Today is day one of chopping hay! We start off with a very manageable amount due to the rain in the forecast. So it was great to test out everything with a soft start. The 7810 John Deere was hard at work pulling the chopper. While the 7405 was pulling loads and the 1066 was packing pile. Thank you all for watching!

Your videos are so nice hooking your trailers up and uncoupling them is so labour intensive. UK the UK with have hydraulic hitch on the back or run alongside with a tractor & trailer. Which you could do because you have anoth tractors. Looks lovely crop nice & dry .

New to the channel and new to watching chopping hay. I used to use a sickle mower 40 years ago when I was 13 and on my grandparents farm in SE Kansas to knock down hay and then bring a rake in to rake it up where my uncle, dad or grandpa would bale it into either 80lb square bales or large round bales. This is a totally different and fascinating experience and I look forward to following along and learning. I am glad you were in my YT home page suggestions. Great video quality and overall content!!

Great video! Love the drone footage and music. I have 1 question: why don't you just pack against the already fermented silage, and feed from the other end while the new crop ferments? Anytime you allow oxygen into the silage, especially already fermented stuff, seems to cause spoilage faster. JW, I'm sure you have a reason.👍👍

Inoculants are desirable strains of bacteria that ensure better fermentation of the silage. It minimizes storage loss and better retains nutrients nutrients.
