With our friends at Prog Magazine throwing their first ever awards bash this week, we thought we'd ask Opeth - who, as we all know, like a bit of prog themselves - to donate frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt to us for a few minutes to talk riffs.

Well that's kinda the point of having a varied taste in music. To listen to other types of music than metal as well.

So what? It's a Metal magazine that interviews a Metal artist about his favorite riffs. That doesn't mean it HAS to have Metal playing in the background. Obviously, someone wanted to listen to Muse. No harm in that.

I do so apologise, I forgot that metalheads could only like metal. A true metalhead embraces music. MUSIC. Metal comes in many forms - not all of it is obvious. It's true, there some bands (BMTH/BFMV/Others in the same vein) That are influenced only by metal, and therefore will only sound like metal. (Though in it's worst form, arguably.) There are very few generations of metal, and the first metalheads were influenced by things that were not metal. I'm sorry if that insults your BRUUTAL tastes.

Favorite riff is just too broad a question, plus when you're put on the spot and have a massive reference pool your brain can just go blank.

Not entirely sure liking Muse automatically qualifies you to having a varying taste. Especially a taste which is quite mainstream and really not metal.
