People have rose-tinted memories of T3. It was - and still is - the weakest of the franchise. Unlike Salvation, it tries nothing new. The action sequences in both Genysis and Dark Fate are both surely better than in ROTM? All the sequels made plot mistakes but to say that ANYTHING makes T3 look like a masterpiece is going a bit far!

@CarthFan2005 I think that the upcoming terminator game should let us play on both sides of the war . There should be two campaigns , one for the resistance and one for skynet , terminator resistance was awesome and probably the best terminator game so far , I would like for the next game , we play as Kyle or John ,for the human campaign . For the skynet campaign , we’ve already played as the T800 , so the next step would be to let us play as the T1000 , just my opinion , let me know your thoughts .

It's not the same thing. They could have done more to hicks and newt, so to kill them off, and so unceremoniously, is understandable why James and many others were upset. Killing John,however, wasn't a bad idea though. First, it's not like this is the first time it happened. John died in the films before. In 3 and Genisys. Secondly, there was nothing else that could be done with John's character. We saw him accept his destiny (3), meet and save his father(salvation), and become the villain(Genisys). What else could they do with his character? This was a bold choice and made this a much fresher entry as a result.

True....I always thought Cameron missed an opportunity in T1 in a similar manner. When the Terminator unloads his gun into Sarah's roommate and the first Sarah Connor, his eyes close when he fires the gun. That's a human neurological response to the loud noise. It would have been cool, and created a feeling with the audience that "something is odd, here" if he fired without blinking. At the time of those two shootings, the audience still didn't know for sure he was a robot.

Clark Kent tech will get do much better and very soon I think. Eventually we may get to legit see films made using completely digital faces/likenesses in order to revisit old franchises and create another story set in a certain time. So a sequel to T2 with all that cast likenesses and perhaps a bit older but still recognisable to that film. There will still be need to cast new actors to be the body doubles in production so still plenty of work.

After blowing up Cyberdyne and Skynet, I think the idea of John Connor no longer being the human resistance leader logically makes sense, but everything they went through in the first two movies went completely out of the window when they killed him off in the opening scene. This movie could have worked. Maybe if John encountered the REV-9 but they didn't kill him, he and Sarah figure out that because they stopped Skynet, a new AI would be after a new resistance leader in it's place, so they hunt the REV-9 down and try to figure out who the target is and who the future resistance leader is. And if John ends up dying, it would be in protecting the terminators target like Kyle Reese did, so his death wouldn't feel as much of a kick in the teeth as the one we got. Now THAT would be a more original idea than what Dark Fate effectively is, a Terminator rip-off with Arnie and Linda in it.
@DeltaKnight
@DeltaKnight 9 ай бұрын
I said on another T:DF video of this scene once how at the very least, I genuinely feel that Sarah and John's roles in the movie should have been reversed. My idea basically went: -Sarah dies protecting John. COMPLETELY makes sense and in character. Throw in that Sarah, ironically if not albeit years too late to make a difference, is killed by an Arnold Terminator. -They could have taken a playbook page from T3. In the years since witnessing Sarah's death while protecting him, John has since become a drifter, constantly traveling and never staying in any one place for long (wrongly after a point) believing Skynet and the Terminator were still after him. All the while he's living maybe a form of PTSD from what happened to Sarah and living in a world he has no real place in and that currently has no need for him in a present where Judgment Day should have happened years ago, but hasn't. -Maybe John could have ended up working in the factory with Danni when the Rev-9 attacks where, much to his shock, the Rev-9 completely ignores him in favor of Danni. After helping out in the ensuing battle, there he finds out the (new) reality--he REALLY has no place in the world as "his" war against the Machines has been won--Skynet never exists, but a similar struggle still happens only this time the future has absolutely no idea who he is. He's officially no longer the one set to lead humanity against the Machines. His whole life has been prepped for something that (for him) no longer happens. He's an anchorless ship. -However, he then finds a new place: not only protecting Danni, but helping her learn and adjust to the role he once "had". His new place could have been not only helping to protect Danni, but teaching her everything he knows that could help her in her future fight. This could have been yet another "has come full circle" thing for the movie like Sarah. John has basically become Sarah, Kyle Reese, and the T2 terminator rolled in one--a protector who knows about (to some degree) the future and what's to come and can teach Danni to prepare her. Plus? It becomes a sort of a "passing the torch" thing. Another nice little touch. But no. We get a crappy "John dies in the first two minutes lol" move. My point is though, I completely agree with you. Despite what I saw someone say on another video, there was so much (better) they could have done for the character.

If John would have appeared at the final climax of the movie surprisely and saving the others or fighting again side by side with Sarah and the T-800... Wow! That'd have been an epic scene. It didn't matter if he passes the baton of leader of the Resistance in that new future to the girl 'cause John have already defeated Skynet. He accomplished his destiny. Still makes no sense with this T800. In the 1st film we see the Terminator targets other potential Skynet threats like Sara’s family members. In T2 the good T800 even confirms when a Terminator looses its prime target or has completed killing its prime target it will target family members and other potential threats. This therefore means this T800 should of naturally gone after Sarah after finishing John because Sara knowing the future would of been classed as a threat which can be confirmed with the liquid terminator going after Her in T2.

Decision that is long overdue. John is just an anomaly that has arisen on the timeline as a result of Kyle's arrival. The main character of the franchise is Sarah. Sarah and John really thought it was over, because they’d destroyed Skynet. (This scene is set 1 year after Judgment Day was supposed to happen.) They had a false sense of security, not knowing that a Terminator could still be large and still operating on “orders from future that no longer existed.” And that mistake put Sarah on the road to drinking for the next 20-plus years, until she found a new purpose protecting Dani.

Could you imagine if "Carl" just went up behind Sarah, stood there, and when she sees John's reaction of panic and terror, she turns around with her gun raised, only for Carl to say, "Sarah Connor. We must go, it is not safe here." Then he raises his shotgun and shoots someone who looked to just be a background character walking around the bar, only for it to stand back up and warp (polymimetic alloy) into Robert Patrick or Kristanna Lokken. Parallel timelines could easily have saved this movie -- it was mentioned in Genisys about nexus points, so the Rev-9 crossing over through a nexus point unintentionally, only to find itself up against Skynet terminators from a different timeline (e.g. T-850, a T-X) with objectives counter to its own would be hella interesting. The T-850, "Carl" it'd named itself, looked down at Dani and Grace with a passive, unmoving expression. "Your survival assists in the completion of my objectives; the Rev-9 is an obstacle to the completion of my objectives, and it must be destroyed." "And what objectives are those?" Grace's grip tightened around the steel bar, and she angled herself between the terminator and Dani, who peered around her frightfully. "To ensure the survival of John Connor and Katherine Brewster; to prevent the creation of the Skynet Defence Program by Cyber-Research Systems." "Skynet?" Grace looked between Sarah and Carl in utter bewilderment. "You mean Legion?" "The artificial intelligence known as Legion does not exist in my database." The Rev-9, being hyped up as the "most deadly terminator yet" *cough* suddenly being the underdog would've been a nice plot-twist and subversion.

I know I'm watching this in slow motion, so does it just appear that John sees the Terminator walk towards him, gets a completely shocked look on his face, and Sarah just keeps smiling, seemingly oblivious to what's happening behind her?

You can tell who this film is marketed towards: the movie starts in Guatemala, the female terminator arrives in Mexico City, the girl that they're protecting is Latina and on top of all of that the villain Terminator is also Latinx 😂

Don't even look like Arnold. Looks like a Mexican terminator named Jose. Jose the terminator. And Jose's out to collect his debt

I wouldn't mind an entire CGI movie if it's made like this , as long as we have the original cast doing the voice overs
