Really excited about new release. Haven't had much time to play but right from the bat I have a couple of questions: How do I access Preferences? Use to be in Edit menu but top menu is no longer there. Second question - when I right click a clip in the timeline the clip properties window does not appear instead a Properties box appears on left. How do I access the windows properties window?

HI Jonathan, nice work you do there! Just discovered OpenShot and will try it at home in the next few days, as I am searching for an easy to use yet powerful NLE. Yes, Premiere Pro (Elements) is good for this, but there are far too many features in that program, that get in my way (and require much more learning). One question - are Key Frames in OpenShot the way to go for a similar functionality from Premiere Pro, in which you edit the various effects on a clip directly in the timeline with moving key frames and their graphs visually (like gamma, volume, color etc. etc.)? I mean, in OpenShot you have a dialog for that (and I did not see any direct editing in the timeline from the screenshots and videos), which is good as well, as I do not need direct timeline editing via a mouse and can do it also with settings through a dialog. What effects can be controlled by Key Frames? Is it possible to add multiple Key Frames to a single clip (and a given effect) and assign different values of that effect to each Key Frame, so that effect changes its appearance throughout the clip according to the set key frame values? Or would you need to splice the clip on multiple places to achieve this (by applying a start and end value of the effect on each subclip)?

I'm using Blender VSE for my video, but this software sound to be really interesting.. above all for WIndows users like me... :-)

Hey Jonathan, thanks for the great software. Appreciate the hard work you've put in. Two questions. I'm using Openshot on Windows10. 1. I have Inkscape installed but Openshot keeps asking me to install Inkscape to edit the titles. 2. I can't seem to get right click> properties option. In the properties tab for the Transitions, I just can't seem to be able to access the Mask feature. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for the time in advance.

Where can I find the clip properties editor? In the previous version it was accessed by right click. Such an important feature I've used for years. Really hope it hasn't been taken away. Eagerly awaiting some feedback on this as I've searched the net for an answer to this question.

first of all, as a linux user, I was excited to find a user friendly and super fast tool. I've been using audacity and was really hoping to be able to use a simple and functional video editor. because I am not a power user, but just a regular enthusiast, I'm having a few difficulties figuring out where things are. how do you cut a clip? searching for an answer on youtube, I found that earlier versions had the simple razor tool that is commonly found in audio and video editors. For a while now I am trying to find a way to just cut a clip and can't do it. Can you help me? [edit] I found it, for an audio clip :D right mouse button on the exact point you want to cut it, and choose the option "slice it". but still... there is no such thing if the clip is a video clip. [edit 2] in the manual, at Move & Trim Clips on Timelinethe instructions are quite easy to follow, but they must be outdated, because they are the ones I stumbled upon on youtube videos about 1.x versions and they rely on buttons that do not exist on 2.x versions and do not exist on my 2.0.7 version. the razor button is gone. there is no resize button, the properties option does not behave in the same way. so, how does one trim a video clip now?

i've been try OpenShot beta version in windows, but when i try to configure blender for animation title, then try to make animation, openshot doesn't work. and show the error information below: *Error Output: No frame was found in the output from Blender* i've used Blender 2.78C. any suggestion?

There's a PPA for highly unstable daily builds, but I believe this BETA release is beyond 'unstable' for now. In other words, are you guys creating an other PPA for the BETA updates? Thank you for supporting Ubuntu Precise with the 1.4 series BTW.

Any chance you could update the online manual ? I'm a new user (although probably not for long- because....) and the existing help & manual is hopelessly outdated now. e.g. Stuff like the properties menu, and everything in it, works in an entirely different way now. I'm trying to work with the "crop" function, and the existing help stuff is useless now.

Well, I would love to test the version for Windows, but honestly where is the installer? Might be that I´m blind or just too stupid to find it, but it doesn´t appear on your website or on launchpad. :D
