that has really interesting approach to title sequences - BBC and Netflix's Peaky Blinders. Wish I could agree with you. I love anime openings but they're often way too blunt about who the characters are and what the main conflicts are that it pretty much turns into a minute and twenty seconds worth of spoilers. And that's not to mention Shonen anime's obsession with revealing battles and transformations in openings.

Nice video on a subject I'm always interested in (I love to sit through main titles and end credits of any kind and I appreciate the design). Still, some of the most creative and iconic titles sequences were made in 80's and 90's. Highly recommend website "Art of the Title" on the subject, BTW, a great website. There are many great title sequences, but in my opinion DareDevil is the best. I say that due to the immediate tone setting for the series. My favorite title sequence is Fringe. The Sci-Fi show told stories that span across multiple parallel universes and timelines, and each got its own style or color scheme for the title sequence. So each episode, as the sequence rolled, you immediately knew which universe or timeline would be the focus of that episode.
