Sovereign Citizens can't buy it. CAC=/= access to GPNVG-18, AN-PSQ-10, or Steiner E-Optic LPNVGs. All of which cannot be exported (ITAR). In order to order these types of Night Vision you usually have to get a letter from someone way up higher in the chain of command that would approve the purchase and sale of such products. The government approves the sale for the company saying that they have verified and vetted that individual will not sell the technology to a foreign nation, illegal immigrants, terrorists. Its illegal (completely unenforceable) to allow a person who is not an American citizen to look through Gen 3 or Gen 3+ night vision. So even though the GPNVG is made by Eotech the government has a say in who can buy it due to the work being put out by contract like the Army NGSAW program.

I bought a Armasight Sirius years ago, and I was later given an Ops Core BASE (non armored) and a helmet mount as a gift one year, otherwise? I don't regret buying it at all. Gen2+ tech over 45lp/mm is very capable on all but the darkest nights, good Gen2+ is probably 75% of the performance of Gen3 and is light years better than Gen1. Even with Gen3 you may have to use an IR torch occasionally. so don't feel the unit is crap if you need to use an IR torch to supplement it's capabilities, just make sure to exert good IR discipline, because CCTVs, digital cameras and other people with night vision are really sensitive to it. Don't wanna freak the neighbors out and get the cops called (I've had that happen...lol). If you look around on eBay? You can find some used, but perfectly serviceable Gen2 units with few hours on the tube for under a thousand bucks, even older Gen3 can be found under that price, but that's less common. Just do your research, and make sure that you're not buying a pair of "hot" goggles that "fell off a truck" from some military base, especially in the case of typical military issued units (PVS-5s, PVS-7s, PVS-14s) because the feds WILL come looking for them, and the person who sold them to you and you will not get your money back. But, if you want something that is a fairly safe bet? Opticsplanet has a Gen2+ monocular from Bering Optics called the GT-14 that comes with a helmet mount, skull crusher, sacrificial lens, weapon mount and rubber eyepiece for under $1500. Hope this helps :)

The more recent 7s do the same thing with mirrors. Sometimes when they come in for repair, they only need new mirrors because they're the most fragile piece in the entire device.

I think its older tube tech that uses an active cooling system. Feel like I read that somewhere. I have a set of pvs15s which have the mx10160 tubes that should be the same tubes as whats in your anvis 6/9 sets and they dont make any noise. Maybe its to do with the power supply?

@@thepewplace1370 I have a mx10160A and C's in the 6s also have m11769 series in a mod3. It is usually power supply in 10160s that make the sound. More so in the older gen like 10160A, think early OIF days tech. You can also hear it on certain mx11769 tube in pvs14s if you are around dark enough environment.

@@MrTimjames343 Makes sense. I'm not sure what tubes our 14s have, they're unfilmed WP (I'd assume that'd make them L3) and they're silent too, even in utter blackout, but they are damn near brand new.
