Several years ago, at a concert in Buenos Aires, Mikael was doing his usual speech and suddenly one guy from the crowd interrupted him only to say "I love you, Mikael!", he smiled and serenely replied "I love you too, son". Massive laughs came after that.

@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Very interesting interpretations, and good reaction guys. Okay... So, the album is somewhat of a concept album; the songs about the 'main story' revolves around this unfortunate soul, an outcast -or so he deems himself- delving into the matters of the occult and (I believe) kills his mother as an offering to some dark lord. He is chased by people and hounds (there is a song called Baying of the Hounds in the same album), escapes into the forest but his already growing insanity and darkening soul makes him feel the evilness and deceptiveness of the forest... Of course at this point he is not entirely a reliable source, so... It's not clear if he actually burns some part of the forest to escape or maybe he is feeling the fire of the Devil but he is able to get out. He submits to this dark lord in the next song (Hours of Wealth ... wealth is being in the service of his master) to get rid of the pain (of his conscience) of the murder. The album culminates in the grand finale, the Grand Conjuration, where he completely goes insane, loses his humanity, becomes one with the Devil or perhaps called to Hell for 'eternal wealth'. Amazing album overall. Just like Opeth's other albums... And yes, the price of admission to their shows is not for the music, it's for the comedy., Some songs from Opeth you cannot go wrong with: The Moor, Ghost of Perdition, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, A Fair Judgement, The Drapery Falls, Serenity Painted Death, To Bid You Farewell, Faith In Others, Folklore, Hessian Peel, The Twilight Is My Robe, and from their newest album All Things Will Pass. So many more amazing songs not in this list. Enjoy!

Another good mixed song is Serenity Painted Death. I don't think that song gets enough love at all and yet it's one of their best as far as riffage, brutality, beauty and it has a seriously melodic guitar solo.

Another victim, in a good way, on that head caving outro of this tune. I was tripped up too at the start so it's good to watch someone else try and get the beat hammered out and find the pace. Takes a while to get it figured out but once you find the pocket in that groove, you tell yourself, "no one else is writing shit like this, not even close".

Real acoustics guitars are used in the studio version, it's just easier to do it all on the electric for a live show. Nowadays their live «acoustic» sound played on the electric guitar is much better imo than what it was 10 years ago thanks to technological progress I guess haha :P Thanks a lot for this reaction, I hope you will react to more Opeth in the future :) Their discography is vast and cover many genre and atmospheres.
