I think you are mistaking the humility that is beaten into us at a young age for maturity. That really shows up on the battlefield. Ask the maintenance folks who repair the barracks, the frat boys at nearby universities, and the MPs in the towns where the 3 battalions are and I think they will have a different idea about a Rangers maturity. But yes they are humble, competent and ruthless warriors.

@@Mike___Kilo That is awesome that your son is there now. I meant no disrespect to the young men who go through it everyday. As a matter of fact I believe that the NCOs that are currently at the top of that organization are well equipped to reign in the testosterone fueled antics of the current generation and I would be much more worried if I never heard of a single instance of normal 18-25 year old male behavior. This guy is a pilot yes and he was there - that being said his recount of that part of the story doesnt match what would happen if it had been an RPG - A10s and blackhawks with apache escorts arent afraid of RPGs - they just frag the area - the downed Chinook wasnt an issue for friendly fire bc it had already rolled down the mountain - dont take my word for it though - search out the other accounts and stories yourself and you will find that these narratives dont hold water - you could start with the AntiHero podcast - they have a great episode there that will start you down the path of truth when it comes to this narrative and what really happened

@@WCC-ps8jtlol it’s well known and basically irrefutable at this point that Luttrell’s account of what happened during ORW is mostly nonsense. But if you really believe the DOD would send 4 Navy SEALs to take on 200 Taliban, 100 Taliban, or even 50 Taliban armed with RPGs, PKM machine guns, AKs. As if the Taliban in pajamas and sandals could move 50 dead bodies off that steep mountain top in sweltering heat, without special equipment and without being spotted by the other Chinook flying overhead. The firefight was so easy for the 7 to 8 enemy fighters that they took time record two videos of the ambush. So you really believe Luttrell fell 90 feet on top of another mountain without even breaking any bones and his rifle still being intact and in his possession??? Right sure. If you believe Luttrell’s account in the book you might as well believe SEALs can walk on the moon with no spacesuit.

There was an interview video released by the group of militants that were involved in Red Wings. The interview was recorded on 28th June if I recall correctly, according to the timestamp on the video. I saw it on LiveLeak years ago. Anyways, it was recorded shortly after the whole thing. In the interview the militant was speaking a dialect of Pashto. I am a Pashto speaker too and even though the dialect was different to ours, I understood most of it. It was a quite detailed recall of the engagement but the main points were these. He said they were alerted at night to helicopter engine sounds. There were a dozen of them in the small village. He said they left before the sun came out for the hills and one of their guys found the fastrope the SEALs had left behind on insertion, that information was relayed to the rest of the group through radio. As Luttrell wrote in his book, when they set up the observation post, he found the small village vacant (unlike how the movie showed it). Anyways he further said that we spotted the SEALs when they were holding the group of goat herders. When the SEALs let go of the herders, they were followed up the mountain. The militants then split up and set up a 3 way ambush, they opened up on the SEALs with PKMs, AKs and RPGs. The only way left for the SEALs was to go down. SEAL or no SEAL, the kind of ambush they were in was very dangerous, and they were constantly being pinned down by belt fed PKMs. Outgunned, outmanevoured, and outnumbered, the SEALs were in big trouble. The whole thing lasted 20-25 minutes. One more thing I would like to add is that, in the combat video made by the militants, at one point you can hear one of them shout in Pashto "That one is running away, after him, don't let him get away". This was said while you could clearly hear 5.56 suppressed shots being fired by the SEALs. This leads me to believe that out of the 4 SEALs that fought that day, Luttrell was the only one who had a mental breakdown after the sudden ambush and just quit and made a run for it.

I feel people are often too quick to criticize Marcus, bordering on character assassination. Before people hurl insults and truly vile ad hominems, just remind yourself that Marcus lost three friends that day, and nearly lost his life a number of times that day and in the days the followed. And many of the planning and execution decisions were not his to make, so he shouldn't be shouldered with the weight of the tragic results. Did he make any bad calls during the fire fight? Possibly, but i wasnt there getting shot at from above by a numerically superior force, watching all three of my teammates lose their lives, while an entire QRF that was there to save our lives were blown out of the sky. I thought Ed Darack did an excellent job of analyzing the operation and the numerous questionable decisions made by leadership from the very start of planning, all the way to the QRF, and arguably even beyond that into the rescue and recovery efforts. I just think there's just far too much mean-spirited criticism and empty finger-pointing when it comes to people expressing their uninformed opinions on the internet.. but i guess that goes for virtually any polarizing or sensitive subject discussed publicly on the internet.

I never really seen much navy seal stuff over there, im sure theyd be a dam point man first man in guns a blazing.me personally id rather know who was behind me cause id rather not get shot in the back but whatever. but ive seen some janky stuff and especially a month or 2 or even 3 or 4, around the osama raid, some impossible type stuff. Like, your screen deletes all the waypoint/target type sht and adds new ones lol not funny but ive seen it as ive seen a mrk 19 fire a round off with nobody on the screen/joystick. those were completly different times and missions tho one was pretty weird. Kinda seemed like the apex of the pyrimid wanted some with a callsign to vanish,. I dont think it was seals that im refering to,, these dudes were there to do one thing only, there were no jokes or standard issue mag pouches, whomever they were.sf or rangers or marine recn had to of been.they were too dam tall to be normal infantry but they didnt seem to really have the firepower tht would have been wise to have. course, i wasnt allowed to have my 60 and assault pak with some heat, which would of been my preference fuck that 81 i always hated that goddam system, but with the 60 i could kill you within 30 seconds or cause fleeing ect ect. they probably wished they had a saw or 2 because i dont remember anyone lower rank to carry that. wasnt told sht about anything other than "you and fdc drag this system on a skidco after getting out of bird, 5 or so clicks away, entire 81 system" This was summer 2011 timeframe. It all makes sense now, kinda. These dudes werent no goddam navy or airforce either. The shortest dude was my height five ten.i cant remember the fire power they had they were already on the bird when i dragged ass onto it. they had picked us up north or jaf, near connolly. pt studs, land nav studs. they didnt stick around either after we unloaded from the bird, their turp or ana dudes stayed back and helped drag that heavy shit all the way to that small little klot, if thts the right word, walled structure. Then we set the guns up and it seemed like we were there for a week or so. couple sketchy fire missions. i kinda think theres another side to these stories. i dont know anything about any seals or coast guard or any of that I dont take credit from dudes but maybe theres a reason. No, cause they had a callsign right?im not talking about television or navy or coast guard or air force type, no offense to them, pilots are badass, and badasses every random branch. if you were there you were there. I kinda wonder what made the elephant in the room show up on radar all these years, its simple: they knew someone was going to die because of sorry ass leadership,,and they have clean up the last of the few who knew better than whats on tv... That tv is a goddam liar and id stand with the entire army and marine infantrys and guarentee anything i said, along with whomever opposes that(im sure far far leftists/hollywood trash) whom would probably meet a nasty nasty fate via spoon or object lieing around, because im not gonna sit around and tolerate any poge or infantry past or present, change the truth of "whatever the hell that one week, two week mission" that i was on, blurt that out. So yeah, i know nothing of navy seals nor am i trying to involve myself with that. im only trying to keep anyone from slandering fhe dudes on that chinook who went on those night missions, from being desecrated. i dont recall anyone dieing during when i was there on that mission, then again there were some awefully fast fire missions followed by some really really fast check fires. Kinda dumb to "fr mission"! and then "chk fire" to hear it like that all in the same fr mission.usually it was one or the other, not both. Anyways, to keep living heros the fuck out of real stuff that happened. I cannot remember whatever happened to those dudes i really cant even remember how me and the e6 left that place, not with alot of rounds thats for sure or i would have remembered dragging that much weight back to the lz and would of been pissed. Those dudes were fuxxxx killers whomever they were/are. Refering to the time I was there. some nasty leadership at the top top but i only could have followed orders and was a badass gunner, even still to this day, that good with all the systems.could gun without an ag, did it often. bubbles always level, knobs always correct,,knew that running to system, already knew the shift and about how far of a deflection itd be.all that. my rounds always landed beside each other and things always went smooth. if i see another goddam poge talking or taking credit im going to whoop everyones ass in the ufc, lol, then clean out the fake shit because thats all i see nowadays is poge shit on youtube(your cool i can tell) but i seldomly see anything of real mthfckrs that were there. i see alot of fraud sht and it pisses me off bad lol i dont wanna flip out on a real mthfckr either but im sure itll probably have to happen because theres a bullshit narrative on youtube for sure and its crawling into everything. coast guard repelling upside down out of helicopters, snapping peoples necks, easy kills walking around 2 to the chest and on to fhe next lmao How are ya gonna have talks of iraq/afghanistan without any 11x's(i was a charlie but signed up the same as 11b and do the same, just with bombs also) or 18's or even 19 deltas? very few, very few, i cant even search for infantryman fighting or conversation, it brings up submarine warfare, bed making perfection(walkable sides all around), water pt, and fracture side incidents

We know what happened because there is footage of the ambush. The guy who killed the SEALs, Ahmad Shah, gave an interview about it. We after testimony from the Rangers who found the SEALs bodies. We have wikileaks documents about the incident. We have testimony from the pilot who inserted Lt. Murphy's team. We have testimony from Marines who originally planned Operation Red Wings, slated to be on the later phases of the mission, and were listening to the operation go south on the radio as it happened in real time. We have an excellent idea of what happened because there's a ton of PUBLIC testimony and evidence.

Or just keep rolling like they never happened and Oradour-sur-Glane style massacres are just SOP? The worst part of Luttrell is profiting off dead brothers that’s frankly a bigger issue with him panicking and not fighting as that can happen to even the most experienced warriors, read “About Face.”

Comment section full of keyboard warriors that happen to be experts on warfare… I love how brave they are from behind their screens, I guarantee you that each one of you would have frozen up and died on that mountain… I find it amusing that you experts would have stood up and fought off dozens of armed men with RPGs and AK’s that had the high ground and superior suppressive fire… Knocking the guy who followed his training and got out alive is plain ignorance and straight hatred for the man… None of you would have even made it through the training let alone made it off that mountain.

>"Character assassination" Jack did an interview with author Ed Darack who did extensive research into this whole operation, for SOFREP back in 2018. An important piece of info he gives out is that he talked to the SIGINT soldiers that picked up the comms and ELINT transmissions of the dudes ambushing the SEALS. They estimated it was roughly 8-12 dudes at most that ambushed them, not fucking 300 like Marcus says. Evidence over bullshit, dude.
