To add to that why is this in Tuliyollal question, it also speaks a lot about the city, the music and the region has such a mixture of vibrant cultures, as does the song as it comes and goes with different instruments. Truly one of the best themes of the expansion.

When I heard the day theme, it was after learning the lore behind Tuliyollal. The fact it's a city built by multiple cultures, a mish-mash of people working together. Then the *day* theme picked in and I started GUSHING to people over the big bad choice. It was so intentional, a big band of people working together. Goddamn I love this game's music.

Nice catch! They truly have hidden many previous motifs in dawntrail themes! The final final part of the “smile” song seems to be the motif of Tomorrow and Tomorrow / Invincible, with also having a couple overlapping lyrics.

Brightness and joy describes Tuliyollal pretty well. Colorful decorations, buildings with open sides to let the sea breeze through, and I bet that breeze carries the smell of fresh cooked food towards hungry shoppers. It's the kind of place where you'd expect paid performers and buskers alike to play upbeat or sultry music depending on the mood.

Tuliyolal themes both remind me so heavily of Donkey Kong's Jungle Japes theme, and it's been so fun to see how "Jungle" music is always swing or jazz, and I swear that has to originate at least in part from I Wan'na be Like You from the Jungle Book

I saw someone somewhere else point out that this song being in a Mesoamerican city was probably a reference to The Emperor's New Groove, which might be the case, but I did find that after some time wandering Tuliyollal it just... fit. Purely because of that brightness and joy and effervesence that you pointed out. Also watching you dance in your chair was a delight. Particularly since I was doing much the same when I first heard this track.

I was gushing about this theme to my girlfriend, about the thematic brilliance of using jazz, and she mentioned that she was pretty certain that Latin jazz was a big part of jazz's history. I looked it up and, sure enough, the influences of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian jazz are swept under the rug here in the states. I had no idea! This makes me want to listen to Latin jazz to see if I can hear any connections between it and Tuliyollal's day theme! So it's not only thematically brilliant, but also a wonderful cultural nod! I'm barely into the expac but all the music is so good.

its so incredible how accurately music can describe a physical place - because you're right, the music mirrors how tuliyollal feels - bright, joyous, bustling and especially bustling with lots of different people from different places - hence big band being so perfect for the locale - lots of different instruments coming together to make a joyous song is a perfect reflection of tuliyollal

Yeah I don't think anyone was expecting this theme when they got there. I didn't like it at first because it was such a vast difference from the Shadowbringers and Endwalker music I've come to adore for its heavy tracks, but as I set up my crafting stations in Tulliyolal and the day theme kept hitting, it pretty quickly grew to be my favorite hub to stay in. The only hub that came close was Shadowbringers Hub 1 night theme, but simply because it was beautiful and love the motif entrance in the song. This theme is just straight up a bop and Tulliyolal is one of my favorite places to craft now.

An interesting thing about the motif this time is that... I wouldn't say I'm necessarily a big fan of the vocal track that most of this derives from, but I DO find that I quite like a lot of the zone theme variations on it this time. A lot of the night themes in particular I find very relaxing, and I really enjoy the upbeat peppiness of this Tuliyollal day track as well. I can't figure it out lol.

My friend said she didn't like it because it clashed with the Mesoamerican/Hispanic theming of the expansion and while I see her point of view, Tuliyollal is also described similarly as a cultural melting pot, not unlike America. What better way to reference the birthplace of Jazz than to play a piece of what one would expect to hear during the bustling Roaring 20's? I find its placement very much appropriate.

The music piece itself is pretty good, but I just feel like it doesn't fit where it is played - especially when you consider this is played in a non-stop loop. For a main hub *background* music this is just too much "in your face". I would expect something like this in the Gold Saucer, but i quickly ended up turning off the music in Tuliyollal because it just got too obnoxious.
