Another great set with this special intro at SuMetal 16th birthday Legend 1997, the whole concert is about sacrificing her Jpop idol form to rebirth as a metal goddess queen, wait to see the big finale if you didn't already with "Babymetal Death".🦊🤘💀 The statue behind is SuMetal figure resemblance but is also a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. Avemaría was played at the end of "Legend 1999" so it works like a bridge connecting both live concerts. The song that follow up is Headbanger!! Night Of The 15 Mix Remix, it was performed only two times especially for SuMetal's birthday, and is another song remixed by YuppeMetal (aka DJ Tekina). What made the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" concert so Amazing was its Story Line that ran from the Opening Act, which you just watched, through to its Finale. It was the story of Babymetal's progression from the Birth of an Idol Group, to the Death of that Group (to be followed with the Rebirth of a full on Heavy Metal Act 3 months later at the 2014 Budokan shows). The Story Line started with Ava Maria to signal the Birth of the Idol Princess Suzuka and followed with a performance of heavy pop and techno sounds, auto-tune and lip-syncing...all your typical J-pop Idol type stuff. But as the show progressed, the songs began to have a stronger metal flare to them (ie the thrash metal mixed with pop in Gimme Chocolate) and then the replacement of the actors in bone costume (they were called Babybones and this was their final performance ever) with a full Live Band called the 'Kami Band' for the final 5 song encore! The final 3 songs of the show were what some have called the "Trio of Death". The full Metal version of "Headbanger", unlike the Dub-step version you just watched, allowed Suzuka to Rock out one last time before collapsing into the Unfinished Version of "Akatsuki" which was a lament of a lost love (perhaps her love for life knowing she is about to die). And finally the finale called "Babymetal Death" which, without spoiling it too much, has the J-pop Idol Princess Suzuka Die...because only through the sacrifice of her own life can she be Reborn the Metal Goddess Su-metal!! As I said, this was an Amazing Concert!! One of the best written scripts for a Metal Concert I have ever known!! More Babymetal Always!!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

BABYMETAL sure knows how to start a party! Other's already said what mix this was but I just have to say how talented the BABYMETAL team is. To preform this version of Headbanger and then perform the original again later in the show and remember to not mix up the choreography. Yes many of the same moves but still. Those girls put in work. Dub-step Headbanger to open, then a full metal Headbanger toward the end of the same show, followed by Su's crucifixion. This had to be one of the best concerts ever, anywhere, anytime!!!

RoadRunner and Christopher JQ have explained below what this was all about and as Christopher JQ said, this whole concert was like a rock opera with the storyline running throughout about them starting as a JPop Idol group (thus this entirely and unashamedly lipsynced remix of 'Headbanger' to start the show off) then transitioning as the show progressed to become an independent metal band. That process had been happening during the course of the year after Su's graduation from Sakura Gakuin - this was the final stage of that process. Of course it was Su-metal's 16th birthday party too, so it was also about her giving up her human life and existence as the JPop Idol Suzuka Nakamoto to be reborn as the Metal Goddess Su-metal. In Ave Maria Yui and Moa made offerings of the neck braces to the Metal Goddess statue ... yes it is all theatre. The first 9 songs had the Babybones guys on stage miming the instrumentals and finally the Kami Band came on for the last 5 songs culminating in 'BABYMETAL Death' and Su receiving the neck brace from the Metal Goddess and being crucified as the statue crumbles and Su-metal takes her place. 'Kingslayer' was on the cards for a long time. BMTH and BABYMETAL have been good friends for several years since meeting at a festival in the UK where they were both playing and they have often spoken of wanting to collaborate. At the end of their 2019 tour BABYMETAL also invited BMTH to tour with them in Japan and they opened at 4 of their big arena shows.

I love it, must have been wild to see live! I wouldn't mind being surprised by a performance like this when going to a BABYMETAL concert, especially since it's part of a story line. Jake Muller has mentioned in comments that this remix was made by YuppeMetal (Yuyoyuppe) who has created songs like Rondo Of Nightmare, Karate, Believing and Monochrome among a few others. I really like the music he makes.

Great reaction, thanks! Legend 1997 was definitely a crazy show and this is the way it started: the intro song is "Ellens dritter Gesang" (aka "Ave Maria") composed by Franz Schubert. And yes, not performed by Su-metal, of course. And then, "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" (Night of 15 Mix) an unashamed lip-synced techno version of "Headbanger!" (they performed the regular version later on this concert). Legend 1997 was (officially) Su-metal's 16th birthday party. And both songs have a reminiscence of previous shows: "Ave Maria" was the way they ended Legend 1999 (Yui and Moa's 14th birthday party) a few months before. And "Headbanger" Night of 15 Mix was also performed during Legend D (Su's 15th birthday) the previous year. You can imagine how hyped that crowd was at the end of the show, when they crucified Su-metal. And good job spotting the Pikachu. 😁 Until next time!

Tekina Remix:- During the live performances Legend "D" Su-metal Seitansai at Akasaka Blitz on December 20, 2012, and Legend "1997" Su-metal Seitansai at Makuhari Messe on December 21, 2012, a remix titled "Night of 15 mix." was performed, containing more elements of electronic music. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Remixed by DJ'Tekina//Something, the song was later released as part of Social Reform promotional editions of the single "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", and later appeared on DJ'Tekina//Something's remix album Kawa-EDM (2016), re-subtitled as "Tekina Remix".

FYI: The source tape is Maria Callas singing with only piano accompaniment. All the other layers are created by the Skelton Band; Strings, Bass, Guitars, Drums.

Those are the big screens on either side of the stage that's why you see two sets of three then right after it goes into headbanger night of 15 where she's basically saying goodbye to being 15 years old because this is about her turning 16 at the end of the show with Babymetal death The guy that did the EDM version of headbanger is one of their songwriters who's very much into EDM That's why I threw out there catalog you hear hints of it in certain songs

Yeah, I'm not sure what the connection is but clearly there is a connection to Catholicism here. I was raised Catholic but left that religion at 13. Still, I went through Confirmation, First Communion, etc. and every Christmas we listened to Ave Maria sung most famously by Luciano Pavarotti, the world renowned Opera singer. It is a beautiful musical adaptation by Schubert of the Catholic prayer to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The statue behind them is a well known and common representation of the Virgin Mary. The Electronic version of Headbangeeerrr and the neckbrace refer back to the Official video. Su being crucified is a reference to her death and resurrection as a musician. So..... Since Babymetal's members official religion is Shintoism I'm not sure how the themes fit together other than the references to a Holy Mother giving birth to a child that undergoes a death and resurrection to bring a new kingdom on the Earth. I personally think they liked the concept and used it to explain the radical transformation of their music. Jus' spitballin' here.

So I'm not a fan of electronica to be honest. Never liked it. But I DO like this song. Just the way it's mixed as you said. It was done well. To me other electronica, trance, house, etc, I can't get into. It just sounds like random noise from a computer to me. Maybe I'm showing my age lol Either way, it's not my thing. I'm not trying to take away from anybody that DOES enjoy that stuff. I have coworkers who love it and torture me all the time by playing it while we're at work, and I'm glad it is music they like and makes them happy, but for me, well it honestly tends to give me a headache. That being said, as you said THIS was done well, and I actually really like this one. It's tastefully done. Not sure if that makes sense. Anyhow, great reaction. In terms of Electronic Babymetal I think this is as electronic as they ever got really. Maybe there is one or two more that I'm forgetting about right now (I'm on painkillers and missing work right now due to a knee infection somehow). Looking forward to watching more of your reactions! :)

Fantastic As an aside, for those that believe Su-metal does lip-sync in her live shows, need only to watch this - she is really crap at lip-sync since it is an electronic remix of headbangeeeeeeer. Su-metal is the real deal singer and just brilliant at singing live - our queen.
