Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Fox Hole.🦊I won't leave my traditional wall of text explaining their history and origins etc as youtube has been making a lot of my comments disappear lately, there is time for that later if you are interested - and Jake Muller has already done his good job with the essential details already. Their name 'BABYMETAL' is not about their age (although when they started in 2010 they were aged 12 and 11 so it probably did play a part too). The name was chosen for two reasons: - to symbolize that they gave birth to a new genre of metal music (kawaii metal - kawaii meaning cute as in adorable, like a box of puppies) - because the writing (and pronunciation) in Japanese is nearly identical to the writing of "heavy metal" (and they love a pun): BABYMETAL = ベビーメタル (be-bi-me-ta-ru) heavy metal = ヘビーメタル (he-bi-me-ta-ru) They have over 50 songs now and you will be hard pressed finding any two alike. They have songs in virtually every metal genre (thrash, speed, power, prog, djent, black, death, nu-metal ... you name it pretty much) but they will also mix in many other musical styles and genres with the metal (Jpop, ska, reggae, Latin, Bollywood, Finnish polka, EDM, rap, hip hop, dub step and more) usually when you least expect it. I would say that 2 most important things about Babymetal are versatility and live. They are VERY different even in a single album plus 12 years of evolution (they started when Su was 12 y.o. and soon she is 25). And they are live band. MVs are ok, but nothing compares to the live. Start with their earlier songs. I recommend Akatsuki, Megitsune or Headbanger.

Babymetal is a journey of 12 years, and you started at the last stage of that journey, so, i will recommend you to start from the beginning: Doki Doki Morning.

They are different, but in a good way. First off, great honest reaction to them! It's always interesting to see people react to Babymetal for the first time! Ok, their live performances are where it's at. You can really see how much of a show they put on and you can see the Kami band just kill it. Their crowd participation is also insane in my opinion... like, they have some DEDICATED fans which is awesome! All of this will make sense once you watch one live performance. I would recommend checking out Karate and/or Megitsune live, just to get started... anyway, looking forward to the next one!!!

Babymetal started as an effort to mix the J-Pop kawaii ("cute") aesthetic with heavy metal, to create a genre of music that they call (not surprisingly) "kawaii metal". They've been touring and making albums for 12 years now, and as they've gotten older, their music has matured as well (the main vocalist, Suzuka Nakamoto, turns 25 this month, which gives you an idea of how young they were when they started). This particular track is off their latest album, due to be released next year.

While yes it is Japanese, BABYMETAL was actually the start of Japanese metal. The girls started on a tv talent show or something similar singing pop music when they were around 10 years old and started a new spinoff metal group in the show and then went on to make babymetal. It was the first band in Japan to combine metal music with j-pop ever. A lot of people say they aren't metal because of their seemingly happy songs and their pop group vocals and origins but the girls had the idea and created the concept themselves and I find that super cool. A lot of the messages in their songs are targeted for younger to teenage girls because they sing a lot about feeling weird in your own skin and downsized because of being a girl. I think you should really listen to Megitsune (pronounced Meg-it-soon-ay) the whole song is about how yes they're cute and their vocals are high and poppy but they're in reality metal asf. Stan BABYMETAL for life!!!

You gotta check them out live...but Amuse can be a pain with their blocking so best to use a logo over any reactions to their EPICAF videos. BABYMETAL isn't just music, they are performance art, and you can't really experience them fully through a lyric video or really any video that doesn't feature the actual visual performance of Su and Moa (and Yui prior to 2018).

welcome to the wonderful Babymetal world - revel in it, dude - it's superb, sometimes bizarrely confusing, but so rewarding. You've got some catching up to do! (>10 years!!) Once you get (what I understand) the meaning of the story of this song, it's a tear jerker, as well as beautiful. Other music vids to try would be Megitsune and Karate for the classic line-up of the band, perhaps BxMxC for the later stuff (it's "different"). You should also see the visualiser for Divine Attack - song release just before Monochrome. Deffo try them live - Headbanger live is a hoot (search for BABYMETAL - Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse) but any live stuff is good (I think you'll have less copyright struggels if you pick up vids that aren't from the official channel, though they are better. That is weird they blocked you on Papaya, but at least got got to see what they are like live as that is what they are, a live performance group, just hearing the music you are only getting half the product and most would agree the lead singer Su-metal always sounds better live than after they have processed her voice on the recordings. This is a super interesting thing that's happening right now. The lead singer, known as Su-Metal is about to turn 25. Which isn't really unusual. Except that she's been fronting this band for about 12 years now. As far as style, you're in for a helluva ride. This is maybe the most "traditional" style music they've ever put out. These insanities have been stirring genre after genre after genre into god-tier metal for over a decade, but it works. You'll almost never hear a Babymetal song and think that it reminds you of another Babymetal song. They're all so different, but every song is still somehow distinctly Babymetal. I'd suggest starting with: Divine Attack, the first single off their upcoming album, which is also where Monochrome is from. The name Babymetal has various origins. As has been mentioned elsewhere, "Baby" as in "new" and Metal. Then you factor the girls were 12 and 10 years old when they first formed, 15 and 13 when they first started to really get it going. It's also a play on words. The Japanese pronounce Heavy as Hebi... so Hebi-metal.... they pronounce Babymetal as bebi.... so bebimetal. Hebimetal/Bebimetal.

The musicians are known as Kami-Band (divine band or band of the gods). They create their own Kawaii-metal genre. Kawaii It is translated as tender, beautiful...., It is characterized by using everything that is considered tender pop, folk, rap, march,... everything that you cannot imagine, On a base of any metal. The only thing you can expect...... Is the unexpected. In Japan, minors under 15 years of age cannot go to concerts, which is why his first works are aimed at this audience, despite that, they reached a much larger audience. Nice reaction. Welcome to a whole new world of music. Not sure what they're next song will sound like is the understatement of the decade. Nobody is sure But Su and Moa. And even they aren't sure until it's done. It's actually one of the cool things about Babymetal. Their music is a mix of Jpop melodies over a metal base with whatever they feel like putting in the middle. Sometimes there's several genres going at the same time. Not only do they mix the music. They also mix the dance styles they use while performing. All while Su the lead singer mixes vocal techniques and genres. All of this creates what Babymetal calls Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal. The other thing about them is that they are best known for their epic level performances. From the time they started they could get the best crowd participation. This was their first lyric video. Considering how good the visuals were, this came out as more of a regular music video. Babymetal does things their own way. And we're here for it. I'm still unsure of what I think of Monochrome. It sounds great, but it just hasn't hit me like the first single for MR and MG. I'll 100% buy the new album but for the time being I'll reserve my judgement until I can listen to it in full. That being said, it's cool that you enjoyed it and hopefully you'll listen to more.

Just found this channel. Noice. About 1.5 mins in Cheez looks to camera and says, "That was unexpected." I loled. Record that phrase and stick it on a macro to save your vocal chords. You'll need to use it a lot for BM. For several decades since leaving college, I'd not deliberately listened to music at all. Nothing much new appealed to me, and although I do like some Classical, rock, jazz, blues music, it's not something I'd go out of my way to listen to. I tolerated music, rather than sought it out. Computer games (especially the Zelda titles) were more of an influence than the charts. And then I found out about Babymetal just shortly after their first album release here in the UK. In the years since, I estimate (probably conservatively) that I've spent about 6,000 hours listening to the (until recently) 3 albums. That's a lot of mileage per song (literally; as a lot of that was time spent commuting). And now there's a new Babymetal in town. And I spent most of an afternoon organising my phone, PC and iPod so that they made more sense and I could get all 4 albums on all of them. And I've not even listened to the new one yet. The only song I've already heard is this one. Just a tad nervous that I'll not like the new album as much, and also wanting to have the time to actually _listen_ to it rather than simply have it playing while I'm doing something else. Time will tell... Meantime, I have your reactions to look over and that's cool too.

Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila, and others have to thank Babymetal for even their success. they created their own genre of metal, kawaii(cute) metal. you actually started on wrong song even though this song is so good. you almost have to have knowledge of them to understand where this song comes in their history. they are a lot bigger than most think. the name was because they started their own genre, hince the word baby. live is where they shine. Su the lead singer is 10ft tall on stage with powerful stage presence. to see some shows where she is controlling 50,000 people is awesome to see.

You are receiving tons of information about BABYMETAL from many fans in various countries. Their activities have been worldwide since 2014. In the latest world tours from June 2019 through March 2020 (prior to COVID), they performed live 20 times in USA (in 18 states), 19 in Europe (11 countries) and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan. Last year, they held 10 serial big concerts here in Tokyo taking very strict countermeasures against infection. After an almost 1-year hiatus, they restarted their activities on April 1 this year. I really like baby metal but Lovebites are still the queens, but this is an amazing song, baby metal has performed on stage with Rob halfred, and another time Dragon force

I've been following you on your LOVEBITES videos and the truth is that this is one of the worst choices of song to make you start with BABYMETAL. I'd recommend you to see them in Road of Resistance or Akatsuki for example.
